I know you can /ignoreworld but I was wondering if it is possible to completely disable the chat window. I rarely use it and all it does is get in my way when I am trying to fight. I've searched the guides and these forums but didn't find anything about completely turning it off.

No, you can't "make it disappear," so to speak. You can ignore the other channels too, though, so you'll only see zone chat, and you can resize it with the tab at the end to make it smaller (just in case you didn't know), but that's it.

you can also change the opacity of the chat window in the options menu. Helps some if you change it to 0

yeh but the problem with even doing that is there is still that tab that resizes the chat window and really gets anoying if you are in the middle of battle and click on it trying to hit an mob lol

Yeah, we're pretty much stuck as far as completely removing the chat box from potential interference, but you can use the camera to work around it most of the time.

Try different vertical angles and rotations to keep your targets nearer the middle of the screen- that's what I do, anyway.

Why not? Seems easy enough for me.

Running at a highe resolution helps also.. and pulling back to give yourself a more top down/ over the shoulder view works for me. I know you can't see as far ahead that way but in PvE do that really matter?
