How's this idea?
#56719 - 05/01/08 09:28 PM

http://idearunners.com/story.php?title=Push_not_Pull1
Basic overview:
The skill I want is a skill that will pull enemies towards you, not knockback skill and it helps to kill runners in PvP.

Wouldnt this be offensive gesture?

Perhaps for other classes other than warriors.

Negative. Offensive gesture obviously does nothing in pvp. Nor does offensive gesture pull in ranged monsters.

Good idea.

Lol.... are we talking DR or Star Wars KOTOR II: The Sith Lords... What you are describing sounds EXACTLY like the *force pull* skill from this game

So what's next, picking up the monsters with a force pull and throwing them in to each other, knocking them down like bowling pins....

Holy Roller and Putrid Penetration already pulls your target towards you if they are facing the other direction, ie. running away. Unfortunately, Smack and Stomp don't... but that's beside the point.

Umm.. 4 things.
1. Running is a tactic in pvp, and if you atleast want some cool pvp, you gotta allow people to do so, and not make skills to make every class a tank.
2. see point 2, the ranger and mage class belong at a distance, they arent tanks so its useless.
3. See both points again.
4. Repeat point 3.

My fault I missed that this was aimed at PVP in the OP. You want a Telekenis type skill to pull an enemy to you not to increase aggro. Interesting ideal. Not sure if would be useful in PVE at all ... but in PVP I can see how it could be very annoying for mages or rangers.

You must not be a fighter. The most annoying part of being a fighter is chasing down the ranged monsters. Being able to pull in a few at a time would be beautifrickinful.

HAHA you must not know me... or look at my sig. Have been a fighter for a long time. Holy roller works quiet nicely for killing ranged mobs along with other knockdown skills. If they are on their back they cant run from you. Having to pull each mob to you wont help when they run back away.

Your point? MageNolan doesn't have more speed than other Mages. I don't think equipments being Rainbow gives more speed bonus. Yet other Fighters can catch kiting Mages fine. You probably aren't doing it right.

EDIT: I'm mistaken, some Mage Rainbows do in fact have unholy speed bonuses.

I have to admit that taking a holy roller into a group of peons and showing them some awesome cleavage is fun. But chasing down individual ranged monsters is tedious, even with knockdown.

Here's the thing: If it existed, you'd use it. And you'd like it. In fact, for all the best leveling dungeons, DC or Balz 3, for example, you'd swear by it.

And don't try to say otherwise, my friend, because your pantaloons will spontaneously ignite.

So how about something like a skill called "Tasty but poisonous" that when activated causes 100% aggro from all local monsters and also gives you 100% reflect melee damage or something... It seems like a skill that you just used to "draw" a monster (or an opponent in pvp) would be overpowered - or underpowered and inefficient as the case might be in regular PvE witha large mob if it only drew one monster/target at a time.

It sounds like the OG skill could just be reworked better to make this kind of idea kinda work in a way.

I was wondering about the pvp myself. I think some experimenting would be in order, but if it's found to change the balance too much, make players immune. Of course, other ranger and mage skills will be developed before too long, and this fighter skill (Jerked Meat?) might very well be needed in the future to maintain some balance.

Regardless, it'd still be worth every penny in pve -- and just like every skill, make it start off with limited jerk (number of monsters and time), and then increase the jerk in higher levels.

'Tasty but poisonous' isn't a bad idea, but again, no help to a fighter. The mobs already attack us, and we'd still have to chase down the ranged uglies.

I like "Jerked Meat" and I thought about this a little last night - how about something like another bling-gnomeish guy called "Meat Puppet" that came around with you and had a constant monster baitish effect when simply around you, but as his activated skill, you "tossed" him out from you with equal range of most ranged weaps, he aggroed whatever mobs he came near, and then you "reeled" him in on his strings back to you with mob in tow. He could also maybe have a separate skill that made him cause poison dmg or something (like rotting meat?)

I suppose this idea is just like a moveable/expanded monster bait though, but it seems more fair than just an activated skill maybe, and as you up his skill level he gets bigger and juicier...I dunno just tossing ideas on the floor to get stomped and put together with other ones. Have at it.

That's a cool idea, wreker. Personally, I'm surprised nobody has suggested "Pull my finger..."

Grappling hook? You mean like pudges meat hook?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlD6XC0vHsc&feature=related

Im sorry but making it anything other than a "meat hook" would be a waste. Imagine the publicity DR would get with dota people wanting to use it.

I think the hook is similar to the hook shot in the Zelda games

I want that one!

Off-topic, have you seen this commercial for some antacid?

Woman is interviewing man who is obviously suffering from some intestinal discomfort. She is reading his resume:

"So I see you are flatulent in 6 languages and graduated at the top of your gas."

Her assistant comes in and says "Excuse me, it's your son Rip calling on line toot."

My wife and I LOL everytime we see it.
