Damn those Banshees!
vB post 133655 - 08/13/08 03:47 PM

I have the banner of foolish bravery in a slot which I understand to raise my resistance to fear. I'm not entirely sure that it does anything but I hate the damn spell so much that I keep it there anyway. I spend most of my time trying to kill those guys first or distract them with turkey leg and chill bill but I was wondering if resistance to their particular element worked as well? I've given up on resistance spells in general as they haven't seemed worth the slot space but boy I'd put one back in if it had any hope of preventing that damn fear spell. Anyone know?

This doesn't directly answer your question, but I never found the banshees to be too disruptive even with their spell. The worst that can happen is you run into another mob of monsters and have to fight two at once. While you can't cast spells when feared, realize that you can still drink potions (this is the part I think people don't know), so you really shouldn't die.

BoFB works, but even at the highest rank it's never 100% possible to block fear. Also, there's some confusion because the icon for the skill is the same as the icon used for the immunity effect once you've actually been feared.

Basically, it works like this:

* If you have BoFB slotted, you have a chance to resist fear.

* If you fail your save against fear, you are feared and you a granted a temporary immunity to further fear. Once that immunity runs out, you're fair game again...

Resists don't help against fear to the best of my knowledge.

Are you sure on this? because I swear there are times when I just stopped running that they hit me again with it...even when the bravery this is on and I'm all sparkly and bigger...

I tested it pretty thoroughly a while back, but that doesn't mean it's not broken now.
