I'm playing on a Lenovo T60P Thinkpad using the built in track point II (eraser stub pointer) and "third" mouse button to mouse look. When I'm in the quest log, I will occasionally lose the ability to use my left mouse button after attempting to scroll the list up and down using the scroll bar. I believe this may have to do with my middle mouse button. It is set to "scroll smooth" which usually means that it scrolls using the little circle with the direction arrows on it in applications like internet explorer. Whenever I attempt use this (doesn't work, but I do it out of habit), it seems to destabilize things in the quest log, and cause me to lose the ability to left click after I go back and use the left click on the scroll bar to scroll the list. Once that happens, my only option is to kill DR from the task manager. Major suckage...

Hmmm im not a "mouse expert" but im going to say.......get a new mouse

If I had to guess, I'd say it was due to proprietary mouse software with the Thinkpad. That being said, you're the only person I've heard of that attempts to use a laptop mouse (not even a touchpad) for gaming. When I'm home, I have a full-size USB mouse attacked to my laptop docking station and when I travel, I use a Logitech Notebook Travel Mouse. It's very responsive (it's not like I'm playing a FPS), small, inexpensive and only has a 2' cord.

I was actually involved in the development of the first Thinkpads (700 series) back in the early 90s when I was at IBM and believe it or not the original prototype of the trackpoint WAS a pencil eraser. I field-tested early pre-release models and although very useful in its own unique way, the trackpoint was next to useless for games. Of course PC games in '91 didn't use the mouse much at all anyway.

Get a real mouse and get on with your (gaming) life!
