i dont know if this is a stupid question or not, but im going to ask anyway

why are all the "twink" chars set at specifically 12-15? how come people dont have these types of chars at lv30 40 50 etc

It seems the rebalancing that happens inside the pvp arena somehow benefits the lower levels (that's the theory I've heard, anyway).

Otherwise, it's just more practical. It takes a very short time to level an alt up to level 10 or 20, and it's easier to farm against low level enemies.

What mess said is mostly true.

While re-balancing "glitches" may come into question, I can honestly say they're unfounded. In the past my alt(in the 40s) was set up for pvp. I did have my twink at this time(relatively new however) using my twink I learned the best way to build a ranger, using the same or very close to the same gear combinations and stat settings, I ususally did better with my alt. Which goes to show how a twinks skills are taken for granted by higher level players that are beaten by twinks and resent that fact. The so called advantages, "twink poison" is something that gets thrown around alot, but no one seems to think on the fact that maybe a twink has gear or something with the intent to increase poison damage out put. Nope just a lot of excuses coming from those with bruised egos. Of coarse it is always easier to make excuses rather than admit defeat or god forbid make an attempt to counter(with something other than just a poison resist buff, come on get a clue, resists have been made less effective in pvp if you didn't know already).

Ok, so on to the meat of the question "why are twinks all around lvl 12-15ish?" Well simply put, it's easier to get gear than any other level range, other than levels 95-100, which is close to the same since you don't have to worry about getting xp, and after level 90 the chances of an rb dropping for you are tripled. It just takes a lot longer to get to level 100, than it is to get an alt or 2 to level 15ish, which is the level in which rbs start to drop.

While farming for the rbs the drops tend to be more common in the levels 12-16 area, thus you get twinks in that range more commonly. There have been a few level 10 twinks, but they're gone now, and to gear a level 10 twink with full skittles is rather difficult in deed, since no rbs come lower than level 10, so no filler gear is available, you get 1 level to choose from.

There are a couple level 20 twinks out there, while not really difficult to get level 20 gear for one, it does take almost twice as long to get an alt to level 20 rather than level 15(almost, but not quite). While it is perfectly withing reason to farm sissirat for these level 20s, since algernon is level 3-15 dungeon, level 20 is the last level you can get xp, and the drop rates have begun to lessen at this point, so it takes longer to get them. And the next best place to farm is Verigrim, Snow Cheiftain takes to much time, since you have to kill 6 heros rather than 2, and while some may think that this increases the chances for an rb, the increase is really only slight, and therefore not really worth the extra time it takes. Now the problem with verigrim, is it takes a 50+ character to farm very effectively, if you are having to use potions its obviously taking too much time, and the idea behind the whole thing is to get things quickly.

I'm level 15 as a twink because thats what i had the most of when I was farming and the first to be able to piece together a full working set. While I did have plans on making a level 10 twink, i've since become skeptical as after many hours of farming, and being maybe half way there, with the help of anther person farming for their twink. I'm not sure if I have the will to farm for the other half, especially since I have to contend with getting a lot of the same stuff over and over again. I couldn't tell you how many Bad Muthas, The Judge, Staff of Rarrr and Vis'Kars Bilespitters i've had in my bank. But i'd be willing to bet if i still had everyone of them i could fill 2 bank pages with em.

The hardest part of making any high powered pvp character is getting jewelry. For me my self, I probably have about half of page of different rings and amulets for all 3 classes, not 25% of it is rbs. And half of the rb jewelry i have, i wouldn't choose to have. And of the rb jewelry i have only 60-70% of it came from the farming, i've got a hand full that came from trading. Ask any twink out there, probably any pvper, what gear they're most lacking in, they will probably say jewelry.

Its been nearly 4 months since i started this "quest" and i'm still not close to where i want to be.

Making a good twink is harder than most realize, and thats why there are really only a few of us that are really good. Not only have we had the patience to gather this gear together and learn how to use it, we've had practice and experience and learn how to fight better than better equipped players.

During a period of time where my main account didn't have its membership for a while, since it lapsed some 6 weeks before the box was released and I don't have a credit card to pay for it online, and couldn't get my hands on a plaync time card where I live. I was without a good pvp character, which is where roughly 80% of my gameplay goes. So I had this member account that was given to me by a friend since they quit to go on to other things. The only half decently geared character was a gimped level 38 ranger, I couldn't farm rotty by my self and had to beg a friend to reluctantly help me farm for some decent gear, a few peices here and there to get something workable. Once I got it together, it still wasn't complete but usable, the guy didn't know how to build worth anything, he wasn't using any passives when i got the account, it was kinda sad. So i started playing in pvp, I did ok, but since the gear just really wasn't up to par or even close to my standard, i got an idea. I had 2 farming toons, level 15 for getting my twinks gear, both non member. I had already started getting them half decent gear, its not like i didn't get any non member purple drops while farming, i'd pick it up and give it to them so they didn't look like some 8 year old put it together. I used that level 38 ranger which made a pretty decent sissi killer to farm for gear, i got some rbs, but what i was really looking for was purples that resembled some rbs, sometimes almost better for one reason or another. So I geared these two up with full purples, not all level 15s since they were non members and farming for hours on end for days on end isn't really my idea of a good time. So I got them geared up, tested out some builds and jumped back into pvp. Both at about 82% I learned a great deal using them, tactics being the key. I was beating people with power ratings in the 90s. After a certain point there is really very little that tactics can accomplish against someone that has far superior gear than you, and has some idea of how to use it. But there was one occasion where I skunked, thats right skunked, a level 100 with 97% power, he was just inexperienced, didn't know how to use his gear and skill sets to his advantage, where as I had it almost down to a science. Using these "toy twinks" as i call them, I learned how to kite, and to some extent how to counter a kiter.

I really encourage everyone to try this, for one, it is a great way to learn if you can let it teach you. Some people can't look past power ratings or rankings, and just don't learn, some just have to big of an ego. I'm good because i learn from my opponents and my own mistakes. There is really no excuse for all of you that want to be good and to contend with the likes of myself, killerrange, jaysherman, and magenolan. And second it takes very little time to gear up a pure purple twink, especially if you have it on a member account, all you need is a level 30+ to kill sissirat with, of coarse higher level character would be better and make things faster, i really recommend 35+.


And seriously, don't let my win count fool you into thinking i don't have much experience, its really only the tip of the iceberg. The fact that i learn extremely fast does give me and advantage, but you don't really know me, and probably think i'm full of it on that one...guess you'll never know then huh.

Anyway, The reason why twinks are 10-17, is because of the following reason.

Long ago, PvP was.. PvP.. well yeah, someone invented the level 1 rangers. Since yellows drop at lvl 5, and drops are at your level 5 levels below to 2 levels above your own level.. you can get level 1 yellows, Or.. with kings coins ofcourse. These level 1 rangers invaded all of PvP, and definitely made it not-fun. These level 1's were gltiched probably due to the secret buff level 1-10 characters get in Dew valley because else they die too much, boo! Well, it also went into pvp with that buff, boom bam, PvP to hell.

A fix came up, and everything was fine again. I have to be honest and tell you I was one of the best level 1's from that time. And I sort of came up with an idea. I suggested RangedRange and some others to try out a level 5 with full purple, since purples drop at lvl 10, well, lowest is level 5. Because purples are more rare, and the glitch was gone, it couldve worked.

Well.. it didnt real much, it was good but.. 100s pwning anyway. I also had level 10 with full rainbow in my head, and no farm methods were known at that point still. A level 10 with rainbows.. they start dropping at 15.. I did threw the idea on World chat a couple of times. And RangedRange was the first one to try it. Ranged.. help me, we farmed a few days with 3 level 15's I believe. Sissirat running. And there you go, the first level 10 twink.

Since we thought it was cool to have a character wioth the rainbows as low as possible. A few more twinks came, like umm.. Rainger, definitely, and some others. Now.. everyone farming with level 15's you say? Then they get level 10-17 rainbows! So what to do with the level 11-17? Doh! Make level 10-17 twinks!

And there you go, the story behind level 10-17 twinks. This idea was absolutely not planned on criticism like: Its glitched, you are bug abusers! And alike, but sadly we did got pretty much crap over us.

Your answer, the real one, on why twinks are (mostly) level 10-17.

lol its true , when i hit lvl 10 and became the 1st lvl 10 twink with rainbows people where confused and i found it rather funny my self lol.

then others came along and i kinda just faded away lol...

me and LR farmed for days 2gther to help create what became RangedRange. fun days...

well, glad to know i was an original for DR with the help of LR and Rainger, before i deleted RR it was a fun char to play and times where good.
