This is not about me, but a girlfriend of mine
She wanted to buy the retailbox but accidently bought "only" 6 Months.
Now she asked the support to cancel the 6 months and exchange it with the Retail.

She paid 20€ (Paysafe Card).
So it is for today $26.90.
$6.90 more than the box.

The Support sais "no".

I also sent this to stephen in hope he can do something for her :>

She doesn't care about the $6.90 she paid "too much". She just wants the gnome.

I think, since she bought it 24h ago it would be okay and fair to exchange it.

First off, Steve's just the lead developer, the payment stuff goes through PlayNC so I'm not sure Steve can do anything to help.
Second, If you bought a 6 month membership you can get the gnome too; you'll just have premium membership for a year.

I admit it's pretty silly for them to still have the "6-monthly" option if the gnome box is still available. They really should just remove it to prevent incidences like this, but if the support team already replied with a "No", unfortunately I don't think there's really anything else you can do . Blame corporate greed.
