I have noticed that when using a slow 2H'er my defense seems to be increased - ie. I take damage at a slower rate than when I have a fast 2H'er equipped. Even taking into account minor differences in stats such as +def, +str and even +end, the disparity is very noticable. When using the faster weapons, my potion consumption can increase by almost double.

Is there a hidden defense multiplier that works in conjunction with the speed modifier? To me that would seem to be the case. Anyone else noticing this?

No I haven't really.... I use a fast 2 hander poleax and its just as defensive as my 2 hander hammer was

I was wondering if a 2H with +STR on it(lots of it)
is better defense wise than a Shield and 1H weapon.

Here's somethign funny.

I used more potions when i was using a shield and a ludicrous 1H

than using a 2H weapon.

Also, i've been using less potions since i've been dual wielding daggers.

def is mainly based on STR... so if your 2h hammer has 100 str... but the 1h has little and the shield little, you will have better def from the 2h. also the 2h will kill much faster, requiring fewer potions. Relly, no one uses shields. I havent seen a half decent one in like 65 levels.

Well I think Shield should be boosted in DEf Rating.
Since there's no use for them when you can get a 2H weapon that gives you as much DR than a 1H and shield.
or put a modifier on them (seen some), +X% of defense rating.

But those were pretty low, like 1-3% make it more like 10-20% and you have use for a shield now.
