This is for any game, not just this one. Step 1: press esc,see what settings can be adjusted. Step 2: walk around and interact with NPCs. I like to help people by answering whatever questions I can, but the same questions keep coming up over and over. These are questions that you can answer for yourself if you just...I dunno...look around. Where is the trainer? I found the fighter trainer, where's the ranger trainer? Where is the bank? Where is an armor merchant? ...and so on. The town in this game isn't all that huge, and there's not many NPCs. Walk around and talk to them. That's usually the first thing I do in any game. Also, a lot of people ask how to change graphics and other game settings. Just like in ...every game out there, esc leads to these options. I know it's not that big of a deal answering these questions but after awhile it starts to get a bit annoying. |

Wow, and here I thought this was going to be a genuinely helpful and informative thread, instead of a whine directed at "those damn noobies". |

Those are two of the most helpful tips any newbie could possibly want. The first thing I do in any game is look for options to customize and a legend for the controls. I wish more new players did this... |

This forum could do with a genuinely helpful, walkthrough-like Beginner's Guide that will help new players get through and around the first part of the game. Who knows, I might do one myself one day. |

Quote:There's an entire zone and a number of quests designed to introduce the new players to the game, king's coins, NPCs, etc... On top of that, when you login for the first time as a new character, there's a mini-guide on the screen. |

True, and all those have helped me find my way around the game, but then, if these sources are so helpful, why does everyone still ask stupid questions? Then again, if no one even cares to read the in-game Quickstart Guide, chances are small they will read a manual on the forum. :p |

Sorry if it seemed like I was "whining" about "those damn noobies". I posted that to try to be helpful, actually. When I read it later I did notice that it came off as a bit of a rant where I was trying to explain why I felt the need to post it on the forums. I tried to edit the post to make it sound a bit nicer but I guess posts can't be edited. Anyhow..I was just throwing out a couple things that I felt were important for new players to know. Maybe someday there will be simple messages like these that pop up for new players to see when they first start .Things like: Right click your name in the upper left corner for player menu...click the OK box . Hold down the "x" key or middle mouse button to rotate camera with mouse...click the OK button. Ok...now half of this post belongs in suggestions forum. |

Quote:Illiteracy? (http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/4233/45673020a921302e30pb2.jpg) 99% of the questions i get asked are answered in either a quest or the help menu. People are either too lazy to read it or too stupid to comprehend it. I won't answer stuff like that. If somebody honestly can't figure something out on their own i'll do everything i can to help, but it's not my job to spoon feed them everything because they were too lazy to read it like i did. People realy need to just pay attention to the help menu and the first few quests. Those answer most of the questions newbies have. |

Quote:Step 3: Don't spam the level 100s asking to get powerleveled. It is frowned upon and extremely annoying...and to boot, it kind of puts you on our mental "black lists" for people we will refuse to help in dungeons. Helping out on a tough boss is fine, but if you spam us, you can forget it. Also, if we decline an invite, there is NO need to repeatedly invite us again. Doing any of the above more often than not puts you on /ignore __________. |

Amen to that. Thank you Tachan for the post. Your post is absosmurfly right and reflect the thoughts of many of the 100s so far. I have no qualms about answering questions about the game so that other players can PLAY. But asking me and any other player, to PLAY for you... I really don't think so especially on our nickle and our time. |

Amen! My ignore list is quite dense... i hate ignoring people but its rediculous trying to play the game with 20 invites in a row from 20 different ppl in a row! cmon have some respect, talk in world chat we always pay attention to it and respond if we see our *Name and a legit question* |
