Passive Skill Slots
vB post 137753 - 09/11/08 06:29 PM

I think it would be a great benefit if there were passive skill slots in your inventory page right where your armor is that way they wouldnt take up space in your skill tray since you cant actively use them anyway, and have a seperate spot for your gnome skill. most games have 1-5 skill trays anyway which i think is overkill, but just being able to open up the slots that we currently use for passive skills would be a tremendous help, thanks

Been suggested-to-death, really. Personally, I see no reason to separate Passive and Active Skill Slots. Worried that too many Passives are filling your Skill Tray? You should be, that's how it is meant to work. You need to find a balance between what skills you really need and what skills you fancy. It's a bit of strategy, and gives the game a bit more diversity (ironically, by limiting the diversity of skills a player can have).

It is so different from class and players how many active or passive skills they use so it would be impossible to put slots for only passives.

While having more slots would be helpful to give players more quick spell options, I kind of like the fact that you have to actually PLAN what spells you are going to use, and memorize them (put them in your hotkey bars) before you use them.

Really reminds me of the old paper D&D games where your little first level mage had 1 freakin' spell (magic missiles), that he could cast a whopping ONE time a day (or something like that).

More hotkey'd skills/spells only = less player skill involved.

Then again, I got it pretty basic with BSOD, Pyromania & Crispy Critters...

Don't you mean "BSoL" instead of "BSoD"?

Anyways, I agree. More slots = less strategy and diversity in the player base. Extra spellslots should only be necessary if we have like, 5x the skills we have now, and maybe not even then. In fact, I'd rather there be 5x more skills and no change the available spellslots, so we can see a larger variety of player builds instead of the same boring few. People who like to carry their entire spellbook with them and unleash ridiculously long combos of fifteen dozen spells every other second can kiss my... well, yeah.
