Negative movement speed and strength.
#57752 - 05/08/08 07:44 PM

I have been thinking about fighter gear and its movement decrease attribute. It dawned on me that people with the strength to be a warrior wear heavy gear because they are able to move freely in it. Higher strength means you could bear heavier armor and weight all together.

My suggestion is that Strength either increase movement OR reduce the negative movement speed impact that comes with fighter(heavier) gear(armor).

Then we would also debate whether rangers should be faster than mages because rangers have more agility, thus making them fast.

I think it's fine as it is.

I, oddly enough as some others, agree with WH on that particular point in that rangers should be the fastest "class" in the game on premise...but who am I to say right? lol..

Your a player you have every right to your opinion and suggestion.

But i do see your point on the ranger thing. I have to say i do in a way agree with you. Maybe agility makes you faster and strength reduces the movement impairing from armor...hmm not a bad idea man.

Perhaps str does make the armour lighter, but warriors are born to be slow. They traded their speed for Hp, str, and end (and maybe int and agi).

I am not sure about "born to be slow". However, this whole issue is not really supposed to make sense. The movement speed decrease is there as a balancing agent for the "class".

Yes agreed...

What I should have been more clear on is that Ive always thought that movement speed should in some way be directly affected/bonused by agility. That makes sense to me as strength bolsters both damage and defense and intellect bolsters both actual mana amount and magic damage. Along those lines: Endurance, imo, should bolster health points AND stun resistance (or some other passive effect) and agility should bolster movement speed proportionately along with its current modifiers. There, now I feel better explained.

In that way, theres no actual "class" perse that gets a benefit, but anyone can get what bonuses they pick and choose. A ranger can build (typically) on end and agi - which would give you okay health, good physical speed (movement), dexterity/accuracy with weapons, and the ability to be less stunned/dodge. All of those things I think of when I think "ranger".

Carry on...

Reduce in speed = harder to run away from in PvP.
