Abby solo @ insane , around what lvl its worth it?
vB post 136521 - 09/02/08 07:57 AM

So far i almost strictly lvled on bossfights at insane , but now i reached abbadon and there it gets a bit harder normal is doable but burn thru pots very fast

My char = http://threeplanetssoftware.com/soft...racter=hotspot

I know i have a bit of a mix build using amethyst and zirconium stuff for higher end /def since i mostly solo stuff

Im kinda afraid my survivability wil get to low to stay alive vs it(if i go for more dmg) , but at the same time i wanna continue killing bosses at insane

Its prolly better to do at lower difficulty lvl but i like to see nice items also :P

Anyway what are the chances for a lvl 55 ranger getting to kill abby on insane? What to improve on my build?

Suggestions welcome ty

In my experience, solo insane...
vB post 136541 - 09/02/08 04:02 PM

In my experience, solo insane abby is never really profitable. Some keys to Abby are:

high endurance
high DPS
high resist (if you can't kill him before he does his AoE)
melee reflect

it's good to pack as many of these into one build as possible, but that's not easy to do. I sometimes solo on formidable, but the pay-off sometimes seems to be no better than normal. On insane, you'll probably be drinking so many pots and refilling your stock after runs, that you won't do much more than break even.

Activate fire resist. That helps, especially when he starts his AoE thing. I find that thickheadedness is okay.
Try to use monster bait to push away the healer and keep her busy.

If your lvl 50+ the teleport spell is helpful for getting out of the way of his rain of fire spell.
as farming goes it's best to group for Abby or just do another boss (like Balzack) solo.

That's only true until Chunk 4 goes live. Then Abby will cap at level 90.

In a way im kinda glad i've been farming abby for like a year on and off and I can't tell you how much it has turned me off at times.

Heh, this topic reminds me of the days that rangers where by far, superior to both fighters and mages, their dps was insane and abby was far weaker. A good ranger way back used to be able to solo insane abby in about 30secs. It was ridiculous now that I think about it.
