What's your favorite Pizza-toppings?
vB post 135971 - 08/29/08 12:02 PM

What's your favorite Pizza-toppings? I'm sure it's different from the US and European ones since American pizza's usually are really thick and usually never comes with any lettuce of any kinda. Gonna be fun to see how different something as common as the pizza is around the world.
You don't need to include tomatosauce and cheese when telling.

As a European I like the thinner kind of pizza. If I wanna fatten up my favorite toppings includes beef-fillet, shrimp, tomatoes, asparagus and Bearnaise-sauce. Then a small salad on top of it all (after it's been baked).

But usually I go for something like chicken, fresh field mushrooms, some sliced banana, a touch of curry and Bearnaise-sauce.

I like the thinner kind of pizza because it is less filling, so I can eat more.

Favourite toppings are, in no particular order: green peppers, chicken, onion, small bits of mushroom, aubergine (known as egg plant here in the US), and a dash of fresh ground black pepper over it all.

Well, I'm American (from the State of Michigan--the one that looks like a mitten), and my absolute favorite pizza contains:

Double Pepperoni
Onions
Jalapeno Peppers
Extra Cheese

Stuffed Crust Pizza (where they imbed cheeze inside the outer rim of the pizza) just adds to the cheezy deliciousness...

Mmmmmm, Pizza Perfection!

lol, I could never keep something like that down. WAY to much fat for me. No wonder USA and Alaska have the highest BMI in the world. (Source: WHO)

I like a variety of pizza toppings, but one of my favorite combination of ingredients is:

Pepperoni,
Black Olive,
Pineapple,
Jalapeno,
Side of ranch dressing to dip it in

I also love a pizza with:

Olive Oil,
Spinach,
Roasted Tomatoes,
Feta Cheese crumbled on top

Personally, I prefer a thinner, chewier crust a la New York style or a hand-made artisanal crust. I've been lucky enough to have pizza at Pizzeria Bianco, which has won awards for being the best pizza in America. The owner also operates a sandwich shop, called Pane Bianco, which is excellent. Both locations have huge, wood-burning ovens and all breads and crusts are hand baked and incredible.

Just wanted to add my giggle at the above first

As for too much fattiness, my family usually only gets pizza twice or so a month. I enjoy pan pizza, light sauce (not big on it), tons of mushrooms and ham.

I did make a pizza at home this month that I (my family was not big on it) made with ready made crust, mushroom Alfredo sauce, spinach and lots of Mooooozzarella! Yummy

I find it ironic that this thread popped up today, as my family and I are meeting up with another family and going to eat a pizza parlor called the "Mellow Mushroom." We've never been, but I have heard good reviews and I checked out the menu...things look tasty.

Hahaha, I know, but since it's a bit off I thought they were used to a bit different food. That's why I mentioned them by the side like that.

Now THAT I could live with. Sounds delicious.

Hehe, well I usually make my own and I have almost no butter at all in it, and for one pizza you only need to use 1 yolk.

For those of you talking in regards to fat, this is america's problem. Everything has bacon and cheese on it. Usually a fair amount of both. Look any general listing for common eateries in the USA. Those items are on the top of the menu. Anyway I digress.

Pepperoni
Fresh Mushrooms
Olives
Garlic white sauce instead of tomato
Onions
Jalapeno / Alternate Spicy peppers

Thanks! It turned out really well. The hubby and daughter got a pizza to share and loved it. They had sandwiches (grinders, hoagies, subs, whatever you choose to call them) there and I'm a sucker for a good turkey sammich; which it was btw, just good turkey meat, tomatoes, lettuce and provolone cheesy goodness...all toasted. They tried sneaking on some bean sprouts but I just can't bring myself to eat them on a sandwich, so they made a lovely garnish on my plate instead.

We topped the evening off with some great fruit smoothies.

I eat pizza three or four times a week at least. I live from predominatly "junk" food. Any kind of pizza is great, however I do not like some topping: Mushrooms, anchovies, bannane peppers, olives and the like. Sometimes I like to add M&Ms, marshmellows or chocolate icecream to my pizza. *nummy*

As for the fat comments, I am an exception. 30 years old, 6'2", 170 lbs.

M&Ms, marshmallows or chocolate ice cream on your pizza! I'm at a loss for words.... However, minus the pizza, that's a pretty damn good sundae.

Hehe, can't be TOO healthy.

I started this topic as we were to order home something to eat as we were going to watch a movie and I couldn't decide. I went with Quatro Stagioni, the Four Seasons. It has mushroom, ham, clams and shrimps divided in four parts of the pizza, topped with a artichoke in the middle. A classic.

/Hits Necromatix over head with pizza and steals his excellent metabolism.

I am so jealous. I have gone for months at a time eating right and healthy and never lost a pound. Yet all theses thin people can eat like I would love to and never gain a pound.

Glad to hear you can keep such and excellent weight though.

You're just lucky I'm too fat and lazy to come over there, or I'd introduce you to a large carabou sausage (great on pizza, btw) in a way that would have you begging for death.

Plus, take a look at our Governor -- soon to be Veep: Not just perfect BMI (even though she just had a baby), she'll be the hottest Veep ever (even though Rip would argue that honor goes to Cheney).

Most of my friends are jealous too, since i eat junk food almost as much as Nacromatix (please note *almost*), and no1 gets why am i not well... fat is not enough...
Im maby even underweight. Been suspecting you know... worms a lot of times, and were always wrong. Good metabolisam, and some exercise here and there always works (in my case, thats metabolisam, workout is siriously "here and there")

Although it can be fun on some celebration lunch and such, when they all stop eating, keeping they're line. The faces are priceless when they see me still eating.. and eating...and then looking at the thin me
Please not that theese faces are not like: "look at this pig", more like "BUT HOW???"

I must say I agree with him, although more meat than just bacon and all assortment of cheeses are needed for the perfect pizza.
