Need more memory. Go to 512 minimum.

I got same problem:

2GHz C7 (128kB L2 Cache)
1GB PC3200 DDR2 (400MHz)
ATi x1550 256MBDDR3 PCI.

I believe its the CPU, but when I try the Pipeline fix, I get very very laggy.
Any suggestions (except for new hardware)

while in game press alt+tab then ctrl+alt+del and check your CPU usage. i guess it will be 100%... Have the same thing and do not have a solution to fix it...

About 100% yes.

The thing is. I can play for a while with avg 10 FPS.. But suddenly its stuck at 2 FPS in dungeons, and 8 FPS in Townston. Only solution is to restart game.

What can I do, to make less CPU use?

Im not trying to criticise yor video card. but all the FX 5xxx series cards are truly crap. i have played many games and nearly every one of those games people complain of very poor performance with the fx 5xxx cards.

Upgrade the card and also upgrade your system memory to a min of 1Gig. if you can afford it of course.

Try lowering your resolution to 640x480 you will get twice the frame rate of the default 1024x768. A fx5200 is touching the minimum spec for this game, but should still offer playable frame rate. Going to 512 megs could not hurt either.

well maybe your computer runs fine on the log on screen but can't handle the amount of pixels in game?

if there is a system where you can change your game details i advise to do that.
don't run any other programs while playing.
clean out your computer then run a defragment on you (:C) drive.
that will probably put your fps from 4 - 40.
i'm not sure what fps i'll run in game since i'm still insallting
hopefully its high
and run a AVG scan on your computer.
anyway this might help.

This bug is known. No matter what you computer configuration is(mine is 2ghz intel p4,1gb drr ram,pov nvidia 7300gt), for some reason as Dungeon Runners starts, it eats 100% of CPU. Thats a coding issuse. I had all of my startup cleaned, registry cleaned, services disabled, had a fresh copy of winxp and it still eats a 100% .. I have no viruses 1005.

lamer - this is not a known bug and your statement regarding "no matter what you computer configuration" is completely false. I have this game installed on three different machines (ranging from low end PC to relatively high-end laptop) and it runs well on all of them. I--and most other players who's systems meet the minimum requirements--don't have any issues. In fact, there are plenty of players who's systems don't meet the minimum requirements and can still play the game.

There have been issues with some specific graphics cards, but those were addressed. At this point, it appears that these issues are isolated.

For everybody else - there are a lot of variables with performance for any machine for any game. Some of the things lamer mentioned are valid. Remember, your PC is like a car. You have to perform regular maintenance on it. You need to ensure that the additives you put in it (applications) won't cause more harm than good. You need to know how to drive it! Here are tips for every game machine:

* You should always have a clean system with as few applications and services running in the background as possible. Personally, I use Ace Utilities , which has an excellent user friendly Auto-Start Manager (yes, that's a screenshot of it running on my laptop, yes, I culled the start up applications from 20 to 7 and 2 of those are probably not necessary - that's a fantastic improvement). It has other great utilities, too. Turn off p2p/torrent applications and/or processes while gaming! Turn off iTunes, WinAmp or other audio programs while gaming! Etc, ad nauseum. When you're gaming, only do gaming!

* Your machine should be defragged regularly (even after a clean windows install). Personally, I use Diskeeper (they're the ones who made the Windows defragment utility, but their commercial software is umpteen times better)

* You should be using WindowsXP (sorry, Vista still sucks for gaming).

* You should have the best BIOS and Chipset for your machine. The latest aren't always the best, so do some research.

* You should have the best Graphics and Sound Drivers for your machine. The latest aren't always the best (especially Catalyst drivers), so do some research. If you install new drivers, I highly recommend you clean your old driver remnants with Driver Cleaner Pro (it used to be free, but now it's $10 - still very well worth it) before installing the new drivers. If you're a laptop user, your driver options will probably be more limited.

* If you're not using a hardware firewall (and hardly anybody does), then make sure you have a software firewall (even the Windows Firewall is better than nothing). Antivirus software is recommended, too. Both, especially if you have an always on broadband connection to the internet. That being said, avoid Firewall and AV applications that hog resources (Symantec and McAfee are notorious for doing so). Personally, I use NOD32 (antivirus) and Comodo Firewall Pro . Both have extremely small footprints and memory usage AND are tops in their respective classes of software.

* If you get a pop-up asking you to or recommending that you install software don't do it. I've spent hours scrubbing family member's machines because they installed every freaking application (like Weatherbug) for which they were prompted.

Barring these general tips, try opening up user.cfg and pasting in Pipeline = VFPF in the section titled [Display] (anywhere in the [Display] section is fine).

Also, please note that DR is very heavily CPU-bound. Your CPU actually makes more of a difference in certain aspects than your graphics card does. One of the devs could explain the details much better than I could, however. Also, having extra memory doesn't hurt...

Lastly, open an official support ticket. Click here to access the support site. If you've never used it before you'll need to create a support account first. Work with support. They want you to be able to play!

I have the same issue as ‘lamer’ has. Till I disabled the ‘Automatically restart’ option from ‘Startup and recovery’ tab, my computer kept restarting and had a 0x00000050 error that is for low memory, but I already have 1 gb memory an 1,5 page file sys. Anyway I checked things out and I don’t think that is my graphic card (geforce 8600 gts), nor the monitor divers (Samsung syncmaster 971p) though they could have issues together…it’s probably the game. But as I’m addicted I’ll continue playing

Can you explain what does this do? I’m willing to try some things to get my cpu (3.7 ghz sempron) down from 100% usage, cause this is stressing it a lot. Or maybe I could wait for a patch from the dev…if more have this problem.

Also ‘lamer’ please tell me if you succeed in resolving this problem in any way. I tried everything that I know and the last thing that I did was to disable the restarting option, so I could play the game. But this doesn’t resolve the issue.

I have one question: I didn’t have the time to read all the forum, cause I’m new in this game, but is there a special topic for this issue? I’m sure that many have it.

Please note, I'm not a dev, so I can't speak on their behalf. To the best of my knowledge, there aren't any known bugs regarding CPU utilization. That doesn't mean there aren't bugs. For example, might this be an issue with certain processors? Maybe, I don't know...

Here are some links regarding error 0x00000050:

Microsoft KB article
Microsoft KB article 2
Microsoft Technet Article

The bottom line, in regards to your specific error message, is that something seems to be wrong with your computer, not the game. These errors seem to be caused by drivers, hardware failures or malware. Also, it doesn't matter how much memory you have if you're running out. If you're getting virtual memory low messages, then you're having problems with your system and/or it's memory. When you get those messages, hit ctrl+alt+del to bring up the task manager and see how much memory is currently being used - look at the processes to see what specific ones are eating up your memory.

10x for answering.

I’ve read the articles on Microsoft’s page and others too (the best in my opinion is here), cause I wanted to discover the problem. Otherwise I didn’t have a chance to try to fix it.

The error stared exactly after I installed the game. Here is a picture I made with my camera. It appeared only for 1 sec and then the PC reboots automatically, so it was quite hard to do it. it was quite frustrating before I could take the picture, because I didn’t know the cause of all these resetings.

I have FreeRam XP to monitories things. The memory (ram) is used only half of it. Here is the picture. I think this pretty much gives an answer to the last part of your message. The CPU goes like crazy after I start the game.

Most probably is a software conflict and could be something related to the video card or monitor drivers, but I can’t do more then I already did

And about the question about the quoted text…what exactly does ‘Pipeline = VFPF’. Where did you find this info?

Maybe I’ll get on-line tech support. But for now I’m not so motivated because the game works, but I don’t know how much damage it does this to my CPU.

victorash - the pipeline = vfpf fix is referenced in this sticky thread:

Linky...

I don't think it applies in your situation, but it won't hurt to try.

I wrote that in the config file, cause it can't do damage.

well this is kind of it. If I'll get to the bottom of this problem I'll write the solution here, but I tried almost everything I know. Maybe when I'll reinstall the Windows something will change, but for now this would take at least 2 days and I don't have the patience to do it right now, so I'll just wait for a fix or something, hoping that my CPU won't mind being stressed like this
10x for the support
