I was having this debate with a friend on DR the other day and I figured i'd post and see what you guys think. At a medium to higher level, which is more useful in PvE soloing/grouping, Holy Roller or Butcher? Here's my opinion.

Holy Roller. Let's see what the 2 skills have in common and what they do differently

They Both:
<ul type="square"> have a chance to knock down the enemy
are generally used on the right mouse button
have the same general idea: Deal damage, with a chance to knock the enemy down.
The differences:

Taking the numbers from the highest rank,
<ul type="square"> Butcher adds 120% to Attack Rating and does 140% of normal Melee Weapon Damage, with a 4.6s cooldown.
Holy Roller deals 3545- 5909 Divine Damage and charges the target at an ungoshly rate and slows the target 25% for 5 seconds
Why I say Holy Roller is more useful than Butcher, (atleast the way I play)

When i'm a fighter, and I am PvEing, in a group or alone, it's a waste of time for me to knock an enemy back that's right next to me, just to take time to run up to it to continue my melee attack. With Holy Roller, I can attack the ranged mobs that shoot me from afar. I run up to them quickly, usually knock em down, and immobilize them for some time while I do melee damage. If I want to get mobs off of me(knock them back) that are RIGHT NEXT TO ME, I would load up Righteous Stomp, to get them all away from me.

Please share your thoughts/opinions!

I farmed a lot during my leveling thus making me allways be able to afford any skill I wanted, so I allways went with the latest I could update and didn't care wich it was. :D
Well, until the last 20+ levels or so where I went for Soul Rend mostly.

For me Holy Roller + Soul Rend because all I do is Insane Sissi runs... Bosses cannot be knocked down so I do not go to Butcher I go for Holy Roller instead for PvP(damn those runners!)

When I'm grouped I usually drop Holy Roller into a slot.

Then I save it for those moments where a mage/ranger pulls too much aggro from me. It helps me get to their aid faster, and start pulling the mobs off of them. It also comes in handy when chasing down those last mobs after a big fight.

The knockdown part is just the gravy. :)

If that happens then all I do is Right click "go to" Rightious Stomp and say to the mobs "what now!"

For PvE (On my lvl 30 Fighter) I use Soul Rend/Holy Roller, left mouse/right mouse.
Butcher doesn't get you much period.

In PvP you *might* use Butcher/Holy Roller on left/right, but Soul/Holy seems to be the preferred equip.

I agree with the majority, i cant do butcher.
Holy roller and soul rend are my top picks for PvE. I dont PvP much but i could imagine holy roller would take care of the runners.
