XML updates have been stopped for the time being, as a side effect of upgrading the database server this morning. We're aiming to having it back up by the end of business today.

The DBAs are still investigating this, it doesn't look like there will be character XML updates this weekend. Sorry.

As of earlier this morning, character XML is being updated again. After the servers come up with the new patch, it should all be hunky-dory.

XML has been down for a few days (since retail box release) as far as I can see, when will this be available again?

Thank you. I would not expect you to delay lunch for a minor inconvience like that.

But when I have major issues I expect meals to become secondary. You can live for a couple days on coffee and Nodoze.

I got bad news then, Monday night I went home and slept while waiting for the database work to finish. So did the DBAs, because the work was automated. It was just slow

The database is not of major concern so you can sleep during that. It is during major issues I want you wired on coffee and caffeine pills.

I'm so glad to hear you say that! I thought it was just on my end.

Khazandra hit 29 last night, but the character viewer still has her at 24.

Well, let's just say that if you have limited resources, I can think of things they would be better spent on... replenishing that supply of caffeine pills, for example.

It's a matter of doing something that NCsoft has never done before. There's a certain amount of learning curve, and readjustment, to support it. Theory and a working plan are fine, but experience also plays into how the NCsoft operations team handles the unexpected. To quote Donald Rumsfeld, we're dealing with unknown unknowns here.

I'm sorry for the service interruption, they should get much less frequent as we gain experience with this very unusual service.

Just do not go duck hunting with Rummy and you will be fine. Now go get some coffee and Nodoze and get back to cranking out the fixes.
