Lucky Wolfs Paw
vB post 136571 - 09/02/08 07:43 PM

I got Dungeon Runners a few days ago, fired it up, created a character and-

I'm stumped at the third or fourth mission. Billy Ray, in the help queue, wants me to go into Dew Valley Forest and kill wolves until I get a lucky wolfs paw for him. So I go into Dew Valley and hunt down the wolves (the big ones, not the pups.. though I kill plenty of those, too).

At this point I'm nearly level 6 and I've respawned the map dozens of times. I get 2-4 wolves per respawn (two by the overturned cart, two by the two chests). I have yet to see a lucky wolfs paw though. What am I doing wrong?

Don't worry. You haven't done anything wrong, just a little unlucky so far. Just kill a few more of the wolves and hopefully one will drop it.

I'd suggest resetting your dungeons, then going through it <gasp> yet another time, killing wolves (not the pups) till you get one to drop. Random drops can be a pain sometimes, especially when you outgrow a particular zone. Either that, or just say 'heck with it' and abandon the quest and move on. You're not going to miss out on anything later on in the game by bypassing that quest.

Unless it is a part of a chain of quests. In that case you will miss the latter missions.

Lucky Wolf's Paw

The Lucky Wolf's Paw quest is indeed part of the very important NEWCOMERS Quest Line. You should finish it. The Paw will drop randomly, but usually one run through the dungeon is enough. You may have better luck on the lower levels of Dew Valley Forest. Be sure you hit ALT to toggle the item labels. Quest items have a distinctive teal blue label.

The Dew Valley Quests have been recently updated at TheTownstons Wiki and most of them are in there now. http://www.thetownstons.com

You might try setting the difficulty to "Insane" to boost drops.
