What difficulty is recommended?
vB post 140929 - 10/02/08 02:03 AM |
I'm a noob, but Normal is too noobish, monsters are weak and a total bore. For a new toon, what is a good difficulty balance? Does experience scale upwards? Am I thinking too hard about this? Why is there a marshmallow rolling into my living room... |

Well, I can tell you this. At higher difficulty you get the same amount of experience, but more loot. The marshmellow rolling in your room isn't really there, seriously don't look at it or acknowlege it, It's just a figment of your imagination. |

Thanks, I'll consider bumping up to the next one for slightly better loot. And the marshmallow... is laughing at me... I ignore it but It just keeps laughing... |

Welcome to the forums btw. I usually run every dungeon at least 2 times, first on Normal and then on Formidable. The Extreme and Insane I usually use mainly for bosses. -------------------- __________________________________________________ "May The Rainbows Drop As Cows From The Sky" HDoL.eu - Horrific Domain of Legend - Your source to Dungeon Runners |

From experience, Normal is for grinding out experience, insane is for acquiring loot. I ran my first 40 levels on insane to get great gear, still not a single RB until I hit 47, but that was a long time ago. Running on insane yeilds great things if you don't mind gaining experience very slowly. So, I think, experiment around with each setting until you find a good balance that won't keep you bored or get you frustrated. -------------------- "That which does not kill us makes us stronger." -Friedrich Nietzsche bigredneck http://www.drplayers.com/net/dr/Show...spx?bigredneck XavierRayne http://www.drplayers.com/net/dr/Show...px?XavierRayne GilthasPathfinder http://www.drplayers.com/net/dr/Show...thasPathfinder |

Great, thanks for the tips. I've been running through Algernon on Normal just to get some levels and turning in King's Coins for gear. Once I have a whole day to rock out, I'll bump it up for a full clear to get those phatlootz! |

Normal for experience, Insane for Boss Running/Loot. Everything in between is just for show*. *Exaggeration. |
