I don’t think you can determine anyone else’s happiness. If you don’t enjoy actively seeking more functional means of living then what does that say about your happiness? I get my happiness out of obtaining values that exist in synergy with reality; I enjoy doing things that promote progression by finding, understanding, and improving upon the functions of the things I value.

Is it just me or does this sound like an ad for some super eco-friendly hybrid vehicle?

It also sounds more than a little like something out of "Dianetics."

Hahahaha. It's just you.

I do not see, at all, how you connected ME with L. Ron Hubbard. I am someone who surrounds himself by definitions and reality; Hubbard sets himself so far off in ambiguity no one knows what to make of his work. I remember when I first studied him I couldn't understand how someone could remain in such inconsistent philosophies... Reading and ascribing to anything Hubbard says is such an arbitrary waste of time.

I'm extremely curious as to what I said that made you connect a relationship between Hubbard and myself; He seeks nothing but dysfunction... I mean, the man thinks that a cold is a psychological illness...

LOL! It was more of a general wordy kind of psychobabble feel I got from it. Honestly, I have no idea why ElRon specifically leapt into my head. Bad chalupa and a Tom Cruise nightmare maybe.

Actually, after re-reading your post another time I am struck that possibly you write resumes for a living. A large number of your sentences read like some of the more "fluffed up" resumes I have had to read while interviewing for corporate IT positions over the years. I mean really, who says things like "actively seeking more functional means of living" and "promote progression by finding, understanding, and improving upon the functions of?"

Seriously though, no offense was intended. You will find that many of us here will absolutely say (write) whatever pops into our heads strictly for our own amusement. If someone wants to start a flamefest, they pretty much come out and start with the ad hominems. And hell, I may be the one of the worst.

(BTW, if you really want to be accurate and "obtain values that exist in synergy with reality" - although you write about him in the present tense, Hubbard hasn't really done anything much since he died 20-odd years ago. )

I know you didn't mean any offense; and if you did, you certainly wouldn't have to justify yourself, especially to me.

I find it funny you call my writing fluff when I purposely leave out any unnecessary wording. I write with concrete detail; to best explain my position. If you are unsure what certain words mean you can always ask me or consult a dictionary; which there is no shame in doing.

I would never write resumes for a living; that sounds like an incredibly repulsive job. If you are curious I write translations as well as teach.

Yeah, Hubbard is dead. I tend to talk about philosophers in the present tense because I'm usually talking about the philosophy and not the person; but you're right, that is an inconsistency and I should be clearer whether or not I'm talking about the philosophy or the person.

Now that statement damn near forced me to wipe off my monitor! I'm serious, I literally laughed out loud. Thanks for that.

I'm curious just what part of that (poorly) veiled insult was necessary for either clarity or context? You presume a lot and imply that I don't understand some of the many many words you use? THAT is truly funny. You obviously have no idea who you are talking to.

I do hope you don't expect the denizens of these fora to take you NEARLY as seriously as you take yourself.

I do not expect anything of anyone. Whether not people think of me as a gigantic joke or a hero is of little consequence to me; my happiness does not require any of their input, only mine.

I don't care who I'm talking to; dictionaries are always useful. It was not an insult. I consult a dictionary all the time (along with my reason). I really meant there is no shame in doing this; I do it all the time. There are plenty of things I do not know; I would be a fool to pretend I knew what I was talking about instead of taking the small effort to understand what I was talking about; which I find to be rather obvious to anyone interested in knowledge and arbitrary to anyone who isn't.

It is quite obvious that, when you paralleled my philosophies to a philosophy that is the complete opposite of what I believe, you must have misunderstood a lot of what I said. Is it so farfetched to safely assume that you might be missing something? If I did not understand something you were saying I would certainly research it or ask you about it before coming to any conclusions.

It was also meant as a general suggestion, not a direct command, or condescension.

Also I didn't think you would offended by something as trivial as how I view how you view me.

But do and say what you must for your pleasure.

Heh, it's entertaining to read as an uninvolved party, though.
