Suggestions: The complete collection
#23939 - 06/10/07 09:30 AM

Hello everyone

While I was browsing the suggestions section, I noticed that there are quite a few good ideas in it, But also quite a few that aren’t really implemental able (I think). Some of the ideas are small tweaks to the game, and some ideas are quite ambitious.

But what I noticed more then anything, is that the suggestions forum is a horrible mess. Trade system has been mentioned at least a dozen of times. PvP in all sort of forms is all over the place, and a guild system is also highly liked.

I don’t think anyone, players not developers can read trough all the posts, making valuable ideas get unread. That’s why I am making this tread; I will be collecting the best ideas and bundle them into a single tread that everyone can read.

If you think you have something to contribute or see mistakes, don’t hesitate to PM me or leave a message. I cant guarantee every idea will make it in this tread, since it would be useless if this tread would simply become as large as the 400+ individual replies. Also, I will filter out ideas that are simply impossible or not sensible (Like removing the membership system).

Please note that the posted ideas are collected from the forum or from the chat. They aren’t my ideas except for 1 or 2 of them, So don’t think I want a complete game overhaul . I will be updating this tread every week around Tuesday, so check back every now and then.

BIG SUGGESTIONS(Large Features)

Trade System
Pure and simple, people what the ability to trade items or gold with other people. It should be possible to create a trade window where people can safely exchange or give away their items.

PvP System
PvP, Or player VS player combat is a perfect way to see how good you are, and its also a good source of having fun. There are many ideas how this system should be implemented. Among them are:

Individual:
- Create a duel system where a player can challenge another player (No wild PvP)
- Create certain zones where players can attack each other freely.
- Create a zone with a treasure chest with nice loot or special items. Then let players teleport to that area and have a big fight there. When one player remains the chest can be opened and the player can take the loot (Level bases PvP or perhaps handicap high levels based to prevent high levels from taking all)

Group PvP
- Allow people to create a group of 5 persons and fight another group for a massive group pvp event. Also guild PvP (Guild VS Guild) should be fun
- Create a PVP ranking system where people get rated and the top player gets some sort of item or funny title.

Guild System
Whats a game without friends? And what more fun then gaming with a group? Give us the ability to create guilds. Guild are like permanent groups of players with a set name.
What can be done with guild is almost limitless but some suggestions are:

- Guild wars (group PvP)
- Easy team forming
- Guild chat
- Special “Boosted” dungeons that are harder when grouping with guild members

More Dungeons
Dungeons are fun! So, the more the better. Although there are loads of dungeons more are always better. Also, some special dungeons would be nice. Special ideas for special dungeons include:

- Group only ultra hard dungeons
- Group dungeons where gear doesn’t matter(Stats only, so skill and fun above all)
- Dungeons with fully immune mobs(So immune to melee, immune to mage skills/ranger skills). In these dungeons you would need a group to progress
- Invasions. A large group of monsters attacking a town or dungeon actively instead of standing around doing nothing. Could be a nice massive player fight.

More player slots
Currently, on any account a player can just create one character. Some players, however, want to have more then one character to play with (alts). It would be nice to be able to create multiple characters on an account, so game play can be varied every now and then.

Inspect System
Some players have some pretty neat gear on them. It would be nice to see what someone is packing. An inspect system could be the solution. Just click a player, and see what kind of gear he is wearing. Also its suggested that items should be viewable in the chat by making a link to it, so everyone can see it.

Crafting or altering items
Waiting for the perfect drop? Or ever had a perfect item except for one measly stat? A crafting or altering system could be nice. The ability to create your own items or change a stat on an item could be nice. There are loads of ways this could be implemented, ranging from items exchange(king coins), item “Merger” (Making one item out of two items) or items dropped from bosses around the world (Special quest where the reward is an item if you collect all the items from bosses around the world?)

SMALL SUGGESTIONS(Small Tweaks)

Bigger or multiple skill bars
I know so much, but unfortunaly I cant use it all… Why? It doesn’t fit on the skill bar. A few more slots in that bar would be nice. Also, it would be handy to have multiple skill bars since some people have more then 1 classes gear (Im a ranger/mage with two full sets myself). Instead of having to empty the skill bar and replace everything each time simply selecting a second one would be nice

Potion Counter
Health and mana potions are vital for long fights. And nothing is more annoying then starting a fight without noticing your down to your last pot. Create some kind of counter on the interface that shows how many pots you have left (It should be quite possible to write that number on the potion buttons)

Invite Auto-Ignore
Sometimes your busy in a dungeon, and get an unwanted invite. If you accept, your dungeon will reset. Either way, you have to click it away the invite. An auto-ignore system would be nice.

In game report system
While Dungeon Runners has a nice community, there are always rotten apples. And instead of simply ignoring them, its sometimes better to report them. This is already possible, but it would be nice to be able to do so IN game

Inventory sorting system
Every now the inventory is like the suggestion board: A mess. Lots of free spaces in it, but not enough near each other to hold that new, large item. As of such, a lot of shifting is needed to make it fit in. Some auto sort (Like in Dungeon Siege, if you played it) would be nice. Also, it would be great if HP and MP potions could be sorted near each other.

More inventory capacity
The inventory space is limited, and sometimes there is not enough space. Membership of course offer the bank and stacked potions, but it would be nice to have some more. Suggestions include:

- More raw space.
- larger potion stacks
- Pack Mules or other pack animals that help carry it
- Teleport system: a way to send items to your bank for a cost
- Potion bags: a 4 slot item where potions can be put in to save space

Make wands ranged
A wand is not a stick to whack with. A wand is a magical that can shoot cool things like ice and lightning. It would be a lot better of it was ranged. (Quite a few mages are using bows/guns now)

Healing Spells
While potions are nice for healing, it would be nice if it was possible to heal other people to. Some healing spells would be nice. More extreme suggestions are creating a support class that mainly buffs and heals.

Color(Dye) items
Sometimes an armour looks really good being blue, sometimes red looks a lot fancier. It would be nice if armour could be dyed to a selected color. Suggestions are:
- Mobs dropping paint (Maybe special color paint for hard bosses to show of?)
- Exchange king coins for colouring
- Select a color when buying items using king coins.

Hiding your Helmet
Not everyone hates their hair. Some people want to show it off actually. And with a visible tin can on your hat that’s hard. An option to hide the helmet from being visable would be an option.

Dungeon organised quest log
There are a lot of quests around. And these quests take place in different dungeons. However, on the quest log they are all messed up. It would be nice to see them “Dungeon Organised” to see what you can do in certain dungeons.

Capes
Capes are mostly pieces of textile floating behind people. However, that’s why we love them!. Clocks could be a new item slot, a reward from hard bosses, or simply indications on who is member or not. Another idea in this line of thinking are wings.

Item Disposal
“Make Karl act as a trash bin and let him "eat" your unwanted items instead of dropping them all over a town/dungeon and making the town look like a city dump, and the dungeon all messy by mixing items that are and aren’t wanted”. I simply had to use that line (Albeit altering it a little bit). Credits to LasySerenity for the word choice ^^

Overhead names
And who are you? Especially in large groups its hard to see what player is doing what. Instead of having to mouse over each time it would be handy if their name was miraculously floating over their heads.

Counters
How many mobs did I kill this session, and how much XP did I gain? An interface counter showing that would be nice

[Update 12-06-07]
The mages appearance
The visual appearance of the mage gear is nice, but could use some more coolness. The gear mages currently get look a lot like regular clothes. Compared to the nice crystal armour fighters get they actually look slightly plain! Can we also get some cool gear that glimmers, glow, shivers, shatters or pulses with a magic look and feel?

More variation of enemy NPC’s.
Haven’t I seen you before? A few more enemy models would be great to create some more game diversion. Also, the dungeons could use some more diversity with more styles, other designs (Like very large rooms) and perhaps some oddballs like round rooms.

Destination name of stairs and portals should be shown on the map.
On some maps there are 5 or more portals that lead to 5 or more different destinations. Now, which one goes where? Noone wants to run trough the map twice only to find out that the portal they chose was not the correct one. Perhaps a name could be added to the map showing what portal goes where.

Crossbows drops. Or: What you don’t want to see again.
If there wont be a lack of some item, it will be crossbows. In fact, it drops very often, and in comparison to other weapons, WAY to often. Could we get some less bow drops and some more other drops please? Also, see the Silicia Suggests part for proof there are to many crossbows

Button to change the chat channel
Currently the only way to use a certain channel is by using prefixed like /w, /t, /r and so on. Its not completely newbie friendly since most people that just start don’t know about this. Also, there is a slight flaw in the system. When sending a reply (/r) when being into world chat (/w) will send a message back to the player that talked last to you. However, the next time you open the chat it will still be /w, hindering efficient communication(And sometimes causing some damn weird talk in /w :P)
[End Update 12-06-07]

[Update 19-06-07]
1 handed ranged weapons
Fighters have the choice between 1 handed and two handed weapons, and mages can choose between dual handed weapons or a weapon and a shield. But rangers can only have dual handed weapons.

How about adding some kind of one handed ranger weapons like guns, slingshots, water pistols or mini balistas? That would add some variety in the rangers weapon options. Besides, it would be SO cool to dual wield a pair of guns, or use one of those tower shields with a pistol (Counterstrike anyone? :P)

More skills
While my own skill bar is already full, some more skills are always appreciated. Especially some more specialized skills, and group based skills are favored by most players. And the big favorite? A healing skill that would allow you to heal yourself and others.

3 day trial membership
Currently File Planet downloader’s get a week of free trial. Why not extend this to every player? Just give the players an in game card that gives 3 days of membership when a player clicks it. That way players can choose when they have the time to really try the game.

Difficulty Slider
Some players think the game is a cakewalk, while others find it hard enough already. Perhaps some kind of system that allows players to set the difficulty would be nice

Localized clients and European servers.
A connection to a server in the USA is always slower when connection from Europe, or even further away. It would be handy if there was a server running in Europe. Along the same line: Game clients that are translated to other languages could give players who cant speak and read English well a little help.

Multi Character Bank
If a player could have more characters, then it would be handy if gear could be transferred between then. Players suggest that the bank could be used for this. Just put an item in as Character 1, and open the same account as character 2 to get the item out.
[End Update 19-06-07]

Others(Oddballs)

Very uncommon ideas or non in game suggestions

What is currently being developed
Enough about us, Lets talk about you. It would be great if we knew what would come up into the next patch, or if we knew what was currently being developed. Is it possible to create some webpage where the current development is shown?

In game mini games
Probally the weirdest idea that has ever hit the forums. But I liked it, since it was quite a hood.
There are a lot of players like to slash around there and create a lot of fireworks while in town, So why not make that useful? The idea was to create a minigame based on that.

The idea was to create an untargetable mob that runs around in Townston. The players would have to Shift+Aim a ranged weapon and fire in an attempt to hit it. This should be hard because of the mob running around fast and moving unpredictable. Once hit, it should drop a potion or a king coing (With something like a 1/250 change) and respawn in a different region in town. It would be quite the hood if a group of people would chased the thing around town =)

That's a pretty easy fix...use your spells perhaps?

I know, i know. and again, it aren't my own ideas. The only reason i use a gun is because of shadow lightnings cooldown . i tend to press that button to early, and when that happens, i would charge in in melee.(I keep telling myself its that, and not the fact i simply like the looks of guns^^)

Charging in is not always unwanted, but in dungeons like HDoL that can cause a pretty mess if you just had the healers there lined up. Besides, its like i wrote down... a wand is simply not a stick to whack with =)

Im waiting on more bosses and normal monster, any chance we will be seeing any new ones soon?

Also this game needs something to throw you off and create an on the edge experience, sort of like you turn a corner and have to run for your life because a giant widow maker type boss.
Or maybe a trap type thing where lots of tiny monster poor out like those beetles in the mommy, and what you would expect to be in a dungeon. Or like a pit you fall down and your team has to chase down after you, it could just fall when someone steps on it and become a door for others to go down; and after you killed everything you can just climb back out.

Any chance of something like that, something exciting to stir things up? Im sure people can come up with more ideas im just throwing these out there. Anyways any idea what the devs are working on atm?

The complete collection thread weekly update, issue I (12/06/07)

First things first: Welcome at the first weekly update of the complete collection thread!

That’s correct, I will be compiling an update list for this thread every week with the latest ideas that have been posted on the suggestion board or that have been suggested within the game. That way the suggestion thread will be nice an up to date, so there is no more excuse to make double posts about the same subject(And no more excuse to make a damn mess on the board :P).

Furthermore I created some small summaries of some of the more popular topics on the suggestions forum. That way you don’t have to read trough 10 pages to know what the topic is all about and what’s going on.

And last but not least: the “Silicia Suggests” part. This will be a small list of links to topics from all around the forum that I think to be worthwhile to read. Well, the keyword in that line is “I”, so feel free to fully disagree with me what is, and what isn’t worthwhile. Its called “Silicia Suggests” for a reason

But enough about me, and enough about what the weekly updates will be like. Lets get to the only thing that is really important: The update for this week!

In this update:

Big suggestions and discussions The ambitious ideas and current discussions
- Auction houses. Do or don’t we want them?
- Dungeon Runner difficulty and the value of gold inside the game
- Power leveling: Friendly help or unfair practice?
Small suggestions made The small game tweaks
Others Very uncommon ideas or non in game suggestions
Silicia Suggests Forum threads you might like

Auction houses. Do or don’t we want them?
Trading items with other people has been a feature that has been around in online games forever. The idea behind it is to get the items you want by giving away items that you don’t want. However, its not always easy to find someone who wants it at the time your selling it. If that’s the case then you could let someone else sell it for you. Welcome to the concept of the auction house.

At the auction house, people can put a price at their item and let it sell it for them. Think of it like a shop that doesn’t have set items or prices inside it. Anyone can sell there for any amount of gold.

This is exactly what some players don’t like. Auction houses, and trade in general will create a lot of rivality to get the best items. Also, the richest players(Those who farm most) would always get the items they like. And last but not least, having rare items is no longer an achievement. Having a rainbow or full purple can easily be done by buying them at the auction house. No fun, and it would seriously kill the games laid back spirit.

However, an auction house doesn’t need to be like that. There are dozens of other ways to make one, each with its own charms and flaws. Now, what would your opinion on this be? Have one or not? And if we have one, what should it be like? If you have any good thoughts concerning this then go to the auction house tread.

Dungeon Runner difficulty and the value of gold inside the game
Dungeon Runners is probably the most friendly game on the block. No steep learning curve, no death penalties, Fairly fast leveling and lots of money to be gained without grinding for hours. All in all, its quite a fun and easy going hack and slash experience.

So, what’s wrong with that? Well, What’s wrong with that is what is called “Lack of a true challenge” by some people. The mobs are always fairly easy to beat, and even when you mess up you can always drink a potion and survive. The game, in all its rights, is fairly easy.

Even so, keep in mind that Dungeon Runners was designed with people that can only play 15 minutes, or a few hours a day tops in mind. If you want to have fun in 15 minutes, things have to go easy and fast. Still, sometimes you want to play longer. And sometimes, you want to have a real challenge. Can that be found in the game?

The answer is YES. The game is as difficult as you make it for yourself(Put a limit of 1 pot a fight and you’ll see how hard it gets), and the game also helps quite by adding areas that are way more difficult. For Example, In HDoL there are groups with two Heroes that can heal. There is no way you can beat the group without separating them. If you don’t, they just heal each other along with all the other units in the group. So in this fight, you DO need strategy. So, HDOL is a perfect example to get a challenge.

Still, there could be a bit more challenge. An idea is to create “Combos” with skills to make attacks more effective. Other ideas are limiting the amount of HP pots you can drink each minute, and its also possible to create a HDoL like dungeon with 6 hero healers in a group. That way you would NEED a team to win the fight. And team gaming is always a lot harder. So is the game to easy or to hard? No idea. That’s yours to comment in the Easy game and Gold thread.

Powerleveling: Friendly help or unfair practice?
Leveling can take time, and sometimes it would be nice it if was faster. Or even better, WAY faster. Impossible? No. Just get a power level.

Power levelling is based upon two facts: The higher the monsters level, the more XP. Also, if the difference between the monster and the players level is high, more XP will be awarded. The second fact it leans on is that (in Dungeon Runners at least), someone only needs to be in the same team to get the same amount of XP the team mates get. A level 1 teaming with a level 100 that’s killing level 100 mobs could in essence be level 50 within a day.

Is that just some friendly help from the high level? Not according to some. Most people are kind of proud about their level; Logical. It shows you achieved something trough a lot of work. And its something special if you manage to reach the maximum level. If someone simply reaches that level, its no longer special, and you didn’t achieve anything.

However, what is really to gain by power levelling? In dungeon Runners its not the destination that counts, it’s the journey. Unlike WoW there is no mass of content that unlocks when you reach the top level. Instead, if you power level, you miss out large parts of the game, only to gain the privilege to acces a dungeon you would have gotten to on your own anyway.

So, what should be done? Make it impossible so that peoples level are really their own achievement? Or allow it since there is nothing to gain from it anyway. Feel free to vent your own opinion in the Power Leveling thread.

Small suggestions made The small game tweaks

Silicia Suggests:
Topics from other parts of the forum that are worth having a look at

Rainbow Screenshots: Rainbows are rare. But at one place they are common. Where? The Rainbow Screenshot thread of course!
Player Demography: Who is playing Dungeon Runners? Find it out with this great Survey!
Dev Digest: Want to know whats happening to Dungeon Runners? Check the Dev Digest!
Why are you a fighter?: For the fighter characters. Why did you become a fighter?
Crossbow Madness: did you think the high amount of crossbow drops mentioned was a joke?
The new map: A very nice map showing where everything is in dungeon runners
A guide to killing HDoL Hero healers: A nice guide to killing healers in HDOL (No, it has (Cough Cough) nothing to do with the fact that i wrote it!)

Well people, that was the first update for the complete collection thread. If you managed to read all of it till this point, I have to congratulate you, since it was another 5 pages in word. That’s just as big as the original post to be precise! Its quite long, but seeing it’s the first issue I think there was just to much I wanted to cover in it.

I really hope you enjoyed reading this update. If you have some suggestions for the thread, have some nice thread ideas for the “Silicia’ Suggests section or if you think I managed to miss something out something or perhaps just want to say something else to me, don’t hesitate to contact me. Just send a PM over the forum or drop by at World 2 sometime, and say hello to me (Silicia) there.

Well, this is really it for this week. See you all again next Tuesday for a (hopefully shorter, for my poor fingers) new update for the Complete Suggestion Collection

I'm really glad you liked the thread! And i'm glad that i didn't write those summaries for nothing, since i had a real problem cutting them to keep them er... short (By my measures).

Kimujii:
Great find!. i didn't even see this one before you posted it. To bad i finished the weekly update so early since if it hadn't been finished yesterday the update thread would have been in this issue. O well, thanks for posting it over here, people will now see it anyway, and i have matterial to include next week

I suggest they should allow you to buy multiple pots at once instead of clicking once and pressing ok and repeat again for just one pot. It would make life easier if you click the pot once fro the shop and you are required to enter the amount of pots you seek to buy. Thus reducing time spend on spamming buying pots.

I'm liking your ideas, but the auction house seams a bit over done. i would however, like to see trade ability. and the names over the characters would be nice if the characters where not so darn big.

as for crafting. I'd suggest a way to take Gray items and build upon them with smaller mats. like a simple cardboard sword, you can get blue Paint, and its now the "simple cardboard sword of the noggin'". or even better, also have stickers that can enhance objects. like giving it poison res on armor.

Oo, don't give me the credit for those ideas!

All the ideas in the post are collected from the board, Bundled and posted here so everyone can see what is going on without having to go trough half the board. Im doing these kind of updates every week, so we don't need a lot of double threads discussing the same. The auction house part is a summary of a popular thread on this forum; I made those to give everyone a change to discuss it without having to read the entire thread to have an idea whats going on.

The crafting is currently being actively discussed. The main question is if it really has a place in a game like Dungeon Runners where the amount of item drops is already high. Also, people tend to talk a lot about what it should be like. Materials dropping from monsters? Enchanting items? NPCs offering to alter items? Merging 2 items into a new one? There are a lot of possible ideas on what crafting would be like if they added it. Im still waiting for a thread that discusses this in detail so i can add this to an update(Next update will be Tuesday next, so if anyone feels like it, better be fast )

The complete collection tread weekly update, issue II (19/06/07)

Hi everyone, Welcome to the second issue of the complete collection threads weekly update.
Or, as I like to call it: The Dungeon Runner Weekly

There has been quite a bit of forum activity last week, so I will have a lot to cover again. Of course the most important thread this week concern the patch notes for the new Dungeon Runner build, and what they would mean for the game. Another thread, or rather group of threads are discussing Dungeon Runners endgame. There is a whole lot of discussion about what players can do after level 100, and there are quite some different opinions what this endgame content should be like. Also, a lot of players don’t seem to agree with the ideas other players are producing. Lets see if I can get a nice summary out of that. The last of the big updates include a thread that I found highly interesting. It covers SO many different subjects, ranging from a top runner page to an inspect system, and endgame content to new skills, that it is to great to leave it out of the big updates. I just hope that the summary I produced makes sense, since the thread has a whole lot of text to cover.

Of course that wont be all I have for you. Like last time I will cover the smaller suggestions in the suggestions corner, and of course there will be a new “Silicia Suggests” which will contain links to forum threads that I thought to be worthwhile to read this week.

Enough introduction. Lets start with the goodies

In this update:
Big suggestions and discussions The ambitious ideas and current discussions
- Patch notes: Are the players the ones who develop Dungeon Runners?
- Endgame content: What should come after level 100?
- The massive suggestion thread(Top Runners)

Patch notes: Are the players the ones who develop Dungeon Runners?

The award for the most important post will of course go to Stephen, who posted the patch notes for the next Dungeon Runners update. This post can be found here

Now, a small discussion of the patch notes, for the people who don’t want to switch page:

Voice Chat
Get a microphone or a headset, and plug it into your PC and presto, you can talk to other players inside the game. This is a pretty neat improvement, especially since no online games I know about provide a voice chat feature within the game itself. Its also a feature that has been requested by quite a number of players, but it never made it to this thread since my personal opinion was this couldn’t be pulled of in a free game. Shame on me for thinking that!

Improved text chat
Simply said: From now on you can change the opacity and the size of the font and the chat box. Ideal for people who have some kind of eye disability, or think that the box is to much of an eye catcher.

The best feature however, is the ability to ignore certain game channels for some time. Have you ever tried talking to your group, while the world chat is literally getting bombed with messages from other players? I can tell you, its really hard to get a decent conversation with your group going while the world chat is busy. But now, just throttle one chat channel and enjoy peace and silence (Well, Chat peace and silence that is)

More weapons, quests and armor
We need more (Fill in here). This is the type of message that you will see in about every thread on the suggestions board. It ranges from more types of ranged weapons, to more different armor models. And guess what? It is actually becoming true. Unconfirmed rumors state that there will be about 4 new armor sets in total. The only thing that is conformed is that there will be a new set especially for mages. Lets just hope it’s a cool looking set; That way I can both remove the “Cooler mage items”, and the “More thisandthat” from the original collection post!

Improved vendors
The vendors have finally learned what stuff is good and what stuff isn’t. So from the next patch on, they wont bother people with green or blue thingies anymore.

More skills
Yup, more skills. Its stated that there are several new passive skills, and at least one new active skill. This active skill will taunt the mobs around you into attacking the player that uses it. Great for groups, since mobs always seem to go for the weak characters(the mages), while the Tin Cans(The Fighters) keep whacking the monsters in a futile attempt to get their attention.

Apart from the fact that the new features sound great, man should notice that ALL of the new features have been suggested on the suggestions board. It kind of feels like the players are developing this game, instead of the Devs. This is something that is REALLY rare, since most mmorpg crews barely manage to keep the features interesting, leave alone implement what players suggest. I think we should applaud the Devs for being one of the very few that manage to create content based on the players suggestion. Devvie’s, you really seem to listen listen to the players suggestions. Bravo!

Endgame content: What should come after level 100?

The biggest discussion of this week is without doubt about the endgame content. Endgame content is content that is designed to give players that reach the maximum level something to do. Currently the only thing a player that hits 100 can do is farming mobs, hoping to get better gear. Since the game is easy going, it doesn’t take incredibly long to get level 100. In fact, some players that started when the game went gold(about 3 weeks ago) are nearing level 100 already, and a lot of other players seem to be closing in rather fast.

This caused a bit of an outcry for some new content. Basically, this content can be divided into three different groups:
- Higher Level Limits
- Group or Special Dungeon Content
- Collectors Items

Higher Level Limits
A higher level limit is about the easiest way to extend the gameplay, but it certainly has some flaws. If people manage to get level 100, getting level 110 or even 150 will be quite fast for them if exp goes up at the same rate. That way there would soon be another outcry for more end game content.

To counter this, a suggestion was made to recap the level limits at level 110. However, those last 10 levels would require massive XP to get. There is no “real” gain from getting these levels, but it would create some kind of a challenge to get them. A different take on is not setting a hard cap(Max level), but a soft cap(no level limit). However ,the levels after 100 would require XP that is in the magnitude of LevelXP = ((Lastlevelxp+100k)*2) . At level 105 this would already be 6.2 million XP. Around level 110 the required XP would be so massive that its almost impossible to get.

However, these level ideas attract a lot of criticism from non hardcore gamers. In order to get these higher levels, a lot of playing would be required. This simply doesn’t seem to fit into the games laid back setting. And even though getting higher levels would only be minor improvements to the characters, it would still mean that there is no way the casual gamer can match up with the playaholics, something that is highly possible in the current setting.

Group or Special Dungeon Content
A different idea about high level content is creating a new dungeon that, at first, Is incredibly hard. So hard, that players should have a major challenge to get to the boss at the lowest level. Think along the lines of HDoL, but then with 5x bigger groups with more HP, or a major amount of hero difficulty healers. The idea is that the final boss would have a very fast regeneration rate, so that players would need to team up to overcome that.

Collectors Items
Collectors items are rare items that are fun to collect. The idea is that certain items would very rarely drop from the end game mobs, and that players can collect these drops. An example would be a santa suit, or some gimmick that turn you into a giant running potato when worn. These items would have no functional meaning, but they are so cool that they are worth hunting for.

Its certain that in the end there has to be some kind of endgame content, simply to keep level 100 players busy. The real discussion here is not IF there should be endgame content, but rather WHAT it should be like. My personal vote would go for the gimmicks, since they don’t destabilize the easy going foundation of the game. In fact, they really suit the game in a humourous way. Of course, that’s just my own humble opinion, so feel free to vent your own. There are two threads on this subject. The first one is Here and the second one is here

The massive suggestion thread(Top Runners)

The thread that I will be summarizing next has been my unrivalled favorite thread last week. The thread contains a lot of great ideas, for a lot of different parts of the game. Yet, they are all interconnected to each other by the means of….Cards. Cards? Yes cards. Read on, ill explain later.

The first suggestion the thread made was to create some kind of “Top Runner” webpage, where the best dungeon runners would be listed. However, this was quickly enlarged to a web page where you could see the stats of all the different players in the game. Think about it as a page with a text box where you can enter a players name, press enter, and then see their gear, stats, the amount of kills and so on.

Of course its nice to do this on a website, but its even better to do this while inside the game. The next step was creating an inspect system inside the game where you could click a player to see his or her gear. Nothing special so far, but the idea was to make the output look like baseball cards, or rather as trading cards.

These cards began to live their own life, and a few ideas of what they would be like where made. They are Here, Here and Here. Also, suggestions where made that there would be some kind of vendor that would allow a player to customize the looks of his or her card (for a price of course).

The last idea for the cards where that they could act like passive buffs. This worked like this: Each player would get two card slots where they could place cards in. Other players could give away their cards, that would have stats based upon their personality. A shadow mage card would have + shadow damage and + int, while at the same time letting str and end drop. Since these cards are different for everyone, each card would be giving an unique combination of buffs.

Got any more ideas what could be done with these cards? Post them Here I will be looking forward to your ideas!

Small Suggestions Corner The small game tweaks

Silicia Suggests:
Topics from other parts of the forum that are worth having a look at

Top Runner Thread A lot of very nice ideas. My favorite thread for this week.
Patch Notes The patch notes for the next dungeon runner update
What would Karl say? What would Karl (The red mob thing that holds the XP board) say if he could talk?
Weapon Ideas A list with ideas for new game weapons.
Basic fighter guide A small guide on stats and weapons for fighters

Well, that’s it for this week. this time it’s a nice 6 pages of text. Compliment yourself, since without everyone’s suggestions I would never have had so many things to talk about.

I hope you enjoyed reading this second update. (Copy and paste FTW)

Well, this is it. See you next week, for another update for this thread!

Cya all in game sometime,

I've updated the first two posts in this stickied suggestion thread per Silicia's request. This is all Silicia's content btw, I'm just copying and pasting the information.

Thank you once again Silicia for doing such an OUTSTANDING job on organizing all these suggestions! I know that Stephen and the rest of the team really do appreciate it.

Same goes for me

*Claps*

Old posts cannot be edited by normal users, so if anyone ever needs me to go back and edit a guide they have written just send me a PM with the updated info.

Any chance you can correct the spelling too? Reading "tread" for "thread" over and over started to wear thin

Edit: Sorry, the grammar/spelling nazi in me was raging, sometimes I can't control him! Seriously though, these are some fantastic ideas, was a good read. Thanks for taking the time to get everything in the same spot.

Bah, are a few silly typos all you can comment about?

No, seriously, thanks for notifying me. I typed the text on my regular PC instead of on my laptop. On that PC the "H" key is broken, causing me to have to ram that key about 3x harder then any other key to get the letter to appear on the screen. Normally the spell checker just kicks in so i can correct it, but since "Thread" and "Tread" are both valid words i don't get a warning its a typo. Even if i manually spell check it, i simply see a valid word, so it wont trigger a typo alarm inside me. But ill keep an eye out next time =)

Tappa:
Good point, and i have to admit that i was kind of surprised myself. I heard a few people that want some kind of a support class, and that automatically included the healing spell. Also i heard quite the number of people say they want a healing spell, and most times 4-5 persons seem to agree with it on the chat.

Of course, i cant ask everyone, and i might just have found the 40 or so players that want it, while the other 500 are dead against. But just make a "Do we want a healing spell?" thread. It will probably supply us with the answer how many people do and don't want it =)

Thanks for posting here,
~Silicia

If you search I am pretty sure a thread for that already exists. I know I have posted about how unnecessary a healing spell would be for this game.

JoeB1978:

Found it

Yup, the spell would be useless, thats also why i found it weird that i heard it being requested several times. Since it would be fairly useless indeed i will just classify it as an already existent ability(potions) and scrap it in the next weekly update.

Ill just replace the text itself with "a request for more team based skills. Players would like more team based skills so that playing in a team would be more fun and usefull" I guess that would take out the little healing spell problem, and more team based spells would have some more general support then just healing spells i think.

Thanks for pointing me to this mistake

I think more crowd control skills would be nice, such as a smoke bomb which makes enemies inside of it miss a % of the time. This way they can increase mob sizes without totally sacrificing survivability.

Level Limits [Re: #24877]

Answer: Quest for each level beyond 100.

at lv 100, a series of 'special quests' open up. finish one and get lv 101. get dbl the stat point upg, choose a 'cool item' for your strength (not class), and get a choice of perm resistance or buff. as time goes on, adding level quests would be snapins at that point.

so if there's 10 quests in the series (each with varying difficulty) and each one ends with a choice of (numbers out of a hat) 4 buffs, 4 resistances, or 4 items tailored to your strengths, there'd be plenty of hi-level player discussion about what combo is the best.

These quest-adds would of course be changeable by doing the quest again.

varying difficulty... i'd say 1/2 of them should be solo-able. a couple should require a lower level char to be part of the party, and ONLY a couple should require a good sized normal party (3-5), with only the leader getting the quest completion.

Love the topic, nicely done.

Would love to see some more towns also. If the servers get bigger the towns will get more crowded. Ppl showing of their skills. If several ppl do it at the same time this can create a lagspike.

And of course: more quests, but then 1 you guys are already working on. (also I would like to see a special marker if it is a repeatable quest.)

ok heres the deal... has anyone ever played helbreath before? Their pvp system is the best out of all the mmorpgs, seriously. basically, there r 2 opposing towns, like wow, and in between the towns theres a big forest called the midlands where players from both towns can go... its a place where u can go to kill ur enemies and also to train with high level monsters. its really the best system in the world, can the GMs please consider my proposal???

You can add a dot on the map for the important npc or quests. My opinion on pvp, i think that should be create a healing spell or a new char (priest/druid), and i like the idea of the hellbound. Or something like wow.

I've read this long thread, just for say "if those suggestiones were taked wisely, Dungeon Runners would be the greatest game ever". I mean, in World chat, some people have mentioned play 2 or 3 more games besides this one, 'cause DR lacks some stuff that other games had, like CRAFT ITEMS, for example, the only way to make your own unique items, armor and weapons using scrolls. The idea is not new, not original, but give to the players something really great.
I've read all those suggestions and I'm agree with the most, and I don't disagree with none, 'cause they are from other players who are involved in the game since a lot of time, not my case.
Congrats to Silicia to the great thread.
Regards!

I still think more content should be the main focus of upcoming patches, all the crafting and stuff in the world wont make up for people getting bored of the game.

I think it would be really cool if the maps sort of lead into eachother, like you walk along the top of the volcano before entering the ember core. Cemetarys or something that lead to vergrims, and quests that foreshadow entering the cemetary to get to vergrims so you actually feel like your building up to something.

yeah, I agree with the last comment, like walk a little while to enter to a certain area or dungeon, that would be cool, just seeing you're approaching to a certain place and not always teleporting and stuff.
Like I said in other thread, I'm going to buy the membership just 'cause I know all those suggestions are going to be taked by the dev staff and DR it's going to be the best online game possible.

Hellbound if you read the first post you will see that it is a collection of all the suggestions that have been posted. He does this, personally love it, to bring all of the good ideas into one thread. A good place for people to check before making a new suggestion because he has most of the new good ideas up already. He also provides links to the current threads if you would like to comment on them.

just a few suggestions incase this is still being updated.

It would be nice if we could have some sort of tome (sp) for our waypoint scrolls, like there was in Diablo. Could have a purchase cost for the tome and then the purchase cost for each scroll you put in it.

While I find the quests fun and I'll admit it is easy to lvl so far, I'd like to see the quests give out a small amount of xp. You could have it so the first time you handed in a quest you got 500 xp and then for repeatable ones you only got 100 xp, scaled to your lvl of course.

one idea about end game play is to have a level reset...

once you hit 100, you have the option of resetting to lvl 1 if you want...

if you do reset you get to keep X amount of level points (lets say you get to keep 50), so you reset and get to wear all your lvl 100 armor (unless you take it off, then you cant put it back on) and have 50 stat points to apply where you want...

in doing this, the stat points you get to keep goes up by 50 every time you reset... so the 2nd reset would be 100 points, third reset would be 150 points, and so on...

There is a system like this in Mu (was originally developed in the private servers)... I believe that it works wonders... it lets you relive all the game content from lvl 1-100 as many times you want and gets easier each time...

this way they can slowly add content that is lvl 101 and higher as they choose, and slowly raise the rest level...

1) I would only agree to an "inspect player" feature if the "inspected player" has the ability to toggle this on or off. This is especially important in PvP. But you may argue that the "inspect player" feature can be disabled in PvP. But what if you don't PvP and don't want the whole world to know what you wear? I have been stalked by psychotic players.

2) We should have the ability to toggle whether our location is visible or not visible on the friends tab. What if you don't want the whole world to know where you are? I have been stalked by psychotic DR players who want my WP or a PL.

3a) We should have the ability to ignore all colored chat except for the white admin text. What if you don't want to hear from the psychotic stalker who's relentlessly hounding you from world to world? Instead of actually playing dungeon runners, you are playing Spy VS Spy.

3b) We should have the ability to close the chat box.

Well that sucks Balomar ... you mean I cant stalk you anymore? Usually these people make to my ignore list. I do agree with you though that it should be optional to be "inspected". I thought putting yourself on busy blocks all /tell this in combination to /ignoreworld should only have admin chat make it on. Why do you want to be so antisocial?

Why do you think they redid the invite system? Because I talked to Stephen about it in-game and it was changed in the next patch.

The yellow chat cannot be blocked and is seen by the whole world and the psychotic stalkers know that you can see it because you cannot 1) close the chat box and 2) ignore this type of chat.

Hiding your location can eliminate the, "Hey can I get your waypoint" spam from other players. And no you cannot get it because I'm eyeball deep in monsters right now!

I checked the whole forum so I hope there's no post about this yet.
Sure there's that whole debate about pvp, trade skill, auction house and all. My opinion is, DR don't need any of this. I mean, I used to play WoW, and got tired of it 'cause it's too time-taking. Economy would ruin the beauty of DR, my opinion. Why would we want to make a game look more like an other game? Those complaining about DR just not being enough like WoW, stop complaining and stop playing, period! (There's so much of such post, but sorry I had to do one myself )

Now, my suggestions about the game is that we get more skills. Many suggestions here and there, I hope we could just put them alltogheter.

-More Buffs, like temporary stats boost, armor boost, frenzies.

Maybe we could have an NPC where we could buy some buffs, and have a limited number of active buffs. (A way of doing something about that "too much cash" problem)

- Skills that would allow weapons specialization such has "+5% to slashing dommage"

- Skills that would have a small delay when using it such has, a warrior "big bashing" skill that would take a 3 seconds to take effect after selecting it, which would do massive domage and send a ennemy (or multiple ennemies!) flying meters away.
-Poison skills that would hurt the user's hp, but would do significant A0E dommage.

Any other ideas? Think about something not overseen in other games!

it would be nice that some self buffs could last several minutes and cost a lot more Mana (i seem to shy away from them b/c of their short time span (probably because I'm use to longer durations))

a buff NPC would be great too

I agree with the "poison" skill, but in a different term.

The best example of this i can think of is from the anime "Naruto" where he has a 9-tails (demon fox) sealed with in his body, but when he releases the power (majorly increases his power) it also damages his body in the process... if it wasn't for the ability to also regenerate himself, he would die once his released energy was to high, because his body is destroying its self as fast as its regenerating...

it would be cool to have a skill that costs tons and tons of mana to activate, that would substantially increase your power out put, while reducing your defense and life. Also, when you make contact with another mob/mobs, it slowly leaches you life away... honestly it would be great as a toggle skill, so it would deactivate once you are out of mana, but have the life leach would consume so much hp, that you cant keep the skill activated more than a few seconds (unless you like rapidly sucking down HP potions)

Yea, hp consumming skills would be cool.
And I agree with the "deplete 90%" of mana skill that would power up offensive powers. Would be nice for those going fighters all the way.
I suggest more life leech skills, but that would either slow atck speed or give an other kinf of disadvantage. To avoid overpowered butcher fighters.

Also, weapon that would come with a unic skill would be great. Such as 2H sword would have a 360 degree shot, daggers would have an incapaciting shot decreasing enemy atck power, etc.

More passive skill regarding fighting style would be nice, such as 2 weapon handling givin a 10% atck speed and a -5% atck power.

A way to specialize characters, and keeping the no class at all feature.

More ideas?

I would like to see much better vendor supplies. I'll check the vendors for better equipment when I start, and hours later they have the same crap I didn't want before.

Why doesn't the stuff the players sell show up there? As a ranger, I drop many good melee weapons, shields and fighter jewelry, etc. I've given away my first couple rainbow items since they were melee (to a player, not to the vendor). Shouldn't that stuff be available for the next players in line at the vendor?

Simply two things to make the game a big deal more interesting all the way to endgame and beyond:

1) Special properties to items - currently the stats just gets better along the levels and there are no unique properties which would make the items special and finding them rewarding. For example procs, skills, % to stats, unusual damage...This one is IMPORTANT AND HAVENT YET BEEN DISCUSSED. This game is all about items which I like very much but at the moment the stats just scale up...

2) The game has currently pretty few skills and would be nice to see more implemented on the forthcoming patches so there could be challenge to choose right skills for right situations and even to do different builds as a melee (or one of the two others).

Few more ideas...I gave some thought to death penalty because currently it makes no difference if you die or not...there definately should be something that makes you fear dying and to battle for your life. The most common solution is exp penalty but I think the most cool one would be to lose random item you are wearing, like the monster would steal something. It wouldnt be end of the world but definately something that would make you think few times will you try this boss alone and so on...

Secondly to add to my previos post I really would like to see set items implemented at some point. It's very fun to hunt for certain set and the set bonuses should be rewarding...

At the moment, there are many vital and important things that are being worked on for the upcoming patches. Things that will support the game structure, give players more to use their time on, and keep the critics at bay. Things like guilds, pvp, trade, pvp, pvp, pvp.

These all seem like large topics right? Well, what happens to the smaller ideas/suggestions during the vast expanse of time between patch releases? I mean, the DR dev team can only do so much. It seems like many ideas will just be pulled down and washed away under the tide of "more important things".

Once these more important things are accomplished, who will sift back through the things that seem like "detail work"? It seems as though the majority of player suggestions should just be held to themselves until the time when the dev team can really consider them. Unless ofcourse they ARE noting certain ideas down.

Diablo had an economy, did that ruin the game? An economy expands the game, it doesn't ruin it.

I disagree any economy that would allow gold and items to be traded would also end up involving professional farmers in someway and THAT does damage the experience for everyone in game inflation skyrockets (often driven by the farmers to create demand for their services) the same applies to rare equipment. This game does not need any auction houses or trading in game for in game gold.

All that is needed is a secure way to transfer an item to another player that doesn't involve drop trading.

Add me to the list of people who does NOT want any form of gold trading allowed. No AH!!

The multi character accessible bank is an AWESOME idea!
