Perhaps this should go into builds or guides if so feel free to move...

Now I am a complete newbie is their a good build for a starter mage? I'd like it to be a give and take kinda build.. Mages start out with like no hp and some sp but i like to dish it out as much as i give it.. is their a build for that or i do need a fighter or ranger..

Can you clarify a little bit on what you mean when you say you want to dish it out as well as take it like more of a Battle mage(standing toe to toe swinging at mobs with spells added in)or do you want a really high Dps so they never even come near you??

Well Fighers and rangers are good with both those things that you metioned but not so with the mage class because you've got so little health.. some say all int and no end but i dissagree i'd like a balence between all of those points and a better chance to hit with a 1 hand weapon might be good cauz that's all i can find wands(as opposed to two handed staves)

So if i understand you right and im truly guessing here you want a mage that can hit with Mage weps still and take a few hits. If I was to make a mage like that i would but my points 5 per lvl like this 2 str 2 agi and 1 into Int then get mainly Int and End Mage gear. Its an odd way to do it but it may work well for you. the Str is for when you do hit a mob and the Agi will let you be able to hit a mob. A lot of Mage gear has End and Int as main stats so this allow you to have a good balance between them.

Good luck

When people say "All INT no END", they don't mean you run into dungeons with 1000 INT and 1 END. What they mean is that you only put your attribute points into INT, and get your END from equipment bonuses.

And yes, it is true that most Mage builds have very little health (there are END Mage builds, but those have become almost obsolete... dunno why), but that fact is balanced by a skill called "Blue Screen of Life": you learn it at level 25, and it diverts a percentage of damage to your mana, up to 81% at level 100.

At lower levels, it may be better to use an END build since your BSoL is still weak and unable to divert much damage: I would say go for END builds before your BSoL is at 50%, which is level 55 I think. However, as your BSoL gains power, you will find that an INT Mage is more powerful than an END Mage, since essentially, an INT Mage's mana is his/her life, and with every point in INT he/she gains survivability, mana store, mana regeneration speed and spell damage all at once.

I've never played a Mage-Fighter Hybrid, and truthfully I haven't seen many who play the build, so I can't help you there. However, as a Mage-Fighter you are going to need all attributes: Strength for physical damage, Agility for accuracy, Endurance for survivability and INT for mana store and spell damage. I would expect that splitting points across so many attributes won't make you more powerful, though it will make you more adaptable. If you want to PvP, however, hybrid builds are not reccomended: I have not seen someone wielding a good hybrid build in PvP yet (unless you count Fighters/Rangers with Snowman Summons, which is pretty much mandatory now).
