True, mages can(could) do alot of damage, but it was at the expense of life. I dont know about anyone else, but when I group with a fighter, it doesnt matter how good I play, how awesome my gear is, I'm the first one dead. That is the trade off. Mages do the damage, Fighters are the meat shields, and rangers are the sweet-spot in the middle. I agree with teh skeleton's statement, you should _never_ nerf, it will always remain in the minds of the players who are effected that they "used to be good," and that now they suck. It's better to buff things around something than to nerf something. |

im agree. it would has been enough to give the mobs more hp and a little bit hp refresh...to try step by step where the limit is. i have no fun anymore and im too old to think to lvl up a char in a hard way is worth that time. then i will simply cancel my membership and will never play again. life is so rich...if they want me to spend some time of my short life, then only under my conditions. if they really dont adjust that patch, then im out. they wont care and i wont either. I understand that, but consider this situation. If a skill can do 2000 damage when everyone else is doing 10 damage, I can understand that nerf. When everyone is doing 2000 damage, and then suddenly someone's doing 10 damage? Hell no. Unfortunatly this situation is liken to the latter. |

Well I was pretty apprehensive about Build .49 after reading the patch notes. We got exactly what I thought we'd get, some rather extreme reductions in player character power versus the game system. I kinda felt the same about .44 back in December but with a lot of playtime it turned out to be a much better balance, particularly for caster only (mages who do not use physical weapons) player characters. I was finally starting to feel strong about my character's abilities using a high intellect/low everything else strategy at level 85. I could do enough DPS to be efficient and move through leveling in a reasonable timeframe. I could do a full level in about 2.5 hours running Fade Caves. I played for more than four hours last night and did not complete the level between 86 and 87. This is probably one of the reasons for the across the board player nerfs, to slow us down in leveling. I'm really not liking "monster molasses", way too strong an effect, this needs to be cut down. Obviously the problem with the decrease in bolt spell range where caster mobs can hit us at a range where we cannot hit them has to change. I did figure out some new stratgies that compensated for my firebolt damage decrease but holy smokes if the difficulty level was very high before, now it's really really tough. So for everyone under 50 plan your toons well so you will be prepared. Also re:boss soloing Build .44 was the only build where players were across the board able to solo the end bosses. -------------------- ------------------------------------------------- MamaAnarchia Level 100 Genius Arch Arcane Mage Parkaboy Level 53 Athletic Seasoned Poison Ranger CaycePollard (50) BooneChu (8) Retired. |

To be honest I'm not having any problems with the nerf at all. I just switched from a heavy int gear build to a heavy end gear build and I'm an AoE killing machine. At lvl 31 I've got around 4500hp and mana. Bosses are soloable for me, but I do have to use a lot of potions. The only real complaint I have is that the armour skins mages are forced to wear make us look like peasants. Not much of an roleplaying element to it at all. I'm pretty disappointed with a game that doesn't allow mages to wear heavy robes and other concomitant mage-like equipment. |

I agree about the monster molasses 50% is too much 25% would be a lot more reasonable. Shadow bolt should be the same cast range as fire bolt and ice bolt maybe just a tiny bit less like one step. Fire damage should do more than ice bolt and shadow bolt as well. I think ring of fire needs a slight buff too the damage is too low hitting multiple mobs with it can be tricky unless using point blank I'd like to see it disperse slightly a bit upon hitting a mob with it to help compensate for missing multiple mobs, but make the dispersed damage do half as much. Int needs a boost for damage and I think the amount of hit points given for leveling needs to be increased it's really sad when I can have under 1000 hits points in my 30's with pure int gear. |
