#39161 - 11/18/07 06:07 PM

some suggestions for chunk #3 and 4

if you are in a 20 man guild you will have the option to buy land somewhere and create a castle

you will be able to hold guild raids to go and take over another guilds castle and gain their allegance so they can go out and raid and get the castle money.

12 new amulents, 20 new rings, 15 new swords, 8 new axes, 11 new armor,6 new boots, 5 new gloves, 7 new shoulders, 8 new staffs, 5 new bows

all new bosses: Zulraf, zalikhar, dargullth, dolvin,Gosh

new lvl 25-50 dungeon: Dargullth's cave of despair
new lvl 100 (party) dungeon: Gosh's cavern
new lvl 55 dungeon: dolvin's mountain
new lvl 80 dungeon: zalikhar's plain of despair
new lvl 35 dungeon: zulraf's torture room

improved filtering

new skills: Dominating swing, Ultra Shot,Shooting Blind, Volcanic Explosion, Hail of Gosh

new buffs: Duel wielding master, Mana penetrator, Surge of poison, Surge of Power, Mad Multi Shot

updated potion stacking: each nonmember can stack up to 10 minor potions, each member can stack up to 20 potions

Guild Jobs: in this chunk and if you are in the guild the guild master will be able to appoint jobs to each member in the guild to collect things to create items of all sorts such as, item collector, item creator, item vendor, etc...

guild emblem: you will be able to create an item to be attached to your character with a custo made guild emblem so you will know who is in the guild and who is an enemy.

Item sets: there will be dozens of item sets that if you have the whole set on you will get a temperary aura increasing something for your person

Castle managing: if you have a castle you will be able to upgrade it to a town where people can live and have huts that you have made for them but they will have to pay taxes and money for expenses that if they buy items from NPC vendors such as weapons, potions, etc..., you will also be able to hire guards to protect your town from other guilds who try to raid it, you will be able to hire archers, mages, swordsman, and knights.

auto loot system: if you want to pick up good items and not crappy whites or things like that you can go to the options menu and toggle on what items you would like to pick up like yellow, purple, or rainbow you can toggle on.also if your in a big group and your the group leader you can put on auto loot so you can just keep killing without having to pick everything up

characters: there will be a barber in townston that you can go to and choose a new haircut, or facial hair for your person that was not on the character creation screen.

character damage: if your person is getting attacked by certain monsters you will be able to see the damage that it has taken on you such as if your person gets slashed by a blademaster, wherever it slashed you there should be a scar on your face if he attacked you there or a slash on your armor if he attacked you there, etc...

stat point effects: if your a warrior and you have most of your points on strength your person will look more buff and built, if your an archer with most of your points on accuracy your person will look more athletic and slim, and if your a mage with most of your points on inteligenceyour person will look scrawny and slim.

new monsters: spawnling, orok crusher, orok gigantor, darkling swawn

improved drops: if you have the difficulty on regular there will be a 10% chance increase of drop rate for everyone.

rebirth system: whenever you die you can pay to come back to life instead of going to the graveyard every single time, but whatever level you are as your level gets higher so will the price to ressurect in that spot.

mini camps: there will be small camps in certain territories of a map so you can go there and buy potions or sell your weapons that you dont need in your inventory anymore instead of going to town and doing it there.

marriage: if you are in a guild and have a castle built the king or queen can choose someone in the guild to be his
bride or husband, but if the person rejects the proposal then they will not become married with you, and also if you are the person that the king or queen asked to marry you and you accept the proposal, the person cannot do anything accept for invite other players in the guild, so that means the king or queen (owner of the castle) has to permit you to do stuff with the castle instead of just going and messing it up.

paying: you will have the option to pay for items on the dungeon runners website if you want a set or just need a single item, the rarity of the item increases in $, so if you want common items such as a white, green, or blue then it will be fairly cheap (5-15$), but if it is a yellow, purple, or rainbow it is sort of high (15-60$)

smoother gameplay: more bugs have been removed

experience tomes: you will be able to buy experience tomes off of the website such as small exp tomes(5$) medium exp tomes(15$), large exp tomes(25$)

Chunk #5

towns: if you are a resident in a character created town you will have to pay taxes to stay in the town, if you dont pay and refuse to leave then the person who owns the town can send guards to force the person out.

Interesting ideas .......... some will come in time........ anything that involves gold trading in any form will not happen according to the devlopers......Seems alot of effort goes into guilds and such.....I question first why we need guilds in the first place.....second why I need a castle, third why should someone else decide how I can play the game that isnt a developer? ( case in point a Guild whatever ) This isnt a flame.I am curious as to your thoughts on this.

I like the idea of new dungeons, but there is such a cool rodent boss theme already in place that it would seem a shame to depart from that and go to all these Z boss names. The development team here definately has a sense of humor and creative ideas.

I do admire how much time effort and thought you put into this thread though. How much time did you spend on it?

i do know guilds are in the works but no need for castles and i am pretty sure there wont be any raids in this game.. I am for raids if its with under 20 people as it will give another dimension to the game but that isnt what the game was designed for..

Some good ideas and for 15 minutes you sure came up with alot of them. Good post

Ok, I want to react to all suggestions in order, but before that I want to say that the devs 99% sure have already things for chunk 4-5 and maybe 6.
Now.. let me see.. pheew

20 man group - buy castle Now Dungeon Runners is a typical Hack 'n Slash game, and if Im right Stephen ever said.. forgot where that it might be an idea for a guildhall, or something where the guild can come together ect. Personally I dont really mind an area for guilds, but dont make it too centered, after all this is a hack and slash game, not a regular overall MMORPG. A castle goes a little bit too far, I think, and it wouldnt perfectly fit in the game.

About the 20 man group, the max is 5 now. 20 Might be a bit too much, still I agree with you that there should be some dungeon that would be pretty hard and be accessable with groups of 8-10 man.

Raid Guild castle/and stuff. Again I want to come back on the part where I said I personally didnt like the castle idea, yet for the guild area I agreed. For raiding, I think it will get a step closer to what we not want to be (And I speak for a big group now), World of Warcraft (Sorry I mentioned that word, everybody). The general idea of guilds fighting together could be an option for PvP, but for raiding, I'd say no.

New items Every patch, chunk's and normal patches, items are added in quite massive amounts, this chunk for example made over 12 new amulet skins, 4 new armor sets, and hell of alot new fighter 2 Handed weapons. More will be added, so suggesting items of this and that wouldnt be good, just suggest when you got a new cool weapon design. Who knows it might be added in the game someday (Not sure by the way).

5 New dungeons Dungeons are added every patch, just like items as I mentioned in the part above. I think you're right about the levels for dungeons, as you can never have enough, can you . But on the serious way, I think that the level 100 dungeon would be good.. but then for 90-95+, as only 100s is making something too few could enjoy. This might be an idea to implant the 10 man's group.

New skills I agree with the new skills totally, I think both PvE and PvP would really benefit more skills, will get much more intresting. Sadly.. its much work to implant new skills, simply because in PvP and PvE they both need to get balanced, and not be overpowered in any way. If you make new names for skills, Its cool, even more cool is when you actually say what the skills about, a description

Higher stacking Potions Ah, I didnt expected that part in this suggestion actually. Theres a thread about it somewhere, Click, last two posts. . Short said: Theyn are already being boosted, but 20 and 10 would be too much of the good.

Guild Jobs Again, I like the idea for one part, other I dont like. People in a guild should be just free and do what they want just like the game is now, still I could be something, as you said, to have sort of item collect things, but then in a way of:"I donate this item to the guild", "Thanks now it can be given away to another member of the guild!". This will improve the give and get type of community we have now.

Item set boosts Short suggestion, short answer. I dont got a full set of my items, yet I farm already so long I.. yes.. too long. Would be unfair as people that do much effort to get a fulls et would be forced to live with certain stats.

Castle Managing Ouch, same reaction, I dont like a castle veyr much, but a town for yourself.. would be much too far away from the genre this game falls in, IMO. I say no towns, just guild areas, this is a hack and slash game, no Habbo Hotel.

Auto Loot system No auto loot system, Yes item filter. By the way the item filter already exists, option menu last option, you can make alt shows loot X and up.

Character Change Well.. Actually I agree 100% with you, I got a silly head now and I wanna change it Small addition, good suggestion.

Character Damage I dont really get the idea here.. If you mean that people should look wounded when in a heavy fight, I can only say that it would be too much work for the benefits of it, and why would you want to see blood and wounds?

Stat point effects Thehee, I would really like to say that lol, only problem is that character size increase would be same as much strenght. Still Something like that could be implanted, to show more what you actually are.

New monsters New monsters belong in new dungeons I'd say, more will come in more dungeons, I promise.

Improved drops Dont get the idea here not that much either, if you mean that on "Normal" (instead of regular ) drop rate would increase.. then I have no comment, can you explain that more a bit?

Resurrect That would mean that I, as a level 100 with LOADS of gold could just respawn everytime again? Well.. Death doesnt make a penalty already, think we should be happy and leave it like that

Camps in dungeons At one hand.. yes I like the idea, at the other hand I still do but got comment. Sally Gypsy is a place where you can sell stuff, so thats when your lucky and on lvl 3 of a dungeon. A NPC could be added where you can buy more pots indeed. But there is a reason for why your waypoint scroll is the only link to get to an NPC, because its quick. cast scroll, click, click, x click to buy/sell, click and in the dungeon again.

Marriage No comments in positive way, you know my thoughts about castles already, marriage goes much to far across my personal likes/dislikes line.

Buy xp tomes, member-pvp, buy item That would be pretty unfair for the nonmembers or people that dont have much money. I dont like when a game is lead by people that got much money. A game should be like that if your poor or rich, it doesnt matter your status in a game. Being member pvp would be totally unfair. Buy xp tomes would be really easy as you would be lvl 100 in no time while I worked for over 3 months for it. And buy-item would be the same, unfair.

Smoother gameplay Same, many bugs are removed everytime, and the devs do much effort to do so, dont expect them to do it even faster, thats why we got the Q&A and the PTS (Search is your friend )

New game mode I have my doubts, but it wouldnt hurt either, why not

Towns Said some times already, not something for this game IMO.

Guild Party's Outside in the whole game, I dont think it would be good. At the other hand having a "Dungeon" in the guild hall, where you can choose whatever dungeon you want (Already designed and made and all) for an amount of gold, it could be fun to make the group larger, yes.

New items Said already, being added all the time.

Pheew that was one hell of along time I wasted typing that, None of it is negative or in a flame way, I just noted what I think many players would think.

Without going point-by-point, my primary reservations would be that the ideas here would take the game from being a hack & slash quasi-MMORPG into being practically a job. The last thing I want in a game about running around and killing stuff is to maintain the tax rate on my town so my castle can prosper.

The whole idea of Dungeon Runners is a tongue-in-cheek slant on the "Too serious for its own good" MMORPG genre. I don't feel like a castle-owning hero in DR; I feel like a guy at an amusement park or something. No one is giving me ranks of nobility to control the lands outside of Townston, they just want me to collect tax records from the dungeon inhabitants and to stop them from protesting or disrupting reality TV shows or whatever.

I think a lot of the ideas are interesting ones for another games but they don't fit what Dungeon Runners is all about.

Hey you damn kids, get off of my lawn!!!

But in all seriousness...although I applaud your creativity and enthusiasm you need to take into account other factors before some or any of these ideas can be realized.

Dungeon Runners as a game system has been in development for about 2 years which included a very long beta test and a long period of invite only limited release. The code is a hand me down from an RTS game previously in development called Exarch. One of the original reasons for the development of Dungeon Runners was as a testbed for NCSoft to try out a freetoplay/small subscription business model to see if it was viable. The development team is quite small, nine people plus some contract artists, and has a very limited budget.

The complex game systems and extremely large amount of art assets that you have suggested would take another year or more likely much much longer to put into the game. Are you willing to wait that long for this content? Adding in items, monsters and dungeons takes the effort of artists, coders, and designers and it takes time and then has to be tested both internally and externally before it reaches us, the players. Some ideas like the ownership of castles/towns may not even be doable within the limits of the game engine much less applicable to the spirit of the game as a casual hack and slash with lots of humor thrown in for good measure.

I think many people find the simplicity of Dungeon Runners, much of which is by design, as "lacking" but I personally find this to be the game's greatest strength. I am fully supportive of the addition of new content over time for Dungeon Runners, but it needs to extend what we already have and not interfere with the core game by making it overly complex simply so players have "something to do".

I have to comment specifically on two of your suggestions as I think they are ideas that I would never want to see.

The first has to do with external real world payments for in game items or experience. Do you really think people should be able to buy their way through a game without the effort (and in the case of Dungeon Runners the fun) of completing the game content as presented? I sure hope not as it has the probability of becoming an unfair advantage for certain players at the expense of others. We've already got a real world that works this way, please let's not let this kind of thing happen in our virtual world.

Second is the idea of mandatory group content. This is something I think we resolved in the beta test when most of the boss encounters were very very difficult and required a group to complete. Players really wanted to be able to solo all of the content in the game and felt it fit well with the concept of short play time commitments and the openness of content. Grouping isn't required in Dungeon Runners, but it really does enhance the game experience greatly. This is where guilds and specific guild content needs to be implemented very carefully so that nobody gets left out of content because they have chosen not to join a guild.

A large portion of the things you have suggested are already in the pipeline so you'll just have to keep playing to see how it all turns out. Of course it may or may not be what you expect.
