New Stephen Fanboi
#14624 - 02/08/07 09:09 AM |
Yeah yeah I know, "geez, another one". Well, here is why. I am new, just started last night. I come on, mess around killing stuff in the forest and I realize something. I don't think my account is recognized for being a paid account. So I shout in the /world channel and folks suggested to relog. I relog and this guy is PMing me the whole time, and he apologizes for my trouble. I respond back, "It's all good, not like it's your fault". Then he comes back and says, "Actually yes, it partly is". And Boom right there, I thought, a developer, nay a lead developer in game trying to help improve things and actually conversing with the customer base, this sort of thing is rare. I work in IT, and most our developers are... introverts at best :P I am not because I don't really know anything about IT, but anyways, I thought it was great what this guy did and I truely hope that it continues. And as the world gets larger that more developers get involved with the community, not as a CSR, but just a guy or gal who knows the game and can make a difference in improving it. That shows that this game will be on a whole different level that most MMOs don't do. I know EVE does it, but their guys are undercover, which I can understand. My first impressions of the game though, were... well honestly, simple. I got a guy with only like 5 hair styles and about 8 faces (which is more than Vanguard heh). The graphics seemed... well simple as I said. But the gameplay was smooth. That makes up for a lot of stuff. The loot descriptions are hillarious! Weapon speed-freakin fast.. hehe. Grandma slow. The voiceovers were very very well done. Even the little jokes making fun of the folks who go all out at a festival (you know who you area) I thought was a nice touch. The camera angles when going up is a little rough, even when zoomed out all the way. I had a setting of 1280x1024 and was having some difficulty. Got stuck under a building and using the /stuck command sends you to the graveyard. It works. My overall assessment of this game is definatly positive and that is just my first impression. It would get a solid 8 out of 10 just because of the silly initial bugs in game and the graphics (sorry... gotta call it like I see it), but the game is awesome. Free game for everyone? Kick butt price for kick butt action. Keep it up and thanks again Stephen. -ShadowHawke |

I wanted to take this chance to say: This is a great game. The good definitely outweighs the bad (by about a ton). It's loads of fun and I'm very grateful for being able to play it. Just thought I'd say this to sort of balance out most of my previous posts with have been mostly critical. Shout out to you Stephen, and all the other devs... adios, biterman. -------------------- It is time to toss the dice and hope that chance rolls in our favor. |

Welcome Hawke! I too share your opinions, the first time I grouped with Stephen, I had no idea he was a dev. He was just another guy having fun farming Widowmaker with me! Props to Stephen and the whole dev team! ~Ripper |

first time id seen a dev in game (but then i live on the opposite side of the world, so timing is prolly off most days) Steve was doing a good job of answering questions and playing with the "peons" i don't know how he kept up with it all, the chat was scrolling along faster than i could keep up for sure, so yeah, hats off to ya steve -------------------- The FAQ-Read it! Why isn't DR in beta? coz the Big Boss Man said so! Ivalaine - Lvl 50 Waynger |

Yes I agree Stephen seems to be a pretty cool guy. Chatted with him a bit last night. Also hope that he and other dev's keep doing that too, get in-game and chat with us and have fun, etc The graphics I like them, fits the game. Yep love the jokes and how they had in silly little things here and there. As for bugs haven't ran into any besides seeing one mob stuck in a pillar. While he could attack me if close enough I couldn't attack back. I've enjoyed the game so far I've already invited 4 people. Two of which I know created accounts. |

Ya kinda neat to have the developers playing the game they are developing, most the games now a days it seems they cant even be bothered to play their own game. IE huge bugs or imbalances that mysteriously go un-noticed. |

One thing I hope for more than anything with this game... I hope Steve and the other Devs don't get burned out. Both from communicating with us, the demanding community, and building the game. I really like the direction of this ![]() |
