This was my favorite for a long time, even though i stopped playing I still keep in contact with many from here. This game has gotten worse and really really bad from when I started.

The community or lack of is worse, the constant tells now for PLing is out of control, the pvp system is just well FLAWED, the balance sucks, Chill bill sucks, and i can go on and on.

Anson, Stephen you all arent doing your job well as maybe with the retail box you are making more money but the game sure is going to crap. 98% of the people i use to play with are now gone, besides the few that pvp.

KK that is it for the rant, but if you look at the 100 list you will notice 95% of them dont play anymore and i wonder the hell why??? Simple.....there is nothing else to do

Based on his comments about Crickette in another thread, I doubt he cares.

I dunno... I'm an admitted ass, but even I'm not so socially and intellectually retarded as to express that level of self-absorbed, callous dilholery. Difficult to bother reading what he has to say about anything else, much less give it thought. He might want to backtrack a bit. But I'm not sure he's capable of it.

I don't normally get confrontational but WTF is this Drivel?? Man, are you SO selfish that you haven't pulled your head outta your @$$ long enough to look around recently and see that the DR Dev Team has recently been cut by 2/3 and that those who are left are working on a major new content release to address many of the whiny points you tried to make??

Next time, think before you speak because had you bothered to read up on current events instead of coming here, guns blazing and unload both barrels on Stephen, accusing him of not being attentive to the game, you'd have realized that maybe you'd gone overboard and shut yer yap.....or not.

This game, despite what you may think otherwise will prevail. While no one REALLY knows what the future will bring, until Stephen says the game is dead and the servers are shut down and the forums are shuttered, we will all continue doing what we love and what you like not so much..

As a games grows, the more power-leveling requests there will be. I like this game, thus I never PvP. That's where everything goes wrong here.

This is a fast-paced game where the highest level is reached kinda fast. These games tend to have a really changing player-base. Old players leave and new arrives kinda fast. Also, people change Worlds and characters so you old friends might very well be on still, but you didn't know who they were. Also, since it's been a year or so, people just might have gotten themselves a life and just don't have time to play so much any longer.

Now jump back in there, put a smile on your face and get yourself some new friends!

*laughs* Hm.... Let me think... Allowing China to host the Olympics made me mad 'cause of how they break all Human Rights rules with Tibet. And all unnecessary wars *glares at Bush waving "no no, bad boy" with his index finger*, intolerance (racism in all it's forms) gets to me too... But apart from that I'm usually a pretty tolerant guy. I don't care if a noob nags at me over and over and over (got 7 younger sibblings, I'm used to it). I don't care if someone is backtalking me because I know they're wrong in whatever they might say. But don't touch my beers or I'll haunt you forever! Hehe!

I agree that the power leveling tells are getting out of hand, same with the random invites popping up all the time. (If you disagree with this, then you are no where near level 100 yet :-P )

Few suggestions:
1)Busy - Currently we have a way to set busy, which prevents everyone from messaging you in game. I think this should be adjusted, or at least expanded upon -- Myself, and most other 100s I know, set busy solely for the purpose of keeping noobs from spamming them for power leveling, free RBs, etc. I think Busy should prevent anyone who is more than 5 levels lower than you from being able to message you, while still allowing anyone your level range or higher to communicate with you. This simple change would drastically reduce the spam from little nooblets.

2)Friend Invites - Currently our only options for friend invites is "everyone, or only friends" - I think there should be a third option added "only people in my level range". This change would allow people to readily accept invites from friends, as well as other random dungeon runners their own level, while preventing noobs from spamming you with group invites (Which I might add is EXTREMELY DAMN ANNOYING, when a noob invites you 10 times in a row, never sends you a message, never asks to party, just throws random invites to everyone higher level than them hoping someone will accept and help them /rant)

3)Trading - Currently with trading, people can open a trade with you at basically any time unless you have specifically added them to your ignore list. It gets extremely annoying having noobs open random trade windows all the time and then saying "free", or opening trade windows and popping in some rbs and begging you to trade them. I think the trade system should be changed so that you can only initiate a trade with someone your level, or lower. As it stands, if 2 people agree to make a trade, it is not difficult for the higher level to open the trade request. This would prevent all the random trade crap that is getting worse and worse (this easily happens at least 5-10 times a day).

4)Chat Channels - Please God, PLEASE add a new chat channel for level 75+. There is so much crap that gets spammed non stop in noob, world, and market channels. I find myself frequently /leaving each of the channels just to ignore all the crap being spammed so I can talk with my group, friends, etc. A level 75+ chat channel would filter out most of the junk for those that have reached the higher levels.

I personally feel these 4 changes would drastically increase my satisfaction with the game, as well as the satisfaction of many other players. The changes would go a LONG way towards retaining the existing player base -- as many of us who reach 100 not only get bored (which we can deal with), but extremely annoyed by all the junk I've listed above (Its the junk that causes a majority of us to move on).

In reply to Sean:

I think what you need to "drastically increase your satisfaction" is a chill pill; It's not hard to ignore chat, certain people, or certain "types" of people, eventhough you cant fully get rid of the box.

If you get worked up over people asking for pl'ing, then set yourself to busy. Every MMO has noobs asking to get PL'ed, DR is turning out to be no diff. It's a part of the game, and certainly part of being level 100, and it's not going to go away. The features we have now are good enough to ignore any PL request and noob, and have everyone else you talk to on Friends List.

If you get worked up over seeing noob and market chat, and even world chat, then /leave it or change Worlds. Take your mind off of the chat if you really don't want to see it. Fight more monsters, turn on some music, etc. There really is no need for those 4 changes just to separate high lvls from low level noobs.

My little gripe, while in the mood:
Separation is what DR needs least; Level 100s should either: A. learn to ignore the powerlevel requests and help out those who genuinely want help learning the game, or B. use the features given and weed out the people that annoy them, and keep contact with those they want to. It's not that hard to ignore someone you truly want to ignore, really.

I think the problem in this game arised with the time-to-100; People are getting to 100 very quickly and without much effort compared to other games, and get easily flustered when people ask them game related questions or ask for PL'ing, or free stuff, etc; Ever hear of Zezima from Runescape? He was the top player for a LONG time, the highest lvl in everything, imagine how that feels in a game with hundreds of millions of players; When you're the highest lvl in a game, there is some assumed consequences (noobs following you around, asking you stupid questions, asking for free stuff, powerleveling, etc). Either assume the maturity to deal with it, or simply ignore it and go on with your game. As for those 4 suggestions, there's no need to fix something that isn't broken.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. As it is though, too many people post their complaints day in and day out, and very few people take any time to suggest improvements. While you don't believe there is anything wrong with the current system, and I'm sure there are alot of others that agree with you, I am just as sure there are alot of people who would love to see these changes made, whether in their entirety, in pieces, or whatever. Unfortunately Dungeon Runners is losing a large # of players due to the current system, and as a "veteran" maybe you can post some suggestions for improvement, instead of riding the ship down to the bottom while it sinks.

vB post 134703 - 08/21/08 09:08 AM

I'm not going to post to the original poster because they seem...lacking in ways.

I do think I've solved the powerleveling problem... powerlevel everyone that asks. How is that going to solve anything? Very easily if you think about it. You power level all the noobs that are asking for it and then they get to 100 only to realize that they aren't having fun, they are bored and it's not like they can farm gold and sell it so they leave. Essentially weeding out those that think level 100 is where it's all at.

To address the channel for 75+ ...the spam and such won't go away, it will still be there because there will be those level 75+ folk who are already spamming noob and market and world that will sadly just have one more channel to spam.

It's kind of funny, I started last night a 10-day pass to World of Warcraft to see what the hype was about and pretty much all the things mentioned in this thread were all present there. People asking for powerleveling, folk using channels for spam and for things not relevant to the specific channel, asking for handouts (gold, items, etc), gold farmers (which DR doesn't have). After that I went to the Warcraft boards and I saw the same things here too! People complaining about this class sucking, or this skill being cheap or that one being too powerful, that hunter pets suck and should be banned in PvP...yada yada.

So all in all, saying that DR is losing player base because of the current system is flawed. Yes, there may be a few that will leave, but that's normal for every game I'd imagine. Heck, the original poster said that they left for a while. Guess what, while they left more folk came to play and probably brought friends like I did (brought 4 so far).

There's an idea...bring friends and get free stuff!!! Like really over-powered stuff that kills bosses that are the most difficult on insane with a full group in a single shot no matter what your level to give people something real to complain about! (yes, massive amounts of sarcasm).

The way to keep the existing player base is to make it as easy as possible for them to never, ever interact with anyone other than their own clique...?

Set yourself to Busy. That will not let anyone other than your friends PM you, and it will also stop the Trade requests. Accept invites only from friends. The tools are there, and the vast majority of what you complain about will go away if you use those tools. There's no need to segregate the game just because you're too lazy to use what options and tools you've been given.

Oh, and maybe play on a different world if the people in the one you're on aggravate you so much.? Novel thought, I know, but there's more than one server out there and the people that bug will probably not follow you if you move to another one.

+1 to Khaz, really Khaz is right, most of the issues are solved by going busy and setting group to friends only invite. I dont advocate changing worlds though because you've probably have a bunch of friends on that world.

Heh. I didn't even notice that part of the post, but it kind of proves my point. Anyone who has tried the Busy feature knows this. At least if they are also using the Friends List.

Sean, try setting yourself consistently to busy at all times, and you'll notice that a lot of the things that you complain about are going to go away.

I love this game. Every time I come back to it from my (3 or so month) rest periods the game has just gotten better and better.

I have been with the game ever since the week right before it went live. It has done nothing but improve ever since.

I can remember the old days. What was it , 6 hot slots on your bar. Had to pick a class and were stuck with that classes skill and couldn't use the others classes basic skills. Drop Trades. Non-Members could only use up to blues (one of my personal favorites , I always saw it as a challenge not being able to use yellows and up). Only about 1/2 the skills that we have now. No PVP. No Respec. Do I need to go on. The game has done nothing but Improve.

I do imagine that one day , in hopefully the far flung future , this game will go the way of the Dodo. When it does I just hope they release a single player version. So I can continue to enjoy all the Great Game I have Enjoyed over the time I have bean playing it.

ok, #2: the game has gotten a lot better, i really cant list a thing that is worse. Oh, Sean try changing your world try changing. PLvling demands and random group invites are arent near as often as in W1 (from what ive heard, i think you are from W1).
3. Devs are working as hard as they can, and ARE doing a great job. If you dont like Chill Bill, dont use him! Noone is making you! The game made excelent progress and is really growing. Nah, he just has his priorities in order.

There's a limit to how much energy and anger a normal human has to spend. Smart and mature human beings direct it to things that it's worth their while to be angry about, where the anger makes a difference. Real world racism instead of online forum morons, for example. Personally, I find it easier to hassle forum morons than expending the time and energy to change the real world, since the latter is difficult, unappreciated, and mentally exhausting. Online rage is easier and more painless, so most people content themselves with that.

DR Goodwill Ambassador is a nice title, btw.

I have only returned to this game a few hours before writing this post. Before I left I was actively giving suggestions to help diversify certain things that I felt were bland and repetative. You talk about riding the sinking ship. We have what.. 5 devs left? And they have to efficiently manage their time to bring us the best updates and changes, and you expect them to take this seriously under consideration, with all this opposition? Go try putting this on IdeaRunners forum and I doubt you will get more than 2 Karl Heads. On the contrary, if players ARE leaving from the same complaints you have, then good riddance. This shows that they cant man up to being level 100 or even learn to use the ignore features that are already in the game. I will say it again, no need to fix something that isn't broken. The chat system isn't broken, you just aren't using it right.

All and all i can say that I've enjoyedthe last 18 months of time I've invested in this game. I miss lots of the freinds I made in game that have moved on and will miss the people that have been let go. But I'll continue on playing as I have and adding to my freinds list.

any way enough babbking I got a few minutes to kill so time to get Steele a step closer to 100......

What are you talking about? Dying? Lolz, who cares? Oftentimes, when we grouped, dungeon running and killing stuff came SECOND because we just usually talked, messed around and joked a lot. Running dungeons was just a side-feature for making comments or teasing someone in a friendly manner. DR is just like that, an internet caffe dungeon running game.

I dont even want to talk about my e-friends i run with.My entire "generation" (thats how i call people who progress trough similar levels together) are some dudes who are in a crazy rush to get as high as possible.
Only 1 of them is interesting to talk to and play with, but i rarely find her. My friend from the old days recently returned, but he's about lvl 30, and is rarely logged at the same time as me...
I almost never soloed before, i remember always hanging in Algors dome on insane, always 5 of us...
Now im forced to solo, and im really not happy about that.

I prefer soloing, I always have. It does get me killed more often, and I gain wealth very slowly since I have to spend nearly two thirds of my loot on health potions, but I still prefer it. Solo-running means that I and I alone control just how much I want to socialize. And since I am fairly anti-social, and primarily use video games and PC games to get away from people, not to make friends, soloing suits me just fine.

That's what I do when I'm standing around at the Amazon or the obelisk...dungeons are for beating up the monsters, townsquare/amazon for socializing :P

lol! Wait a sec, im "climing" back on my chair...
Now then...
Khaz, you should try playing a single player game. No idiots spamming all over your screen and sometimes buying the stuff you want! Oh, and no even bigger idiots asking you for PLvling (You'll see how annoying it is, just you wait!(if you haven't already))

When I play single player games the option to socialize is be completely gone, which lands me in the ditch on the other side of the road.

And Lyllia, thanks for the offer, but I prefer levelling at my own pace. Once I reach 100 I will run out of things to do, so the later I get there, the better,

Hehe If I actually sat down and did the math it would probably come out as way less than two thirds. What is wrong with it right now is that I am experimenting with a large number of equipment combination, and I am too lazy to respec to compensate for the variations in stat bonuses. So it is by and large self-inflicted. Solorunning a boss on Formidable, with 3,000 HP is not the most... cost-effective, way of farming gold.

Abby runs last night on insane with a full group + 16k+ hp + 1 boot to the head = 1 way trip to water the daisies

but it was a total blast with 4 warrior and a mage whalin on abby. generally took him down before my speed buff ran out.

Lolz, you're wacky. You don't usually farm bosses with fragile, athletic girls (unless they're rangers) that wield dual toothpicks.

My alt fighter wins, yay.

Oh, and your skills don't need adjusting (save for Mad Melee Mastery). Just dump it and get more STR/END items. BTW, which boss are you farming? Rotgut? Widowmaker? Algor?

I am a certifiable loony. That is a well known fact.

When I farm bosses I wear my END+ armor, and I have this big dual-wield spear that cleaves really well. My wp compass is in Widowmaker's Lair right now, so cleaving is very useful there. What's on the char viewer right now is me not caring at all about what my toon was doing, and just running at random in Frump's lvl 1 and whacking stuff.

Point taken. Also, little hint. You can actually knock Widowmaker down when you charge into her with Holy Roller. It's a great sight, heh. Done it a lot of times.

Oh yes. Holy Roller with the big cleaver looks really, really, cool when Widowmaker falls over. And drops purple stuff all over the place.

And for the record, that is an awesome avatar. What's it listening to? Be Quick Or Be Dead?

I had so much fun farming Widowmaker with people I liked who are gone now... :'-)

Thanks, but it's just one of many avatars, I'm still searching for the right one, mainly to fit my name, and no, it's not listening to Be Quick Or Be Dead, there are only two bands I actually listen to.

Lets Analyze the first Post for a Second.

This was my favorite for a long time, even though i stopped playing I still keep in contact with many from here. This game has gotten worse and really really bad from when I started.
This person has stopped playing this game

The community or lack of is worse, the constant tells now for PLing is out of control, the pvp system is just well FLAWED, the balance sucks, Chill bill sucks, and i can go on and on.
They are were lonely and couldn't find any friends and didn't know how too

Anson, Stephen you all arent doing your job well as maybe with the retail box you are making more money but the game sure is going to crap. 98% of the people i use to play with are now gone, besides the few that pvp.
What few friends the person had has left

KK that is it for the rant, but if you look at the 100 list you will notice 95% of them dont play anymore and i wonder the hell why??? Simple.....there is nothing else to do
A cry for more 100level content (1 actual suggestion?)

This poor person doesn't need our ridicule. So many people feel the hurt of loneliness. It is most unfortunate they have already quit Dungeon Runners. For now their is no way for us to reach out to them. To include them in are humble friendships.

I just wish this person well , may they one day find what they search for and have a fulfilling life.
