I recently was offered to adopt an old laptop, a Compaq nc4010. It has an ATI graphics adapter, but a comparatively good one, so once everything was reinstalled and reconfigured, I decided to try running DR on it. Just to see if it would work.

Install went fine, and so did updating, but when starting the game I got the infamous message about adding Pipeline = VFPF to user.cfg. Knowing that this is a known issue with older ATI graphics cards, I navigated to the proper folder (NCSoft > Dungeon Runners > config), with the intention of editing the file, but user.cfg is not there. I have default.cfg, DungeonRunners.cfg and resourcemanager.cfg, but not the one I need to edit.

I have done far too much PC gaming to even consider simply copy-pasting the edit into one of those three files.

How do I get a user.cfg to edit? Can I just create it in notepad, or do I need to reinstall the game?

Never mind. Reinstalling the display drivers seems to have fixed it.

I am in Townston! On the barest minimum of graphics settings, but I am in Townston now. I am happy.

How many minutes does it take to go, for say, from the Obelisk to Audrey? Hehe!

user.cfg is made the first time you log in on a character btw.

It varies, depending on how much litter there is on the ground between the two

So if I had not managed to log in with a character after reinstalling the display drivers I'd have had a bit of a problem... good to know though.

There was a really old thread about this a long time back.
C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Dungeon Runners\config\User.cfg

make a text file.
in the text file put:
[Display]
Pipeline = VFPF

then save the text file and play.
If i remember right that is how they solved the problem.
