Archery... a practice of using a bow to shoot arrows. Archery...historically been used in hunting and combat and has became a precision sport.

The Greek gods, Artemis, Apollo, Agilaz, the Roman god Cupid the god of love, The historical character Zhou Tong in Chinese myths, Legends and folklores of William Tell, Robin Hood, Hayk, Marduk, Arjuna, Arash and even some depictions of Heracles... These are all Archers and in a sense you and me. (thats if u play a Ranger in this game xD or other games)

Bows... Longbows, Flatbows, shortbows, recurve bows, compound bow, crossbow... all bows. Physics... by converting elastic potential energy stored in the limbs into kinetic energy of the arrow.... This all you know.

However did you know.... Archery is a completely offensive technique, there is no concept of defense when it comes to bows and arrows. However you have 3 laws... Center, Pierce, Endurance...

Center is being on target. Pierce is your power to penetrate. Endurance is your ability to persevere. If you aren't centered, you die. Even if you are centered but you don't penetrate, you die. if you can't maintain your skill for a skill for a long time, you die.

If you are on center, if you can penetrate... but you can't endure... everyone dies.

An interesting thought on the matter. I suppose bludgeoning the poor soul who gets too close with the bow doesn't count as defense. On the other hand if they got that close to you, you aren't a good archer.

As long as we are covering a little bit of history and general information, Archery is also the origin of flipping people off. Historically captured archers would have their fingers cut off so that they couldn't draw their bow string anymore. So at the beginning of a battle an archer would show that they still have their fingers.

Another odd tidbit that isn't history. I run an archery club at a college. But by no means do I know everything.
