Cannot access website or game server
vB post 137597 - 09/11/08 01:21 AM

Right now I am having to post this with the use of a tor proxy. for some reason my computer cannot connect to dungeonrunners.com, boards.dungeonrunners.com, or the actual dungeon runners servers. Its as though my IP is banned? I checked the status on my accounts and all of them are active and playable. Also, I can access ncsoft.com, but attempting to click on the games link does not work, page just times out.

Any help is appreciated.

I can however still access the PTS server.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

wtfbbq -- still cannot connect to the boards, the game, anything at all. Any devs able to explain why I am unable to connect to anything other than the PTS?

I'm having similar issues. ...
vB post 137715 - 09/11/08 02:43 PM

I'm having similar issues. They started yesterday. I was able to login, get my characters up, but then suddenly, my characters would freeze up completely. Camera still works, I can click on things, but nothing happens. Exited game, tried re-entering. It said that my connection was either down, my firewall was up, or they were having server issues.

Oddly, I had problems logging into City of Heroes yesterday as well. It couldn't find the game client server on several attempts to login.

It's really frustrating :/

For the last couple days I...
vB post 137721 - 09/11/08 03:22 PM

For the last couple days I have had a problem that may be related to this, not sure. I can access the forums just fine, but the launcher won't work at all. I just keep getting:

"PlayNC Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

I don't know exactly when the problem occurred as I haven't tried to play in over a week. I have been playing the game without any troubles at all for at least a year, but this is a new one for me.

I have no firewall running, no anti-virus, no blocked ports and it just won't launch.

Im not getting application...
vB post 137723 - 09/11/08 03:56 PM

Im not getting application error messages at all -- just network errors saying it can't connect. Any Devs able to comment on this? And with that being said -- looking at my tracert info I posted, is that a NCSoft server where the connection is dropping off, or is that a problem at another node before reaching the NCSoft servers?

Our operations group did some maintenance yesterday. Clearly a problem has been caused. We're trying to get this resolved as soon as possible.

Glad I'm not the only one. Haven't been able to log on to the game or forum for the past 24 hours. I'm just now able to log on to the forum so maybe it's working now.

Thanks for the reply Stephen, appreciate it as always!

Having to play the game through an anonymous tor proxy along with proxy firewall makes the lag even worse than usual lol

While we are on the topic -- why is it that the paid member server always lags so much more than the free servers?

Boots and can't reaccess game...
vB post 137815 - 09/12/08 12:19 AM

Happened frequently yesterday, last night and today... not only with the game, but trying to access dungeonrunners website, and this bulletien board. At times you could access this board, then all the sudden no... and it would be unaccessable for maybe half an hour or so... likewise I could play for about 5 to 10 minutes, then I would get booted and could not get back into the game for 20 to 30 minutes.

The thing is, while this was going on, I could access EVERY other website I would try and could access other gaming sites, while I could not access this website or Forum.
So I have a hard time buying the idea that it is totally router problem.
Also, before Wednesday, I would almost never ever crash. Then all the sudden, All day and night Wednesday and Thursday... bam!

Computer info for developers:
Using Windows Vista Home Premium, Direct X10, paid account with gnome, Micro Velocity Computer, Intel core 2 duo cpu, ATI Radeon HD 3850, 3 GB RAM, not sure how much more info is helpful at this point... but if i can log on and stay logged on enough to give info, I'll sure help if I can.

Same exact problem here. I'll be lucky if this post goes through. I was able to log on to the game for about 3 minutes and asked if other ppl were having problems and most said no. Wondering if maybe only US players are having this trouble. Hope it gets fixed soon. Almost 2 full days without DR so far

Sent in a support ticket by...
vB post 137837 - 09/12/08 02:53 AM

Sent in a support ticket by simply emailing support@ncsoft.com.

Cannot access or have hiccuping/limited access of 5 minutes or less to:

-cityofheroes.com
-dungeonrunners.com
-plaync.com
-guildwars.com

Cannot login to:

- City Heroes
- Dungeon Runners

I gave all information I could possibly give, and maybe that'll help. As far as companies with problems, add Charter to the problematic list. Hopefully this will post, and after I post, if the bug/problem acts as it usually does, I won't be able to access this forum for another several hours. :/

Thanks for all the hard work Stephen.

Since they ignored my thread but answering this one:

Ok 2 days no DR fix it plz!!!

And I think we deserve some KC or something for going days without being able to play. I remember a server issue that wiped out days of info on your chars (lvling, items, ect). Can't you just undo whatever you did??

Looks like this problem was actually on our side. lol

Our network operations group is reporting that it may be fixed for most folks. Let me know if you're still having problems.

Let me be clear, this is a network operations issue. The Dungeon Runners development team has pretty much zero control over it. Some maintenance was done somewhere in our network and it caused some problems. I raised the issue to them as soon as I became aware of it.

Sorry for the problems.

I couldn't do anything LM (Hi by the way :-) that means no support tickets because I had no access to the web sites as well as the game. I was only able to get on here briefly through a trick my brother told me.

Charter is my internet provider here as well -- for all of those having problems connecting, one thing you can do to greatly help out is this:

click on your windows start button, then select run, and in the run window type in cmd -- this will launch your command prompt in windows.

From there, type the following line exactly:

tracert dungeonrunners.com > C:\trace.txt

this will do a trace like the one I listed up above, and put the results in a file in your C:\ drive called trace.txt -- open up that file and copy/paste the entire contents in here. This will allow the devs to see exactly where your connection is failing -- in my case it appears to go through charter, hop to qwest, go through 1-2 nodes of qwest, and then be denied by the next qwest node.

If everyone who is experiencing issues would post this, it would be great.

Is anyone here brave enough to contact their ISP and see what they can find out? I'm not getting much when talking directly to Qwest. They're telling me to have customers contact their ISP. I'll get on the phone to Charter and see what's up.

I'm now with Qwest, but if I have problems connecting tonight or over the weekend, I'll call my ISP anyway and see what's up. I pay them for the ability to connect to servers all over the world, they should at the very least be able to tell me why I can't, right?

Still having problems today as well...
Someone here will have to explain to me, why my ISP would be the problem, when I have problems with this game only, and the www.dungeonrunners.com website and the NCSoft links that are provided, only these, and have no other problems accessing other games or internet websites.

I can pretty much guess what they will tell me if I call and ask them these things, they will say that it's clearly a problem with that company and it's game, and won't even look into it.

Over-simplified:
ISPs have their own ISPs, that is, they have companies who provide them with pathways, hubs, the whole deal. Qwest does not itself maintain the servers that your connection bounces past on its way to the DR servers. Often, several ISPs share pathways, just as end users share an ISP.

The Internet Health Report I linked to earlier shows the latency and status of some of the most commonly used pathways, if you're interested.

The reason you want to do a tracert is because it traces which path your signal takes on its way to the game servers. If your signal drops while on its way past a Qwest server, for example, and does so every single time, the problem is on their end and not on yours. You had no difficulty connecting to the other servers on the way after all.

Makes sense?

(Oh, anyone out there who is actually an expert on these things, please correct me if I made any glaring mistakes. )

Still not working. Seems to be an NCSoft issue. While I can get to the basic ncsoft.com page, none of the links work on that page, nor does the plaync.com page work.

I did the trace thing but couldn't get it to save to text, but here is where it failed.

at1-c00-pos-1-34-1.OC48-ash-c00-pos-1-14-1.wvfiber.net [66.216.1.17]

I bet if NCSoft fixed the problem with their homepage, it would fix the rest. Maybe we should all send ncsoft emails.

(lol, if only their "contact us" page would work, I can't even get on with a proxy )

I have Earthlink DSL if that can help. Earthlink gets the DSL from Quest. I can't get any info out of Quest because I'm not a customer and Earthlink is almost worthless when I have a problem.

I can sign on DR and in a few minutes it will log me off and I can't sign in DR or this forum for maybe 1-2 hours. After a couple hours it will let sign in but it will do the same then again. This has at least been happening for over 2 days. I haven't tried playing DR for a while so I'm really not sure how long this has been happening.

I also play WoW and haven't had any problems playing or going to any other nornal sites except DR and DR's forum.

I forgot one more thing. Yesterday once I was logged off DR and couldn't log back in I tried logging into Guild Wars and it also wouldn't work. I will tried Guild Wars again when I get kicked out of DR just to make sure.

This definitely seems to be an issue between our network and Qwest. I tried talking to Charter and they were quite useless. They're not seeing any issues and are telling me to tell their customers to call them for help.

The inability for us to get any useful feedback from your providers is getting pretty old.

I'll keep poking from this end. I sure hope it gets resolved soon. Anyone feel like praying?

Both yesterday and just a few minutes ago, I was completely unable to access any of the PlayNC websites. I tried the boards, dungeonrunners.com, exteel.com and even the embedded site in the launcher. Here's the error from the launcher:

Both yesterday and today, I was able to successfully launch the sites after waiting a few minutes. It would appear, however, that you still have some network issues.
