Dungeon Runners Voice Chat!!!
vB post 136409 - 08/31/08 09:47 PM

Hey everyone DoctorNoob here with another idea developing, I think I may be posting this in the wrong area but this "general discussion" so I didn't know where else to put this. Anyway's as we all know when we're doing a PvP gorup area with a party or doing Sissirat group raids on insane we all wanna to tell people where to go and make things more startegic while attacking at the same time. The game does indeed have voice chat but it unfortunately is kinda crackily and is very hard to here someone speaking through it. So then we have to type type type and soon enough the mob gang banged you, and your dead, NOW everyone is yelling at you why you weren't back in the game as fast as you should've been well... this might help things out.

For those who have PC's, XP, Vista, 2008, all that jazz I've got some good news for you... and for those who have Macs, well you're going to have to sit this one out for a little while.

I have created [ and still am ] a voice chat server for GSC... one will be for World Wide users, whether to have 2 for USA and EU will be considered later.. the server will have multiple channels that are labeled and I am still creating more. The voice chat quality is excellent depending on your microphone. Now I have created steps for you guys to get on the voice server pronto!

1. Download GSC here - http://getgsc.com/gsc/downloads/

2. Create an account - very simple to do.

3. Go to your voice tab section once you've logged into your account.

4. Click on ADD which should be in the GSC window near a "+" sign

5. Click on search - the criteria for searching is "owner" and search up axeman1.

6. You should see a "Dungeon Runners [WorldWide] Server click to join it and voila! There you have it!

I hope you guys enjoy the server I am still going to adding rooms and for posse's out there. The leaders of the posse's may get their VERY own private chatroom with a password and the leaders wil of oucrse have admin abilities over thier channel!

Enjoy, I am still taking suggestions what on what I should add to it so feel free to speak out ' cause I wanna hear the feedback. Oh BTW I am looking for some VERY responsible server admins as well...

Nice initiative. I usually just use the in-game voice chat every now and then but I'm sure here's several people who'll go for this.

Cool.

It will be interesting how many people go for this now that posses are in the making. Ventrilo and Teamspeak are the reigning popular voice-chat clients, but i'm sure they'll give this a go with a free server ready for them!

Indeed it is ready right now... I will continue to add more rooms/channels (Particulary the Raids channels).

I understand there probably wont be too many people on the voice chat server because of people not having a mic but it is 200 slot server so I am very prepared.

Server ID is 44853 btw, if you're trying to figure out how to make the custom banner with the server's info on it.

I set up an account/logged in to the QSC Dungeon Runners server as "LordGoshAlmighty" (my primary toon). Very clean interface, with nice graphic appeal (and several skins to choose from).

It's got a nice beat, and you can dance to it...I'll give it an 85.

How is GSC different than X-fire, which already exists? Having a dedicated DR voice chat server is nice, but it seems more like your promoting your product than you are doing anything for the game.

I think you might be assuming a bit more than he's saying, Ripper... He SET UP a chat server to help people connect. He's not the programmer (at least that's what I get from his post, as well as visiting (and joining) the GSC thing.), and I don't see him promoting any product--his--or someone else's--it seems he's trying to help people get connected in a way that supports the game, and since it's free, and relatively unknown, it's more likely to have less congestion and garbling of sound than the more well-known chat servers

Then again, what do I know? I'ma go eat me a Tribble. Yeaaaah, BOYEEEEE!

Going to have to agree with Klingon about this one. Seems he is just trying to get the people of Dungeon runners connected more then the 3-4 man party in the instaced dungeon or the person running solo because they are bored or don't have any online to hang out with right now.

Just seems to be trying to do the community a friendly service and offer up good way for everyone to get connected without all the normal hassle of trying to set up and pay for a server.

If that's the case, I apologize. For some reason I had the distinct impression that he was one of GSC developers..

Um. So. Router port numbers would be good. Google was less than helpful

EDIT:
Never mind. GSC forum search worked. Here are the router ports, in case anyone else wants or needs them:

GSC has 3 applications associated with it

1. GSLaunch.exe - The GSC Update checker and downloader.
this application typically uses ports 80 and 443.
2. GSCopier.exe - the GSC Update installer
this application does not use internet connectivity
3. GSClient.exe - what you see is GSC.
this application uses the following ports 80, 443, 1000, and 15668

I just clicken on the install thingy and it loaded everything for me just fine.
Kinda nice when it does that, cause I'm illiterate when it comes to all that technobabble.

Nope I'm not a GSC developer or a programmer. If I have any skill in programming by creating any applications it's just those lill YouTuibe video that shows you how to make a batch file to crash and restart your computer which I still have no idea why I learned...

Yes I am just trying to help the DR community out... thanks Klingon for getting the point out

Very nice initiative
I am myself one of the GSC regular users/betas and I love GSC.
