The F-Codex of Guides
#45651 - 01/28/08 05:52 PM

This codex isn't a complete compendium of all the guides out there, but to the one's that I personally have gone to over and over again or to ones' that seem popular and get a lot of views. While some of the guides are old, many still hold very valid information. I also thought it would be a good idea to list all the current character viewers in one place.

So, here's my list.

**General Game Play**

Ibalaki's Boss Guide - Frankly, an amazing piece of work that lists all the bosses up to chunk 2, their powers and resistances. A must read if you like to take on bosses.

JoeB1978's Dungeon Runner's Map Build 95 - There's a reason why it's stickied on the top of this forum. If they paid Joe a nickel for everytime the map was used / talked about in game... Download it, print it out and you'll never get lost or have to ask how to get to the Tainted Crypt ever again!

The Townstown's DR Wiki (warning: link goes outside DR forums) - run by forum legend, Legendrunner. It's the most comprehensive wiki of DR skills, monsters, quests, etc. It also has three very popular guides for an Insane Sissirat Fighter, a Poison Ranger and a Critical Ranger - all of which are well detailed. The latest update includes a Mythic Item database.

Foogle's Noobs - Go Insane - a very short guide on how to profit from the the beginning dungeons in Dew Valley and enter Townstown rich enough to buy all the spells and gear that you need.

Ripper's Guide to Submitting Reports - Every game has em - griefers, trolls, etc. What DR doesn't have is an in game way of reporting these knuckleheads. Ripper lays out where to go and how to submit a report that will gain attention of the Moderation / Admin team.

PopeUrban's Monster Baiting and You - Probably the most fancy, humorous and well done guide in these forums. Check it out. It's worth a look!

How to play DR without using the L mouse button - this isn't a guide per se, but it should be. The answer by Asheda really makes DR accessible with those with physical handicaps or limitations in using a mouse.

**Character Viewers**

Snarky's Character Viewer - A character viewer with a couple of neat new features: a top ten list and a way to look up character class titles. Updated every hour in deference to PvP players.

Demonthenez's Character Viewer - another very nicely made character viewer. Includes weapon dps information.

WiFiHi's Character Viewer - Probably the viewer that most resembles the character sheet in game. Nicely done!

**Character Builds**

Flydd's Guide on How Stats are Calculated - also stickied on the top of the Guides forum. Worth a look if you're really curious to see how things like melee or ranged damage is calculated. Definitely, not for everyone.

Overpowered's Complete AoE Xp Farming Guide (Mage Guide) - The guide is old since it was written in the days that gaseous blast didn't have a limit to how many targets it affected. However, the build and the guide is still valid and largely works. If you *must* have a level 100 and don't mind grinding in the Demonic Crypts for an awful long time, then this is the guide for you.

DracMorair7's 'Templar' Hybrid Guide - really, the only detailed build on how to build what is loosely termed a battle mage. This build wears fighter armor, uses fighter weapons but uses a mixture of fighter and mage skills. The build isn't complete and I'm not sure if the poster ever got the character to the end game (post level 80+); however, it does look fun.

The F-Guide for Building an Effective DR Character - *shrugs* Yeah, a plug for my very own guide. Use it to optimize your character once you get the hang of things.

There are unfortunately no really good/detailed/up to date ranger or fighter guides on these forums. There are builds for them (as mentioned before) on the Townstowns wiki.
