For the oldtimers lvl 30+
#14731 - 02/09/07 04:09 AM |
DISCLAIMER: this is in no way an attack on the devs, or the game itself. the devs agree, more content is needed, and they ARE working on it, but it could be as far as 2 or three months away. Do you find the sounds of all the new players raging about the game on day one or two deafening/annoying? do you find it insulting when they try to tell you that you should pay for the game because it's such an amazing game after they have played only a few levels in? i'm kinda curious if you do, how you handle it. i kinda got mobbed today by all the newbies trying to tell me how wrong i was, and how the game would never ever get boring, and how they still found it hilarious yet they had only been playing a few days/lvls to my month or 2 and 46 lvls. it's like writing a review on a book after reading the first few pages, and saying it's more accurate than a review written by someone who's read the whole thing. (not that i am maxxed, so maybe half way through the book) this is also not meant to be a dig at the new players. they are entitled to their opinions, and to share it. it's just a little hard to adjust to the huge influx of new players ooh idea?? a world where you have to be a certain level? meh prolly not -------------------- The FAQ-Read it! I hear ya. I was on last nite for a bit and there was quite a bit of raving, which is nice. I just stick to answering questions, trying to help out a bit if/when I can, and just ignore the raving. Really, comments like "This game rocks!" and "Townston, that's so funny!" don't need a reply. At least not from me, I've been there already when there were only about 9 noobs on the server and 2 or 3 old timers. When the proportion is like 85 noobs and 4 regulars and 3 old timers... I just keep killing mobs. But that's just me. I saw you last nite gripe about getting online to a disconnected group, which gives me an idea. Keep the group formed, a group of 30+ chars. You don't need to run together, but you could /ignoreworld and chat amongst yourselves, and you'd prolly get more xp and more loot if you decided not to run together. I did that last nite, run off on my own while my group buddies were mostly AFK or otherwise busy, mobs are harder and give more loot than when soloing. But that was within the same dungeon, I don't know if it would work accross dungeons... I dunno, it just occurred to me... *shrug* adios, biterman. -------------------- It is time to toss the dice and hope that chance rolls in our favor. |

I feel the same way. It's fun for me...but I can honestly say that being 100 and still playing. It's all well and good when new players get excited, but I think it's too early for them to really voice their opinions. A great first impression is not a bad thing indeed, but I just hope these players stay here. |

I want the game to succeed, so I'm glad that so many like it. I haven't had much time to play lately, so I guess I've missed the newb mobbing in /world. -------------------- Swordgleam - Level 40-something Arcane Fighter Vanishing into the wilderness from May 25 to late August. |

I plead guilty on the count of newbie mobbing. heh... townston... hehe... however, I don't think it's fair to place the majority(I hope) of us good new players with the ones who go do as you said. What I noticed is that There are Six types of players. Non-member new players Members that signed up after playing for an hour Members that are new players, but didn't sign up right away Members that are Experience players with over a month of experience Goldoth and Non-Member Experienced Players. What I find, is that the majority of the Members that sign up after playing for an hour are the ones that will be aggressive if you tell them something you don't like. Example, people who become members, ask about the invintory looking the same, and then calling the first person to tell them about the bank noobs or something like that. I agree with you, Those people annoy the hell out of me and I occasionaly go out of my way to chew them out. (*remembers Lancelot or whatever that guys name was*) and If I did what you said, then it was purely for the sake of humor. Honestly, I am supprised people take me as seriosly as they do. I mean really... Cutting a cheesy swath of destruction through the horde of dungeon dwellers? come on. In closing, lolz y don u bcum member noob? hugs and kisses, Goldie |

kinda expected to get flamed by newbs on the this thread. i realise there are good newbs. i ran with goldie and a C named character (sorry i don't remember your name so many new names tht are similar), and both were fine, and fun to run with. i also agree ka-ching is in a class of his own. this is where guild/fan clubs would come in handy i think.. problem with staying grouped wit people offline is that you caan only group 5 and i do talk to far more than that, if they're ever around, although you're right its rare for there to be more than a couple of us on. my night crowd of newbs were very quiet. i think most of em are euros or aussies though, so maybe that explains it :P -------------------- The FAQ-Read it! Quote: Hmmm, Not sure exactly which I'd fit into...I'm super low level for having a 3 mo old character...lol. I'll dub myself into a new sub-class...Non-Member Intermediate Players. I was on last night and with the pop at ~32% the chat was dead quiet. |

Well i guess I'm a really old old timer because I've been playing for 8 months. New players babbling on about the game in /w doesn't bother me at all because it's happened all along through the more restricted parts of beta. I think that's how it's going to continue, the playerbase will be always shifting. This game isn't a long haul MMO, and I think it has been designed with an expanding and contracting playerbase in mind. -------------------- ------------------------------------------------- MamaAnarchia Level 100 Genius Arch Arcane Mage Parkaboy Level 53 Athletic Seasoned Poison Ranger CaycePollard (50) BooneChu (8) Retired. |
