Just Be Aware...
vB post 138255 - 09/13/08 11:30 PM

This is primarily for Stephen & the Dev Team to investigate, but everyone should be aware of it as well:

I was informed today by another player that a player by the name of "pieceofcake" and his other character "chicostick" were sending people tells asking them for their login info.

I would think that no one would be so stupid as to give anyone their account information, but we all know that assumption would be so horribly wrong in the first place, so just a heads-up to everyone:

DO NOT GIVE YOUR ACCOUNT/LOGIN INFORMATION TO ANYONE!!!!!
DO NOT LICK BURNING DOGS!!!!!

Disregard either (or both) at your own risk.

First... you might want to edit this. Even if absolutely true, you can't call out players publicly. In this case, it's pretty obvious why that's the rule -- second hand information is definitely not irrefutable evidence. You should PM Stephen with the names, and let them investigate it.

Second... I'll lick burning dog if I damn well please. Goll! You're just jealous 'cause I got mad dog licking skills.

If you see someone trying to scam a player of their login info, just screenshot and send it to Support.

Giving out names on the forum like this is against the forum rules.

Where exactly are these 'rules'?

Not disputing the validity of either of your posts (yet), but I'd like to actually read 'em.

Link please?

I think a terms of use or code of conduct should be posted somewhere.I've seen some profane toon names so I guess theres no rules people can see.

It appears they didn't survive the platform jump. Here's where Crickette refers to them in a link, but her Forum Rules link is now a deadend: http://boards.dungeonrunners.com/sho...ighlight=rules

Hopefully one of the Devs will catch this and confirm, or repost the rules.

It's also in the game EULA as "character assassination". Essentially, this means you're not allowed to "call out" anybody, since it's basically your word against theirs. If you have a legitimate complaint, then the appropriate course of action is to file a report against the other party. Here's a link with directions:

While we're on the subject of warnings, here are two other things happening recently:

1) Players offering RB Sally group slots for the price of one RB, paid up front. It should be obvious to most people that this is an easy way to get scammed, but players still do it and they still get scammed. This has been going on a while, btw. Cthulhu brought this up on the boards in June.

2) Players offering to PL low levels for the price of one RB, paid up front. It should be obvious to most people that this is an easy way to get scammed, but players still do it and they still get scammed.

Please note that some of the players offering these services might be legit, but why take that risk? There's a high probability of being scammed. About a week ago, in W1, I said as much in chat whenever these offers came up (and they were being spammed pretty constantly). As a result, I was accused by those making the offers of being a troll and was harassed in chat, which means I must have been hitting pretty close to home. At minimum, I was interrupting their slimy little gig.

Please note, neither of these examples are against the EULA as long as the offers are legit. They're pretty pretty scuzzy, though, IMO. That being said, per Stephen:

A trade scam was on the test server too. So be careful when trading. If it seems iffy quit the deal. Had to do with taking advantage of the way the game was programmed.

Send a PM to Stephen about the scam and who was doing it.
