Just got this story from VE3D.com

Following job cuts and restructuring, NCSoft has revealed that Tabula Rasa is unlikely to be axed, at this time, though they are stepping back from casual fare such as Dungeon Runners:

"This transition is really about ratifying a completely dedicated business to the triple-A titles," Reid said. "We would consider ourselves in the class of five-ish companies in the world that can be successful in this market. We are a leader here and we are doubling down in those efforts."
In so doing, NCsoft plans to shed some of their lighter fare, including "moving away from" Dungeon Runners, Reid said. He declined to say if that meant killing the free-to-play, humorous online game, saying only that there were no announcements about the game at this point.

Well I've seen other things to that effect...
My take is that they won't (or can't) close it for at least a few months, and if they we're going to they would start by pulling the boxed copies of the game.
If they closed Dungeon Runners after so many people had bought 6 month memberships I'm sure there would be lawsuits.

About a week ago, I opined in /w that the best thing that could happen to DR is for NCSoft to sell the IP to another company/investor who's actually willing to put some money into it. DR 2.0, with a bigger budget and the same crazy staff committed to putting out something different than all the other games on the market.

Guess there was something to be said for power leveling after all... looks like playing the game the way it was intended will not get me to lvl 100 in time to enjoy it before the end...

No offense, but I would hold off on the drinking until we hear official word from NCSoft As in, the annoucements that aren't yet.

Yeah, don't cry to soon. Much can happen. Before any action is taking place, shouldn't they remove the boxes from the stores at least months earlier? Just think of how all those stores would never trust any NCsoft games again if they were to remove this game and all players asked for a refund from the store.

I really doubt DRs will just fade into the sunset but if that should happen I'll be at Steve's front door waving a blank hard drive yelling "I WANT MY DATA DAMNIT!!!".

Jokes aside, I wonder if there would be a way to download all your character and item data for your account(s) so if the game ever did re-open you could just upload the data back to the game server.

What I find disturbing (other than the possibility of NCSoft dropping DR) is that this story broke 2 days ago, but hasn't been picked up on any of the big gaming sites like mmorpg.com or massively.com.

Was gonna say, it had better not be. This has become my 'home' after Hellgate: London went belly up (it's still operating, but I don't see it lasting much longer).

Glad to see TR is surviving for a while longer. It's a fun game, just not worth my $15/month.
