Noob Questions: Wondering About Agi/Def
vB post 140233 - 09/26/08 02:31 PM

Hi, I'm just wondering how exactly everything in game works. Specifically agi vs def... How much Agi does one need to land most hits, etc etc.

Soooo, kinda lost on the calculations front, I notice in PVP I don't hit very often until I get up to about 4k ATK rating (level 25).

With 2 1h's equipped I have 859 max dmg on my Axiom and 905 on my purp off hand, with a 3774 atk rating, but in PVP, and sometimes in PVE I find myself switching my main hand to Not the Sword of Gosh, which, needless to say brings my main dmg down to 619 max and offhand to 869, but at least I can land hits with a 4726 atk rating. I need help finding a good balance between agi and str some where where I can hit in PVE and PVP with... Asking in game gets me no where, I;ve heard everything from "half str half agi, and alternate that 1 point to end/int every level" to "agi is completely useless for us fighters"

I also have a lack of HP (4412) and Mana (188). Which leads me to believe my distribution is wrong (which I'm sure it is)

Base Stats are 109str, 10Agi, 31end, 10int (level 25)
Actual (with my Axiom and Purple equiped) are 189str, 115agi, 107end, and 5int

All gear level 21+ with the exception of the level 16 Axiom (has nice stats and dmg though, can't really find anything to get rid of it for) and a level 20 ring

So my last questions are, am I doing something horribly wrong with my points (which I believe I am)? and what are the average HP and hits on a fighter this level in general?

That's all I can really think of to ask, thanks for reading this, and a future thanks if you answer. And ANY help, and tips are appreciated.

Also, I do realize there's a site for character viewing with equip and all, but it hasn't updated for 3 levels =( sure woulda been easier to link it though lol

Edit: Also, is there any reason why I get 14 ranger Rainbow drops per every 2 fighter Rainbow I get?

The general rule of thumb for fighter agility is: '100 attack rating x level,' so at level 25 you want a minimum of 2,500 ar. Max, though, should be about 150 x level, so 4k is a bit of overkill. There is a base miss rate that means no matter how much agility you have, you're going to miss.

Also, you have to get through your opponent's defense rating. If you're fighting a heavy armor wearing, shield carrying fighter, they can be tough to hit. If you're not using acidic blight, you will definitely want to make room for it on your skillbar.

For pvp, you definitely need more HP. PvP fighters' stat ratio often looks something like this 5:4:8- str:agi:end (roughly speaking, and of course there is some variation). To get some ideas you can go to dungeonrunners home page, click community>pvp rankings and look through some of the top fighters. Many of them are strictly pvp characters, so although the XML isn't updating, you should still see mostly pvp builds.

The drops are random, but player consensus generally follows your perspective on the subject.

It is easiest if yo go pure strength to your stats when you level up and get endurance and agil along with some more strength from your armor.

You need to survive in PVE about 1 point of agility for about every 2 points of strength for awhile. This goes down though as your skills. Like mad melee mastery take up the attack rating. Endurance you need just enough that you are happy with how fast you are killing without getting killed. It is easiest to expirement with agility and endurance through equipment though . So that you don't need to respec every time you mess up.

Then again whatever style of play that is easiest for you is the best for you.

Just FYI, the last patch fixed a bug that made it easier for lower level pvp 'twinks' to hit higher level players, in other words, you might be needing more agility now.

Although the only decent twink class was ranger...everything else sucked.
