Re: My thoughts and suggestion on the Game

Heres my collection of thoughts:

  • Like Ghad and others have mentioned, it might be nice to have SOME required quests. Personally I would love to have an epic level 100 quest that I had to complete before I could continue on leveling (whenever the cap raises). Not just a "collect x" items quest. This quest could have its very own level 100 dungeon. And maybe there is a huge monster at the end, just waiting for you to slice off his head and bring it back to some NPC. I apologize for that graphic illustration. And I do realize that someone with a better aptitude for designing quests needs to be involved in this…not me.

*Do be careful to not add too many required quests because some people would not be very fond of that. If you are going to make them required, make them worth the time.

  • I agree that HDoL should be revisited.

  • I am excited for guilds, partially for socializing. I know it could "destroy the unique and special aspects of this game," but it would sure be fun to go on guild quests and slay huge monsters.

  • It is definitely important to gain more members, especially with the in-game ad problems. Although it might be ok to bash the freebies a little bit (lower xp gain, etc.), do be careful that you do not make them run away altogether. Consider limiting the new features that you come out with.
Example: limited guilds for f2p. Which might mean that they can have fewer members in their guild and half as much guild bank space.
Example2: limited player-owned houses. Free players may have a limit on the number of rooms and items they may use in creating their house.

**As time goes on, if you keep limiting new content, you will eventually build up your membership perks without bashing on the f2p's current gaming experience.

  • A DR store would be kind of neat. I would like to wear a T-shirt with Karl on it. As Darkwanderer mentioned, this might require a bit of money to start up. It may be better to think about this down the road a bit once they have a more steady cash flow. However, people walking around with DR logos would also be a form of advertising.

And to all a good day.

Personally, I think Guild creation should be a members only benefit. Free players can join, but only members can create guilds. That will make the power-hungry free players join. =P

I like that idea as well.

On the other hand, I don't think there should be content that cannot be tapped by Free Players in any way, due to the reason I stated before: it makes the claim "DR is a free game" somewhat invalid. It's something that has been criticised of many so-called free games where membership benefits account for 90% of game content (Runescape, anyone?): essentially, they are pay to play games with free trials. Rather, membership benefits should involve conveniences: such as what DR has now. Members have access to more of their loot, have better potions, more bank space, and in the future, faster leveling, cheaper KC Vendors and the Bling Gnome. All things that makes playing considerably less tedious, but are not required to experience the entire game.

I actually liked the suggestion about lettign free members have full acess for say 15 days then having thigns at a reduced level after that if they choose to stay free memebers. It will make the differences much more apparent

That I agree with. It's probably an effective strategy.

Cafe Press - no start up costs - no inventory...

CafePress.com offers stickers, too. I'd happily buy a 10-pack of stickers and paste them around local campuses... Of course, it'd be even cooler if we could get stickers with our own referral codes printed on them. Anybody that tried the game based on our unique stickers could then generate referral bonuses or prizes for us!

FYI - here's a little presentation I put together of some very high-level ideas (I made this months ago, btw) to generate buzz about Dungeon Runners:

DR Buzz Concepts

Knowing Gamers in general I wouldnt say 15 day but lvl 15 on one char. Some of us in 15 days could darn near make it to lvl 100 in 15 RL days and some of us would not even be out of Dew valley with the difference in play lengths and styles lvl 15 would be a more appropriate choice in my opinion.

OOO I really like the Shirt place you brought up ripper looks like it could really help out even if its just the free one to start with it could generate some extra revenue for the company and also generate some extra Advertising in itself.

If you guys put up some shirts on that Site I would be sure to Buy at least 1 or 2 I know there are many on this board that would.

I hate to say this: Nunja's right about the NCSoft Advertising Department......

No, I don't think he is.

First, let's be clear about a couple of things: one is that the NCsoft marketing department is not responsible for selling in-game ads. Our marketing department markets games; we have a separate contract with an external agency that sells (or doesn't sell) ad space in the game.

Second, our marketing department works best with a budget... but we don't have much of one. We're constantly working with them, though, and I think they're doing a great job. They've been very involved with us in doing things that can be done with a low budget, but not all of those fruits are visible yet.
