Just came back...Where to powerlevel?
#66343 - 07/07/08 08:24 PM

I just started back playing this game and I have a friend that just started a brand new character. I know you can powerlevel but I do not remember where is a good place to do so and I would like to help my friend level.

Whats the best areas? I am sure once I start back playing I will recall everything but at the moment I'm lost. Any help?

Well, hopefully you recall on your own. Generally, power leveling is frowned upon. Power level requests can get you dogged out or ignored.

Logically speaking. Why in the world would you want to rush to get to the highest levels? Say you make it to 100. Then what?

i do not need power leveling help. i just want to powerlevel my friend from work so we can play together and progress together. i am not asking anyone to powerlevel me, yes i know it is frowned upon, but was just asking what areas are a good place to powerlevel someone - i am sure atleast one person that reads these forums has power leveled someone before, so this is why i asked.

To power lvl someone thats all you have to do is have him/her lead and then invite you to group fight mobs that the would normaly kill on there own and it will in effect be powerlvling them.

Also a good way to power lvl them is have them go to a boss of there choice and help them kill it over and over. This will not only get them loot but also lvls just not as fast.

One Second.... Ok everyone im ready let the flames begin>

1) Make the lower level player the leader and head into a dungeon that's appropriate to his/her level. Players don't get any extra experience for fighting above their level, so why make it tougher than it needs to be.

2) Pick any location where there's a high concentration of mobs that can be quickly cleared by the higher level player.

3) Clear mobs for the lower level

4) Tell the lower level player to ignore all loot (unless he or she has the gnome). Looting will slow you down.

5) Rinse and repeat until one of you is mind-numbingly bored (won't take long)...

In regards to powerleveling - I understand that you didn't ask to be pl'ed, yourself, so please don't consider the following to be a direct reply to you:

In general it's poor form (in most MMOs) to beg for powerleveling. Doing so typically gets one ridiculed and/or ignored. Personally, I hate logging in and having a low level player I don't know immediately send me a tell asking for me to level them. Like I don't have anything better to do than server as a level-bot for some lazy schmuck?

That being said, I and many other players will freely offer to run lower level characters through bosses or dungeons if we're bored, feel like helping newbies, being social or whatever else tickles our fancy. The point is that we're doing what we want to do with our gaming time rather than being begged to do so.

Thanks Ripper. I feel the same way, I hate people sending me tells all the time for a powerlevel. I used to get it alot and even today, my first day back, I have received a few tells asking for powerlevels.

The reason I posted this thread was because I havent played this game in about a year and have forgot how it works. What you said about players do not get any extra experience for fighting above their level has solved everything. All I wanted to do was help my friend level up, I appreciate your courtesy Ripper.

I'm doing that - my only "legacy" character is UlrichWolfsbane. I just deleted a level 31ish fighter (LeCorbeau) so I could start a new character to play exclusively with my son. I'll probably do the same with JazzHands (level 28ish mage) so I can run with some RL friends that just got the game.

Was about to entertain myself at your expense about the name, but considering the name my daughter gave my alt, I better just keep my mouth shut...
