You make it sound like most of the DR community are mindless lemmings. Granted, they are out there, but I think the average player has the ability to figure things out. The fact of the matter is that certain builds, that use a certain set of skills and gear, are the most effective and, therefore, attract the most players. Of course, when people see "PLAYER1's team beat PLAYERX's team" over and over, curiosity will gravitate toward PLAYER1.

Also, there are lots of players who freely give out info about their builds (including the knowledgeable vets), so you have to take that into account. Plus, the skills a player uses in match are just as vulnerable to discovery as they are with XML (save for certain passives). Every skill has distinct animation or audio. So that basically leaves you with jewelry, which isn't going to make or break a build by itself.

Anyway, out of personal preference, I no longer use the viewers for pvp purposes, but I do often look people up for various other reasons. Although I would hate to see every other name I type in come back with "this player has opted out of the XML feed," I suppose giving players the option would be fair. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if it had little effect on the amount of "copycat" builds.

Now the jewelry plus the specs would add up to something though. Like you said skills have sound as well as just being able to see them. Isn't them being able to see half of what you are doing enough? It sounds to me like them getting half of your build sounded out and visible as far as the skills go and physically seeing the gear you're wearing as being half your build being told to them.

So wouldn't the COMPROMISE be to not telling them anything about another player's build be to keep half secret like the jewelry and how you put your stat points? Really how much has to be revealed for what I wrote above about the creative aspect of building a character, testing and learning it, then pawning with it before the creative aspect of pvp and pve charactor creating is non existing in Dungeon Runners with out giving handouts to everyone who has their hands out for someone else's build?

Granted the game makers made the game so technically they are all their builds but until a game player makes them implemented into the game they are a nonexisting build.

What, cause you picked your hair and face out of the few available choices that should be it? This whole looking people up does not exist in other rpg for a reason. I just see a lot of people riding the coat tails of those who were creative enough to create a build.

Other than that, I just don't agree with you. I don't think it's a big deal.

^Not only that, a lot of mmos nowadays also have "Replay" features where you can actually watch high-ranked matches in real-time.

So not only can someone "copy your build", they can emulate your exact playing style too. *shrug*

Get with the times, viewers are only going to become more commonplace, and pretty soon "Replay" options will be too. If you can't learn to deal with that then you may as well stop playing now.

Personally I don't mind the viewers, but when someone copies my exact build, same skill bar, same gear; then try to play like me.. it gets a bit annoying. Then when they say they 'own you' and they didn't use any ideas of the build they took from me and they did it all on their own.. can be VERY annoying.

You can't see where their stat points go by a play back. I should quit playing when I feel like quiting.

Replay is great but it does not show jewelry or stats so you proved nothing with your post. If you don't like that you proved nothing with your post maybe you should stop posting.

^Lol, it took you 9 minutes to think that one up? How slow are you? I see why people have simply stopped bothering with you.

@Nolan: Yeah, I agree that can be annoying. But that'll happen anyway, regardless of viewers. If a particular build is clearly dominant/competing better than other builds, everyone else will try to figure out the build then emulate it. It only takes a decent understanding of the game mechanics to figure out a build.

As others have said, popular builds will become well-known and popular, regardless if viewers existed or not.

WoW is probably the most massive mmo out there-- why don't you say something for that remark? noo instead we go after the comment which you can actually tear apart. <.<

Speaking of which, someone wrote a WoW Armory viewer for the G1-- if i knew how to do it and i had a linux i'd so write one for DR! XD

I did look at the character viewer and don't know what it would do for those games and their pvp system. I don't know WOW or those games enough to say. You did how ever find a viewer of a rpg how many others are out there I don't know so I shouldn't of said there wasn't any games with them . How much it effects the pvp I'm not sure there is a lot to consider, things like how many pvpers you face at once etc. I don't think WOW is set up like our pvp in DR and would have the same effect a viewer in this game has. I may be wrong about that but I don't have time to talk to my friends who play WOW being I'm in the middle of moving and am gonna have a lapse in isp. If I find anything relevant I will post it when I get back up and running. I don't know anyone who plays the other games you showed.I did say that there wasn't a viewer so you got me there, hats off to you on that one.

I do say this though with this game being some what unique and with limited skills we use there is only so much as to how a character is built and played and to reviel it all is a bit extreme.

I just think if you hide the jewelry and the stat points the rest would be fine for viewing being anyone who was to pay attention could see or figure the rest out. To say someone can figure out your stat points is different though ya sometimes they can get a ballpark idea if they are a skilled enough player but most people won't be able to do that.

Well I didn't realize I was being timed. I will have to try harder to keep my times between posting and living onto a stricter schedule. I also didn't know having an opposing opions was grounds for rudeness. The others quit bothering with me cause they got their feelings hurt when I showed them gold trading existed in DR.

I agree with that good builds will become popular. The diffence in opion is in the word "BECOME". What I am saying is if they have a character viewer allowing all to see a toon except for the jewelry and the stat points that it is gonna take time for others to figure out the build. In that time many of these builds will serve the purpose for the creator of a build and not everyone else. I also said that many builds become obsolete over time cause of new patches so it gives the creator time to enjoy the build while it is a good build with out everyone else having such easy access to it.

I'm not so much against having a charactor viewer as I was when I posted this thread now I am of the opion that it should just not reveal all. JUST KEEP THE JEWELRY AND THE STAT POINTS HIDDEN. This game is limited in the amount of skill slots we have and I think thats great for the most part. I like that it makes it a good challenge. So being we have so little amount of skills we can use at once I think the build takes on a more serious role.

I wasn't trying to avoid that guys post just didn't see that he had listed the character viewers from other games. I skiped right over that thought it was just his signature. Thank you for pointing that out. It actually along with a few others post made me want to change my opion a bit. I still would consider Dr's pvp compared to other games pvp sytem that have a character viewer. I would also consider the amount of gear, how many different types of stats, and how many different skills a game uses at once.

lmao... sure, why not...

It couldn't possibly be because we've had more rational responses from a rabid dog's fecal droppings.
