Build Tabs
#56276 - 04/28/08 07:48 PM

I would like to see tabs you can create for different builds. You can equip the build, name it and change it at any time you want on your Character Stats page. For example, you can create a "Group" build and then a "Solo" build. You select the one you want and then your gear is fully equipped and so are your skills. I think it would be better and especially easier to have this system instead of running up and down the Bank most of the time because it doesn't take as long. It is also nice to know where your items are and leaves room in your Bank/Inventory.

Nice idea. Shouldn't it be on IdeaRunner.com? I just posted an idea that is good for us PvPers. No exp while farming but we are allowed to get the loot. Vote for it plz!

As No_one suggested, you may like to submit this idea to Idea Runners so it can be voted on and the developers can bet feedback. Plus you can vote on other people's ideas.

My opinion? Nay. It has been suggested in various incarnations here in the forums several times. It would need more coding for a convenience, which in turn would be abused in PvP. Furthermore, more bank space is being added in the next heave.

Wouldn't PvP'ers exploit this like crazy?

Well, it would be available to all pvp'ers, so I don't really see it as exploitable. This idea is like the preset skill set, it would make things much less tedious.

...now that I think about it, I suppose someone could go from a high end build to a high atk power build in pvp
(similar to the weapon switch). But if you add a short delay in player action after switches are made, I think it would work.

You're probably thinking of weapon-switching issues. This could be mitigated by placing a cooldown timer on build switching. The player would still have the convenience of having preset builds, but wouldn't be able to swap them more than once in the middle of combat.

This suggestion, in general, is basically a combination of the various weapon-switching and swappable skill tray ideas that have been made before. I like the suggestion, but it would require some work and new features. For example, the inventory UI would need to allow at least two equipped gear tabs (currently equipped and alt equipped).

Yup. But I like the general idea of this suggestion though. Maybe a freeze so that PvP'ers had to stay with a build during the whole fight? Then it'd work.

Last time I checked, BrokenArrow would be a PvPer.

NO NO, freezing to a single build would paralyze us. If you're excluding actually being able to switch out stuff manually during a fight, ok.

But I think the idea of build tabs would bring more to pvp. Everyone could use it the same way as another so there's no real opening for exploitation. A cool down is a given. But to only allow it once per fight would make it almost pointless, if i accidentally make the wrong build decision i'd rather not have to switch out everything manually. For one that takes a good bit of time anyway, and for two, you'd have to wait for skills to cool down again. I think a 30 second cool down would be fine. I'd be ok with something a bit longer as well, but nothing more than 2 minutes, for the same reason I said NO to locking, or only being able to use it once in a fight.

People, you need to think outside the box more, i see it way to much here in the forums. People only focus on the bad and don't think of how to fix it, without going to the extreme, ie disabling in pvp to prevent exploitation. And flame fests happen a lot because of it. There is currently nothing in pve that is disabled in pvp, and it should stay that way.

Touching on another thread(idk where it is right now) talking about an extra page in inventory, but it would be for members only, that would have to be disabled in pvp to keep things balanced. IMHO everyone should get any extra inventory space if its implemented. Grouping would be a pain as a non member playing with members. Instead of a non member going back to town to sell loot at about the same time as everyone else, they'd be going back twice as often.

Food for thought.

I agree with Magic, freezing builds will give kiting/running mages a huge avantage to warriors and rangers. For Crackerst, he'd have to switch to fast mage gear to catch the runner.
