Item Selling Notice for Rainbows
vB post 134327 - 08/18/08 09:38 AM

I accidentally sold two good rainbows about 5 days ago and sold an awesome non-member amour that I was about to trade yesterday. There should be a little box saying "Are you sure you want to sell this?" whenever a rainbow is about to be sold. That way, people won't accidentally sell a rainbow when Speed-Selling and smash their head into the keyboard whenever they do it...

This has been suggested a couple of times. While I've accidentally done the same thing, I don't think a confirmation is necessary. Instead, we should bank items we don't want to sell or just pay attention. I'd rather see newer and more diverse content, personally.

I remember suggesting this.

There has been another suggestion in which you can buy-back your items.

There should be a buy back option for the past few items that you have sold. I have accidentally sold items that I wanted to keep but haven't been able to do anything about it because they are forever gone.

There are three variations on Idea Runners. One, two, and three.

Personally, I agree with those who say it is not necessary. As Ripper said, you can put your items in the bank before selling. Alternatively, use the drag and drop sell method. Most people use shift to sell. That is how mistakes are made. I suppose one needs to choose between speed or accuracy. A confirmation message would be obnoxious. The "no sell box" would probably be forgotten in most cases, or simply used as extra inventory space. A buy back option would most likely take a great deal of coding. I would think there is nothing in place to even track what items are sold, much less a way to get them back.

Not to mention, if this game was completely idiot-proofed in every way, all the fun would go out of it.

I do agree that the confirmation could be annoying to others...but couldn't the ability to turn it off in the options could be implemented?

Since there have been multiple posts on IR(as necro linked), and here on the DR forums, and nothing has been done yet i dont see them changing this in the near future(even though i think it would be a good idea, i just accidently sold a rb yesterday, luckily it was Vis'kar so i probably would have sold it anyway), maybe in a year or so they will but not right now, especially since so many people were let go...

Why? Is it so hard to actually pay attention to what you are doing when you're buying and selling stuff?

Actually, when I'm rapidly clicking on the piled up junk in my inventory with some goodies inbetween them...yes.

Then the lose of a rainbow once in a while is the cost for "shift selling" and not paying attention.

Oh no, not RBs, I'm not THAT absent-minded. Just some yellows and purples with pretty special bonuses.

I've gotten into the habit of putting whatever I might want to keep to the left of my inventory. Also, before I sell anything, I think- did I pick up any rbs or good purps? Then I find them before shift+click...

Seeing as how I have the attention span of...of...what is that noise? it's like a low, beeping sound- oh! yeah,

Anyone can learn this behavior- just be cautious.

I've sold some RB's by mistake myself but it's just to laugh at it, nothing to get hung up by. There's been discussions many times about having a extra warning (Are you REALLY sure you wanna sell this item?) for Rainbows, or by excluding them from the Shift-Click override and I have to admit that it doesn't matter for me. Being more aware of what you're actually doing is part of the game, but removing Rainbows from the Shift-Click override is fine too.

Heh, TBH, Shift+Click selling isn't the issue here, it's the uncautious player.

As others have pointed out, all you have to do is think a bit. Villainz is right, the problems here is not with the game. Standard P.E.B.K.A.C issue.
