heh. i'm glad you said it ripper. that was my first reaction to that post. i've never seen them post help on the boards (and their no of posts seems to indicate little movement on the board) but the board is not indicatve of the game. maybe they've been in in the last few days, whilst i've not been in. but yes, the point is, the post came off as very pompous, and arrogant. certainly would be hard pressed to grab the respect of the "veterans" -------------------- The FAQ-Read it! Hello Veripare_Star, I applaud you in your effort to create a Dungeon Runners guild. Unfortunately you are not the first to try, there have been a couple people in the past that have put out feeler messages but little to no result came it them. I don't know how long you've been playing Dungeon Runners, but you may have already noticed that guilding is not supported. The best you can do is have everyone add every guild member to their friends lists. Not very practical, but it would work for a small guild. Also, Dungeon Runners just isn't a guild game. Most players play exclusively solo because the content is exclusively solo. Sure there is the HDoL, but that is for paid-members only and that makes up a very small percentage of the player population. And, as Stephen pointed out recently, most players play for very short durations, which isn't great for trying to organize any sort of guild activity. The single greatest problem working against guilds at the moment is that most people are not playing beyond a few weeks. Granted, it's mostly because people are not satisfied with the game in its current post-beta state, and the next patch should help fix that. But ultimately these "free to play, pay to upgrade" games are way too common these days (litteraly hundreds of them out there) with many more on the horizon. People try one and then move on to the next. Sure, there will always be the vets of the game that stick it out for many months, but those people are rare. If your guild is successful, you find in short time that your guild will be a revolving door of members. My friends list has a hundred people that I thought would be around for a while, but I have not seen logged in for quite some time. The reality is, these type of games don't retaim players like the WoW's or EQ's. I know this is not what you want to hear, but it's best you see it this way before you invest too much time in it (perhaps too late). If you decide to stick it out for the long haul, I wish you the best of luck and perhaps our paths will cross in game some day. |

Quote: You said what now? since when was HDoL members-only. i was in there only last week and i'm a non-member. yes a lot of the drops are yellow/purple and occasionally rainbow, but it's good experience. a fun group run, and blues and greens drop as well. -------------------- The FAQ-Read it! Quote: I've been playing for approximately a month, give or take a couple of days. I didn't trumpet my reputation. That's a simple statement: I like to help people out, that's how people know me. On a lesser note, using big words doesn't intimidate me. Quote: You're doing a good at judging a book by it's cover. I've been role-playing for seven years now, this March. If you didn't take a hint of at least a bit of persona play in my post, or on the Shadow Order's website, then you shouldn't be criticizing me as a role player. Quote: Well it's too bad, after the spork accident and all, that you can't feast your eyes on the new layout. Also, I have an awesome sense of humor. You don't know that about me either, do you? I bet you also don't know that crude humor does nothing for me. Quote: I'm Canadian, I don't watch American Idol... Even if I did want to watch some reality TV, it wouldn't be wasted on an American TV channel. Quote: I'm upset that I can't have a tame discussion because several people have posted spam messages and completely irrevalent posts. Quote: Thank you for posting something I can actually reply to without attracting flame bait ... well hopefully. I haven't had the time to search the archives so I didn't know that others have made attempts such as mine. I've been playing for about a month. I know that there is no guild system ... yet. I just want to get a little quick-start ![]() I know that DR is a slow paced game. I frequently take breaks myself, contrary to World Two belief. I myself am a member and I do plan to explore HDoL with 'guild mates' once more sign-up... (Yes. A couple of players have already joined) but that is NOT the main focus on the guild. I want to find players who like to help other players. I want to create a Dungeon Runner community that is more then: Powerful player, Farmer, Socialist, troll, noob - pick a max of three. I know that there will be ups and downs. I play a wide range of MMOs. Average guilds and clans loose members every week, if not everyday. I know for a fact that this will happen. The players I'd like to join up with are players who are casual, helpful players. Hopefully the 'rare players' will stick around permanently and with me ![]() I have quite a long friends list too. Some of them haven't logged in for a two weeks plus. You speak the truth; DR isn't as addictive as WoW and EQ, but hopefully that will soon change with the new patch being released soon. I have put a lot of my time in this project. It's sad to say but it is too late ![]() Seeing as I do plan to stick with this thanks for the luck ![]() |

Quote: No problem. I'm not sure why your thread got hijacked like it did. Do they still teach "respect for others" in school these days? ![]() I think your site looks good, though I prefered the previous font and colors before you changed it. The new blue on purple links are a little tough to pick up. The lightning in the background is very cool though. ![]() Since it seems like you are in this for the long haul, I added a link to your site on the Dungeon Runners Retreat Guild Listing. You will notice that you are the only one there. If you would like a better description than "The First (un)official DR Guild", send it to me and I'll change it. Try to keep it under 100 words. ![]() |

This thread is about ready to get severely clipped. Yes, the old saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" does indeed apply around here, at least when it comes to talking about other people. You can criticize the game (as long as it is constructive, of course) but the rules are different when it comes to others. There will be no more warnings on this matter. Relax, have fun, and don't take each other too seriously! We don't need to pick apart what someone else says. After all, we're Dungeon Runners...we aim to be the silliest NCsoft game ever. If we can only get rubber chickens for Karl to throw about. I think that would be sweet. /now, back to the guild recruiting /don't make me get out the ban stick -------------------- "Always keep your words soft and sweet in case you have to eat them" Crickette Dungeon Runners Community Manager Edited by Crickette (03/06/07 10:58 AM) |
