Hehe, just a silly thing I thought of as I jsut woke up from falling asleep in the sofa. Must have dreamt it. Here goes:

I've talked to a couple and it seems there is several who would like to change the name of their toon. There is no option today but I thought of an idea how this could be done without letting the system get abused.

1. Changing the name of our toon could only be done once!
2. Let there be a quest avalible first at level 100.
3. Let this quest be crazy as crazy can be! And long. Maybe we have to find one quest-item from every dungeon ("The Lost Nametag of Sissirat" and "Frump" and so on" maybe?)so it isn't done so easily either, and really have to run around and look a bit. It could be the either the bosses or the dungeons themself who had the "nametags" needed so we either had to look a long time, or farm a lot.
4. After hours or days or weeks, when all items is finally gathered, and given to Townston Commander or whoever will have the quest, let there be an announcement in main like "I hereby un-name thee OLD_NAME and giveth you the name NEW_NAME."

EDIT: Oh yeah, and it have to cost a bit too.

Just a thought though. Would take care of the "Dang, I wish I went for another name" and "I wish I could change name" problem. And I know I'd change names on both my sub-toons myself.

Some of my toons are less than loved by many (I have my nice toon, Lorenth, who helps pwrlvl and pwrloot noobs and I have my evil toon who's name must not be spoken, and lives just to annoy people and is very good at it ) But my evil toon is coming up in the world and turning out to be quite a good character. I wouldn't mind being able to change his name and, well, re-establish him in the community so to speak :P

As to that hard, why not simply make it an obscene amount of gold that only super high level players (95+ ?) could afford? Say, 50 million gold and it's a one time shot, so don't make any typos or yer screwed type deal?

lvl 95+ and 50 million gold is a bit too much, IMO. But I think it would be a good idea to punish them for giving your char a wrong name by a long quest or something

Sadly enough I cant speak for those who are unhappy because of their character name.. Mines just all fine
