That's a bit harsh. I'm surprised that a major site like GameSpot didn't bother to check patch-notes to see that Guilds and such is just some weeks away instead of lowering the score since it isn't there right now.

The article was well written and voices the reviewer's concerns (similar to those I've heard both in game and on the boards) about it's long-term appeal. While I've continued to enjoy the game, I think it absolutely needs more content and diversity in order grow.

Generally speaking, games should be reviewed based on what's there and not what's gonna be there.

I do love DR, i've been playing it for almost a year now, and i think it is a great game for me, but i do have to agree that was an objective review and i find no fault in it. The only reason the score may seem unfair is perhaps because most other games these days tend to get unreasonably high scores.

It was a well-written review. The game isn't a fit for everybody, from someone looking for a "hardcore" MMO this isn't the place to be. But for the casual player who doesn't want a huge commitment, or someone who doesn't like to be "forced" to group or whatever, for me, this is where it's at.

It would have been nice if the reviewer mentioned that up front though. "Warning: This game is NOT for hardcore gamers, but those of a casual nature!" then continued on. Some of the individual reviews seemed to be from hardcore folk, bashing the graphics, mechanics, etc. and also failing to realize this game is what it is... a casual game without the extra hinderance of feeling you need to get something done (quests).

Sadly, we will never be able to convince everyone in the world of DR's greatness... as we've seen by the frustrated threads by newcomers who bought the game, expected a very different type of MMO, and are disappointed in what they found.

That aside, GameSpot's review quality has been steadily sinking for the past six months, and to be honest, I never thought it was that high to begin with. I've been a member for a couple for years now, but never paid much attention to their official reviews, simply because I never thought they were that good. With a couple of notable exceptions, their reviewers all seem to be enthusiastic and passionate gamers, but just not very good writers.

I read user reviews instead, from other members who share my tastes in games, and that works out a lot better. Professional reviewers never have the same criteria for greatness as I do anyway.

I'm not saying that DR is great, but it's better than a 6.0!!! Like maybe a 7.5 would be a more accurate rating.

Whenever I buy anything I always read user reviews. To be more specific, I only read the negative ones. If I'm interested in a product, you don't have to sell me on it. I want to know why people think it's not a good item. I really dislike the reviews that are "This sucks, don't buy it." or "I wish I never bought it. Terrible product. Avoid at all costs!!!" Well, why does it suck? Why is it terrible? Does it suck because you thought it wasn't described properly or it broke in a week or didn't install properly, wash your car, cut as good or whatever the intended use for it? Is it terrible because you failed to read the instructions and assembled it wrong or are operating it outside of its intended uses? Sorry that i rambled, you get the idea.

This is a PERFECT oportunity for many of us to have OUR voices heard by registering on the Gamespot site and posting positive user game reviews to counteract the comments made by a few rather uninformed people...

What how is it 6.0?

I remember starting DR I was checking the reviews for it and I went to Gamespot and it had an 8.3 rating how did it go down to 6.0
