Launcher Error
#43211 - 01/05/08 03:06 PM

I've had DR installed for a few weeks now with no problems. I started the game last night and got this error:

Error: System.TypeLoadException: The signature is incorrect.
at MC.Launcher.Program.Main(String args)
at System.AppDomain.nExecuteAssembly(Assembly assembly, String args)
at System.AppDomain.ExecuteAssemblyByName(String assemblyName, Evidence assemblySecurity, String args)
at System.AppDomain.ExecuteAssemblyByName(String assemblyName, Evidence assemblySecurity, String args)
at NC.LauncherStub.Program.RunMainExe(String CopyExeSuffix, String AssemblyToExecute, String CommandLineArguments, String currentExeName, List`1argsList, Boolean shadowCopy)
at NC.LauncherStub.Program.MainImpl(String args, Boolean&handlerInstalled)
at NC.LauncherStub.Program.Main(String args)

Whew! Had to type all that. Anyway, I uninstalled DR and the NC launcher, reinstalled it and the game worked.....until this morning when I turned on my computer and tried again. Same message. Any help?

Thanx.

Sounds to me like a problem when you shut down windows. Are you allowing it to shutdown completely before turning off the computer (If windows doesn't do this automatically)? OR it could be a hard drive issue, bad sectors ect. If you have 2 or more drives or 1 drive with more than 1 partition try installing it on a different drive next time.

Might be a good idea to ask Tech Support about this

And that is just my 2 cents and a haypenny.

I shutdown my computer every night when I go to bed and have been for years. Shutdown is always routine so that shouldn't be a problem. However, I will try your suggestion about installing to a different drive and see if that helps. If not, I'll try tech support. Thanx much for the suggestions.....BTW, your avatar is awesome! lol

Update: I just got home from work and it started just fine. I did reinstall dotnet 2.0 so maybe that had something to do with it...maybe not. Dunno. Will let you know if I run into the same problem again.

Glad to hear that the problem may have been solved, albeit via a different solution. Game ON!!!

Well, it appears I've spoken too soon. The previous message was displayed in the form of a windows error message. NOW I'm getting a message in the PlayNC Launcher window that states the following:

Native method 'add_OperationBegin' on type 'NC.Utilities.AsyncProgressUpdatingOperation' from assembly '_Launcher, Version=1.3.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is not supported.

Isn't this fun?

Ok, I think I've fixed the launcher problem. Now the problem I have is when I click connect it will bring up the world list, I click on a world and click connect. It waits for about 5 seconds and says Error connecting to server. Doesn't matter which world I click on, I always get that message. If I click connect again (to bring up the world list) it says I'm already logged in. Anyone......?

ODIUM, I'm sorry you had so many problems!

Your error actually looks like one that we just found in our QA labs and we are looking into the cause.

It would be helpful if you could post which operating system are using, such as Windows XP, XP64, Vista, or Vista 64bit.

Thanks!
