Bug? Intel 9XX series chipset
vB post 138277 - 09/14/08 03:08 AM |
I'm posting this on behalf of character "Lodress". Lodress' chipset (an Intel 9 series, I can't remember the exact one) doesn't support the new specular lighting feature. Even after disabling this feature (so sad....), she still saw a black rectangle where the new quest markers are supposed to be... |

I too am having the same problem and I probably have the same chip set, I had to turn off the shading cause it was making my character half black and the bottom half normal colored. Shame cause I bet the new shading looks good :\ Also im getting the wierd black rectangle things about the NPC's heads too. -------------------- Leader of Legendary 30+ Members Gollias lv 100 since Aug 07 Me & Overpowerd hitting lv 100, back in Aug 07. Im using a Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family. I've had no problems with DR in the past. Other things i've noticed is the new boss, is solid black with the except of a few purple horn things I can see normally. Some weapons I see people running around with are just solid black. Also these wierd rectangle things up on the npcs withere the questions marks are. Been a subscribing member for over a year now and hope, this issue will get resolved. Even if it means I dont get to see all the fancy new shading and whatnot, i'd still like to be able to enjoy me some good ole dungeonrunners, with things not being all wierd. -------------------- Leader of Legendary 30+ Members Gollias lv 100 since Aug 07 Me & Overpowerd hitting lv 100, back in Aug 07. This is why the specular lighting option was implemented although I haveno clue what to do about the NPCs. Anyway Turning of SL will clear up half your problem, along with raising your brightness.. -------------------- http://demosthenez.100webspace.net/d...=KingofCarnage |

vB post 138335 - 09/14/08 03:28 PM |
I have turned off the SL option and all those things are still solid black. When I had it on it made my char half black, so turning it off resolved basically not much but seening other players half black usually from the waist up. I also always play with full brightness on and there still is no diff in the solid black and all the other issues. -------------------- Leader of Legendary 30+ Members Gollias lv 100 since Aug 07 Me & Overpowerd hitting lv 100, back in Aug 07. Have you tried applying the pipeline fix to your pts user.cfg? If not, please try that and let us know if it works. Here's the link |

so -- if I have that chip, the answer is "out of luck, kid?" If you are writing applications that are incompatible with certain hardware, you are going to lose all those customers. It is the job of the devs to make the application compatible, not to chide customers for not having the equipment the devs think they should have! -------------------- CatWalksByHimself Please help out by contributing to TheTownstons Wiki http://www.thetownstons.com |

They are working on the problem. If you will read the patch notes for the next release they may have it fixed. -------------------- RockSlide / Reader / Lebowitz The Character Viewers I use: http://threeplanetssoftware.com/software/dr/ X http://www.drplayers.com/net/dr/ Made by the fans for the fans. 2. Computers, like any other tools are built for a specific purpose. If a graphics card was never meant for gaming, and is incapable of several important features a game graphics engine needs, then you will run into problems. Would you go street racing in your grandmother's old Buick? Probably not. It works great for every-day commutes and grocery store trips, but it's just not good at that whole drag racing thing. It was never built for it. There is only so much a game developer can do. If your integrated graphics chip cannot do 3D-rendering because the hardware just is not capable of that, then any game that depends on 3D-rendering is going to look like something with big teeth chewed down the graphics and puked it back up. It sucks if that's all you have access to, but the bottom line here is that when you get past a certain point, it's just not possible to adjust the application compatibility any further. To go drag racing with that old Buick you need to replace the engine. It may suck, it may be unfair, but it is also the way things are. -------------------- Khaz: W4 Laker Girl Khaz of Shadow and Flame Fifty years from now, when you're looking back at your life, don't you want to be able to say you had the guts to get in the car? So all right, you guys are absolute genuises, master programmers and artists of the first water! I knew you could do it! The new boss now looks beautiful on my Old Grandma chip, and all the hulks and venomspitters are back to their old selves! I swallow my words and apologize for doubting you. And Khazandra, see how far downward compatibility can go in the hands of the masters? The lecture was unnecessary. My old Buick runs fine. I still don't know what "specular lighting" is, though ... ;o) -------------------- CatWalksByHimself Please help out by contributing to TheTownstons Wiki http://www.thetownstons.com |
