Obelisk mis-click
vB post 134185 - 08/17/08 12:02 AM

The obelisk is transluscent as far as clicking is concerned. I'm tired of accidentally clicking on other players and running to them when I'm trying to port.

You got my vote. If the area around the Obelisk is really swamped, it can take a while before I manage to find the Obelisk.

Try clicking the top of the obelisk, I reckon that's better than sniping its lower part among a mob of players condensed around it.

A great addition to this game would be a faster Go Back button. I think a dungeon and the waypoint you have is saved for 15 minutes before it resets. When using a waypoint I would love if a button showed up somewhere by our name who we could just click to go back to that specific waypoint.
But the tricky part is: A waypoint stays so that it can be used several times. With this function it would be better if it went away after using the "Go Back" button.
So the question is: Having Waypoints who stay, or a Go Back button to make our returns faster?

It's often I click people behind the Obelisk, even though my cursor is spot on the Obelisk, so I'm not sure how you manage on every click. You might have the viewpoint angle different from most of us others though.

About the angle...in which one do you normally play? Because if it's isometric or even top-down (which isn't very common), this shouldn't be a problem. Unless your camera is set so you're looking directly at your character's back.

Tilt the camera so you're looking "up" at the obelisk, and click high on it. Never had a problem.

I actually did that after I wrote my reply, the very top of the obelisk is clickable, I've no idea how some people miss it so much...

I keep the same angle I use in dungeon- high at about 40-45 degrees. I guess I could just adjust my camera angle every single time I need to port.

Lolz, you silly alien-ion-whatever-the-heck-you-call-yourself-guy, there's no need for adjusting. All you have to do is move your cursor ABOVE the heads of other players and click 8-D

...with the angle I'm using, there is no "ABOVE the heads."

and it's AlienEighter, it's not complicated.

EDIT: like I said in the above post, "high," meaning far away.

1. Seriously, how close is the camera to your character? Because, with the default camera-angle setup (which is very decent IMO) it's more than possible to click the obelisk above other players' heads.

2. I know...

It sounds as though Alien uses the angle I do. I keep the camera panned out as far as it will go and at about a 45 degree angle. If you approach the obelisk with a player on the far side, it is very easy to click them instead.

Good point. I tend to zoom in the camera a little bit when I am in Townston, and take it down to a flatter angle, since that makes it easier for me to click on Audrey. I keep that angle for obelisk clicking as well, though I always make sure to click high on it, after the first time I accidentally clicked on someone else.

If you already haven't done this, try playing in a top-down view, fully zoomed out. It's totally different and reminds me of some older games, plus the AoEs look great, especially Cleave, when you send them flying all around you.

Same. It's rare to trigger the ob on the first click with the old school camera view. It helps to click it as high up as you can, but a fix would be even better.
