Items between characters
#64783 - 06/28/08 10:24 PM

Other than creating two accounts and using two different computers, is there any way for me to transfer an item from one character (say my mage) to another one of my own characters (say a fighter?).

Most people in game will help you with that. Or you could always go to remote place and drop it then get other char and go there and get it

You don't need tow computers. As long as you allow instances of DR in the NC launcher settings and your comp can handle two DR's you can log onto two characters from different accounts and directly trade between them.

An alt account comes in handy for bank space, too.

It is NOT recommended you leave your items with someone else you don't know and give it to your other account... He might steal it.

All you have to do is have two applications of DR running aat the same time and go to someplace where there is noone and drop and pick up.

To run 2 instances of the game:

Open the PlayNC Launcher.
Click File - Setup
Choose the Advanced-tab and put a mark in "Allow multiple instances of the game..."

The_Slayer is right about you should beware people could steal your items, allthough you'll soon to learn that most lvl 80+ can be trusted with this since they're the ones who takes this game more seriously. Also you'll get to know fast people through the chats and learn there who can be trusted. Hopefully. ^^

Thanks that's really helpful! I had no idea you could run two instances of the game.

launch the PlayNC launcher or however you normally run DR...

Log-in to you DR account like normal...

I generally hit alt+enter to windo that instance...

Pull up your PlayNC launcher click on the Play button...it should tell you there is already an instance of DR running and ask if you would like to start another... select yes

This is where a second account comes into play... since you can't log-in twice on the same account...you have to log-in to your second account.

Alt+enter here or you can atl+tab between them but I find havin both of the on the desktop is easier....

Move your 2 characters some place quiet and trade between them.....

You can use the in-game trade functions this way. I often trade between characters at the obelisk in the middle of a crowd- no need for clandestine measures.

Does this still work?
I tried running two instances from difefrent accounts on the same machine. Both was on the same world, same instance of Townston but they couldn't see each other.
Have NCS blocked characters on the same IP from seeing each other or something?

Sure it does! Not sure what the problem was (if you are certain your characters were in the same place); I've never run into that before.
