As a general rule, if you are 5 or more levels higher than any equipment you're wearing, ditch it and get a higher one. If you have King's Coins (KCs), buy it from the Fighter KC vendor in Townston. You can also try bumping up the difficulty level in Dew Valley, which will give you more yellow and purple drops that you can then either wear or sell. Especially replace the rings. One thing that I found very helpful was to decide early on, before hitting lvl 10, what kind of fighter I wanted to play, and then distribute attribute points accordingly. It looks like you're evenly distributing points when you gain levels, which works well at first, but seemed to me to make my progress very slow past lvl 12 or so. Fighters need good STR for dealing damage, good AGI so they'll miss less often, and good END so they can take damage as well as dish it out. My approach, which has worked well for me, is to pick two and split your attribute points 3-2 between them, and use equipment bonuses to raise the third. If you look at my base attributes (link in sig), it should be fairly easy to see which one I decided to gimp ![]() I like your skill selections. White Paladins FTW! You actually don't need a lot of help, you seem to be doing pretty well so far. Just upgrade those rings and start looking for a new armor, and go forth and smite the whiskers! -------------------- Khaz: W4 Laker Girl An earthquake's sound, to a girl's guitar, is just another good vibration. |

Thank you, I have only played for almost 5 hours now. Everything I have is drops from insane level Rattletooth. I am hoping to save up money for more skills so that I can be more effective and start chasing that snow chief and such. Thank you again for the help! |

For only 5 hours of play, you're doing good. ![]() If I may suggest, stay on Insane until you have a solid base of gold and loot, that gets your character off to a good start. And boss farming is where the largest amounts of gold and items can be found, so if you keep at Rattletooth, you'll probably run into some equipment upgrades soon enough. Good luck! ![]() -------------------- Khaz: W4 Laker Girl An earthquake's sound, to a girl's guitar, is just another good vibration. |

Everyone's different in technique. Personally, I didn't worry about my items being close to my level until mid-teens in level and even then, their attributes were more important to me than the level of the item. I kept things on normal difficulty and just kept mining it until I was between 7 and 10 and then mined Algernon again at normal level until I was mid-teens in level. Then I started joining insane sissi and sc runs and got plenty of good gear then. I'm also different in that I never spend king's coins. I get great gear just by grouping with others on farming things like lair of SC, Sissirat and ROC and I'm saving up for some cool rainbow level items which can cost (I hear) a hundred coins or more. |

Absolutely not. Everyone should play this game exactly the way I do. "Everyone's different"? Bah. That's just ridiculous. -------------------- Khaz: W4 Laker Girl An earthquake's sound, to a girl's guitar, is just another good vibration. |

Here's a few builds for you when you reach higher levels, the most basic ones actually: a) Aggressor--- distribute your CPs in favor of STR and AGI, give a little boost to END, but not too much, leave the rest to jewelry and EQP. The main tactic here is slaughtering your enemies before they dispatch you. Fastest way to clear out mobs, especially if you have cleave. b) Tank--- END is the focus here, STR and AGI come in second, disregard INT. The tactic here is to simply outlast your enemy, while dealing steady DMG. Since your STR will be lacking, I recommend using a decent two-handed weapon. Make up for your lack of STR and AGI by acquiring EQP with that give you bonuses to those stats. You can also go for a shield and a one-handed weapon if you'd like. As you level up, I recommned putting 3 points into END, one point to STR and the other one to AGI. c) "The adventurer"--- a versatile build with (nearly) equal physical stats (STR, AGI, END), though I think STR should always be in advantage, opposed to AGI and END. What you do here is simply run and kill. It's balanced, you deal good DMG, hit often enough, due to a decent ATK rating, though I would recommend dual wielding, because you'll land a lot more hits and not depend so much on ATK rating like two handed weapons do. |

So in other words: Aggressor: 3 pts STR, 2 pts AGI Tank: 1 pt STR, 1 pt AGI, 3 pts END, Adventurer: 2 pts STR, 1 pt AGI, 1 pt END, 1pt INT Important to remember here is that all these builds can do anything and go anywhere in the game. Their specialties are a bit different, of course, big the biggest difference between the three is probably in player mentality and playing style. I'm an aggressive dual-wielding tank, because that's how I have the most fun. -------------------- Khaz: W4 Laker Girl An earthquake's sound, to a girl's guitar, is just another good vibration. |

Correct, save for the adventurer part, you don't give any boost to your intelligence whatsoever. I started as an adventurer and am still playing as one and INT was never a problem. I didn't combine armor parts or had jewelry, instead I had either those fancy chainsaw or blademaster swords or a Fragalot, and all of those gave me a decent boon to INT. If you like balance, be an adventurer. If you're patient and like buffing your DEF rating to the point where monsters barely hit you and when they do you have an enormous amount of HP to back it up, be a tank. If you prefer smashing your foe's skull in 1-2 hits, be an aggressor. Khaz is right---all of these have their role ANYWHERE in the game, any dungeon, any group. |

Quote: My bad. I missed a critical word in the phrase "a versatile build with (nearly) equal physical stats". That's what I get for skimming the forums during my (short) work break. Playing as an aggressor-type tank; with high STR and AGI, and high END thanks to equipment bonuses, I hardly ever find myself running low on mana, despite very liberal use of Holy Roller, Soul Rend, and all the buffs I can get my hands on. On general principle I have one stack of mana potions in my inventory, but I use maybe two of them in an evening's worth of play. The mana regenerates while I run to the next fight, and when it doesn't, it's not a big deal because I'm not relying on skills to survive and to hurt the nasty little rat-faced opponents. Not relying on skills means you don't need high INT. Whatever you have naturally will be plenty for you, and get the job done. Ultimately, however, whatever works for you is what you should be doing. -------------------- Khaz: W4 Laker Girl An earthquake's sound, to a girl's guitar, is just another good vibration. |

I remember getting my three stats to the point where buffs became simply useless. I just equipped HSNO and saved some on potions. As for INT, I had no points invested but the one handed swords I wielded gave me a nice boon to INT and Mana steal which is VERY useful for a warrior doing Cleave + the, uhhhh, cleave augmentation skill. For a good aggressor or adventurer, I recommend going full plate as it has the most decent warrior stats, STR + END/AGI. I've actually heard some people were pursuing the Blademaster build, which is basically a warrior with the standard ranger build (AGI-END = 50-50) collecting pieces of EQP that give +X% bonus to attack speed/crit chance. I don't think it was a success though it sounds reliable (above average HP, incredibly high ATK rating), but the fact remains you cannot rely on crits to be the primary factor in dealing DMG. |

Yeah, I checked your character, not exactly a White Paladin, but I see the all time favorite---Holy Roller. Sooo, just outta curiosity...is that your main character? 'Cause, TBH, I thought you were a tad higher level than level 30 >_> |

Nope, that's a White Paladin. She turns Fanatical Fighter whenever I equip a shield, for some reason, but Khazandra is a White Paladin build. And yes, that's my main. You're not the first one to make that assumption either. ![]() -------------------- Khaz: W4 Laker Girl An earthquake's sound, to a girl's guitar, is just another good vibration. |

Quote: Actually, class titles depend on skills that you have equipped ATM only . It has nothing to do with EQP whatsoever. You're a Fanatical Fighter because you have some "barbaric skills"---pure physical DMG/physical DMG boost skills and Divine skills mixed up. If you mix elemental skills or skills natural for Rangers or Fighters (Trigger Happy, Raised by Roos) you'll get some crazy titles. |

Since I'm posting here anyway, I did some experimenting, and it seems what made my title change when I equipped the hatchet and shield was not the equipment, but the significantly different bonuses to my stats. The title changed when the attributes did. -------------------- Khaz: W4 Laker Girl An earthquake's sound, to a girl's guitar, is just another good vibration. |

There are two parts of a character's title: a) the first part which describes which particular stat has the highest boost and what "stage" (level) that character is ATM. For example; X - Strong (meaning STR has the highest boost) Veteran (meaning the character is somewhere between lvl 60-79) b) the second part determines what skills you have equipped ATM. For example; if I mix divine skill with shadow magic I'll become a "Dark Knight", just as a default ranger is a "Poison Ranger" given the fact he has mostly poison skills, or maybe an "Ice Ranger" if he utilizes Chill Bill or Shiver Shot. So the complete title goes like this; Strong Veteran (STR highest stat, lvl range 60-79, can be modified by switching EQP, that is, change the stat boost in favor of some other stat, such as END, where the character then becomes "Healthy" or "Enduring".) White Paladin (meaning you have mostly divine skills equipped, changes when modifying your hotbar by adding skills of a different type, like a different element (divine, poison, ice, fire, shadow) or some different passives and physical skills).
