What skill is this?!
#59255 - 05/22/08 04:23 PM

http://demosthenez.100webspace.net/displaychar2.php?charname=Fawk

http://www.threeplanetssoftware.com/software/dr/Fawk

Look at the 6th skill from the left. Just in case he changes it:

It's called "Stupid Strength" and it's at level 2, and it looks like this: http://www.threeplanetssoftware.com/software/dr/images/icons/brawn.png

I'd never seen it before, and I don't see it at TheTownstons. What is it, where do you get it, and what does it do?

It's a skill that is now only obtainable through a rare purple book drop. It increases str in % increments and "silences" the user for 30 secs. (can't use other skills).

I think SS is the only one. From what I'ev heard, they removed the skill from the game a while back, but the skill books hid Anne Frank style from the devs so they still pop up occasionally.

I've gotten 2 since October last year, but I got both really early on so there haven't been one for ages. I sure hope they're still in the game.

I saw it in the skill trays of a lot of the speed/DPS abby fighters. I have the 1st lvl, but I haven't tried it either.

Since I found both my really early on in the game, I used it now and then and it's really a great buff. It's like your own personal Strength-shrine on steroid. :D

What do you think will happen if Skill Books become tradable?

What would happen would be that every 2nd post in Trading here in the forums would be for Stupid Strength. :p

I doubt that Lord Magnus, because they would be snapped up in like 2 seconds.

That's why, when I personally recommended book trading and brought it up again in WNB post about skill books, that books should/could be made tradeable - but only for another book imo.

The matter of books of stupid strength being traded or "hoarded" or whatever as a reason NOT to have book trading seems silly - people do it now for "rarer" rbw items that everyone wants anyway, and its not like there ARE going to be a bunch of them suddenly float up for trade.

I still wholly support skill book trading...or something. Got me two books actually yesterday for Swiper (yay you say...) and eventhough now she's a hybrid mage, the two books were "Poison Shot" and "Toxic Talent"...argh.

Maybe when they (if they) make shared or tradable bank stuff on the SAME account (membership perk maybe?) books can bbe made to trade amongst your own chars? I dunno... But it's fair of me to say, that NOT being able to trade books in DR is one of my ONLY really substantial dislike or complaints about the whole game. Its not going to make me not play of course, but I've seen many other "concerns" and complaints get remedied that a lot of people think are unimportant when skill book trading is talked about with disdain by many players all the time.

Sorry 'bout the long post....I have strong feelings about skill books! :D

If books can only be traded for other books, then level 100s have no incentive to trade Stupid Strength for anything else: since likely the only skill they have not maxed out is Stupid Strength.

Haha, yeah, that's probably true. If someone would have Stupid Strength for trade and made a WTT somewhere, people would probably spam Tells with loads of RB's they'd offer. I know I would give all not Soulbound items I have every time I'd see someone offering it. :D

agreed I suppose...but what I was saying is that "reason" to NOT have book trading is silly. The whole game of players shouldn't be denied something seemingly ideal/simple to "fix" a problem for some people as they see it simply because a minority of players will try to "exploit" it. Besides, on that note, the amount of SS books isnt going to drop any more or at a higher rate than it was, so I still fail to see your seemingly large concern over the issue. Maybe 2 lvl 100s will end up with level 5 SS after what...months? if the issue was really that large. AND that's only if those said lvl 100 become aware that someone has gotten a book and not immediately used it or is even on the forums to trade with, etc...

I don't think it will change anything with SS at all, unless a group of lvl 100's make it their thing to go around on the worlds looking for SS books all day to try and pry out of other peoples' hands - and that's if anyone wants to trade it of course instead of using it themselves.

I see the desire for other much more useful "common" books being much, much higher.

I've got 3 of them, one after the last patch, every new level adds +%Strength and prevents the player from casting spells a little longer each level, the spell was on the PTS server a while back but was only patched in as a book, it still drops but is very rare.
It's the only spell that is found only in book form.
