2 Blue screen types and 100% CPU usage
#38486 - 11/06/07 05:07 PM

I already post some of the problems here – the first two.
I’ll just polish them a little and add more details.

1. After I start the game my CPU goes to 100% usage
I have FreeRam XP to monitories things. The memory (ram) is used only half of it. Here is the picture. The CPU goes like crazy after I start the game.
I’m not the only one that had this issue.

2. Blue screen (0x00000050 error) and then reseting
The error stared exactly after I installed the game. Here is a picture I made with my camera. It appeared only for 1 sec and then the PC reboots automatically, so it was quite hard to do it. It was quite frustrating before I could take the picture, because I didn’t know the cause of all these resetings.

Till I disabled the ‘Automatically restart’ option from ‘Startup and recovery’ tab, my computer kept restarting (very often) and had a 0x00000050 error that is for low memory, but I already have 1 gb memory an 1,5gb page file sys. After I disable the ‘Automatically restart’ I had this issue only once, but I played almost 10 hours in a row.
Could be a software conflict between the graphic card ram and the game.

The reason that I made a special thread for my issues is that a few minutes ago my PC got a new blue screen error (first time that I had it):

3. Blue screen error:
*** STOP: 0x0000008E
*** Nv4_disp.dll
– etc
picture
This is clearly a graphic card error. When the bug occurred I had the last driver from them (6.14.11.6218 from 29.06.2007). After this I went to their site again and saw a diver that was released today: 6.14.11.6375 from 04.10.2007 – the exact text at drivers details. I installed just now and I’ll see if this problem persists, but as the error are very rare lately, this could take a little time.

Here are some additional info:
- I read the Microsoft post as well as other info on the net and I found very useful this page that explains briefly a potential cause of the problem
- I didn’t get these errors before installing the game and I only get the errors when playing
- My specs are:
CPU AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (2.30 Ghz)
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS, 256 ram
Kingmax 2x512 ram
Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 971P
Win xp professional,2002, with sp2
(if you need more details on something else just tell)

I am sure this has been suggested before but have you submitted an official support ticket for your problems. We can only make some suggestions here because we don't have the info we need to fix your problem. I know ripper suggested this to you before but didn't see a response if you did it.

From Microsoft

I have received the nv4disp blue screen a while back but that was on an old board. Turns out it looks as though the northbridge on that board was going out. Off hand... what are your board specs? Brand, model, etc.

JoeB1978 I didn’t submit an official support ticket, yet. Do you refer to this thing: http://help.plaync.com/cgi-bin/plaync.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php. Can I just send them the link where I posted the problem? I didn’t send them a question before and I don’t know if the link would be enough

Tetness well I knew I forgot something in my hurry. I just restarted my PC and went to bios to gather all the info. Since I can’t edit my own post (and this is not ok) I’ll repost my specs here:

CPU AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (2.30 Ghz)
Motherboard Asus A8N-E bios version 1011
Lan on board - NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller
Nvidia Leadtek WinFast GeForce PX8600 GTS TDH, 256 ram (gddr3)
Kingmax 2x512 ram (333Mhz) dual channel
Hdd: ST380011A and ST3300622AS
Sound card: Creativ Sound Blaster Live! 24 bits
Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 971P
Win xp professional,2002, with sp2

Something to try. From my experience it looks like a memory issue. But, I just spent the last hour digging through looking for specs on memory compatibility for your board and I come up with nothing. One thing I did find though was people talking about dual-channel giving them issues on that board. So, have you tried taking it out of dual-channel mode? There seems to be some weird stuff with the nforce4 boards so it's worth a try if you haven't.

Tetness 10x for the time& help
JoeB1978 ok. Great. We speak about the same thing, only that I put there the final (direct) link. I’ll make an official tech request, probably in the week-end

Thanks again guys. Let’s wait and see what they are saying about this.

It might help, but I had blue screens every 5 minutes quite some time ago, it was not possible to live with, but they disappeared on a strange way. They only come back with the game Black & White 2, which is quite graphical heavy. I am talking about the file ATK_Disk.dll, and I found out it happends to quite some games, also for other people. It seems to appear at Nvidea Ge-Force graphic cards. And ATK_Disp.dll was located at Windows/system32/ If I remember correctly. This file controls your whole settings ect, removing it will result in 4 bit screen with 32 colors hehe.
Might not be the same, but as it ends with _disp.dll it could make a link.

My graphic card is NVIDEA Ge-Force 6600 GT by the way, next to that we both got an Athlon, but thats it.
I need to say again that I totally have no problems at all anymore for myself.

I didn’t find ‘ATK_Disp.dll’. I search the file in the partition I installed everything (C) and I didn’t find it. The same with the other partition (D). So apparently I don’t have it.

But I just send a question to the tech support. It’s funny that after I wrote all the info there and I push continue I arrived in a screen with the create a new account thing. Of course I didn’t create a new account, as I already had one, but…

Victor, support requests require a support account, which is separate from your PlayNC account. In order to receive official technical support, you'll need to create that account first.
