Creative Suggestions
#51713 - 03/19/08 11:07 PM |
I get tired of constantly using the same spam attacks and some of the scenery. I would like to be able to do/see more. Here are some ideas: 1. Add some traps to the game Ex: Lay mines and lure monsters to it. 2. Bobby traps some dungeons so that we can’t just run through avoiding monsters Ex: Spiked floors that pop up at certain locations deals 5% of hp 3. Random harder monsters that patrol dungeons without a radius. A good example of this is the Big Daddies in BioShock, they go to places for no reason but if they see you, they will attack. 4. Better NPC costumes. Ex: All of the arm merchants in Townston all look the same. Why not add a hat or mustache to some of them? 5. NPCs in dungeons should be able to defend themselves from monsters that I lure. Ex: In Algoon lvl 1, there are those guards around giving quests. I lured some monsters to them but all the guards did was stand there. Maybe they should help me out a little and kill them! 6. More puzzling dungeons (like in Legend of Zelda games). It should make the game more interesting. Ex: Combinations of switches that open doors, push objects onto switches, etc. 7. More special effects that change the environment. (Unless already in game) Ex: Enable fog in some areas where players have a sight range and can’t see far. Monsters would pop up and attack at random. 8. Items that have time limits, not just skills. And maybe some actual food because people don’t just live off of potions. Ex: An item, called steroids, will make you 10% stronger but reduce max hp (because It’s steroids). 9. Cinematic cut scenes would draw more people to play the game just to see clips (but getting the voice actors and writers would cost $$). Well this is all I got so far, and this is the most I wrote so far. -------------------- http://threeplanetssoftware.com/software/dr/Crackersd |

1. No comment. 2. Good idea, I like it. Currently the dungeons are too repeatitive and bland, more stuff like the Shrines and Chests could spice it up. PS. I think Fate does quite a good job in the diversity of their instanced dungeons. 3. Good idea, same reason as before. It is rather tiring when all monsters have the same group AI mentality. 4. I don't mind if they do this, but I don't think aesthetics are that important at this point. I'm sure they will get around to it once all the major systems are in the game first. 5. I suppose you mean those quest NPCs in dungeons? Well, it may be a nice touch, but otherwise I think it is excessive. Personally, probably more trouble than it's worth. 6.Good idea. 7.Good idea. 8. Don't mind if it is implemented. 9. I don't think that's necessary. Doing so will be slightly excessive, and it really is just an aesthetic thing. I doubt many people care about "cinematics" in an MMO. |

Quote: I think it would be more fun (and totally in the spirit of Dungeon Runners) if one failed to kill all monsters so they came to close to the NPC, he'd run away screaming like Carlton in 'Fresh prince in Bel Air' so one had to run all the twists and twurls of the dungeon yet again to find him. :P -------------------- May The Rainbows Drop As Cows From The Sky The Lordships Dungeon Runners Sverige/Sweden |

Quote: Not a good idea, as you can lay a whole minefield and then draw 3-4 mobs at once to all get killed at the same time in explosion, thus racking up massive amounts of EXP, it would result in people abusing this tactic to level way too fast. Like AoE leveling isn't enough...and it would completely destroy the rates at which classes level, for example, mages level the fastest, followed by warriors and then rangers. Quote: Good call, I like it. And I'd definitley like to see fodder mobs being cleared out by being lured to spikes that protrude from the ground beneath their feet. I'd also like to see some sort of searing/flaming floor in Embercore for example, or even giant swinging axes, and maybe some sort of a "sharp-corner-turn" trap. Quote: Oh, yeah, I definitely like this one. Harder wandering creeps that lurk through dungeons. This would work great, if they could, say, do some sort of an invisibility trick. It would also pack up the atmosphere in darker dungeons, with sharp turns! Quote: I agree, the smithy triplets who all share the same voice and lines is a bit....errrr, "uncool". However, this can easily be fixed, say by changing their build. A good idea would be to keep one chubby smith, make another taller and more muscular and the third one could be a monster! Like an Orok smith or something ![]() Quote: Good idea. Seeing those armed guards standing idle and being ignored by monsters is kinda unreal. I would like to see minor guard patrols bump into mobs (occassionally) and fight them, but all be set to Normal level of challenge (like the mobs). They'd also be outnumbered by creeps. Quote: I'm not so sure about this one, this is more Indy/Croft style to me. And sometimes it can get too tedious trying to find the correct combination for coming to the other parts of the dungeon. And it's kinda missing the point of DR, since this is a dungeon crawler. However, it would definitely be more fun if we had more bonus stages and mini games set inside dungeons, or even some sort of secret passages and such. Quote: Great idea! The fog thing is cool, would love to see that kind of atmosphere, with creeps lurking behind corners and what not. It would also spice up the whole thing if we had creeps that pop up from the ground in front of you, or even bash through a wall to attack! Or maybe some kind of rogue-like blademasters that conceal themselves, follow you and start combat by dealing a critical hit! Quote: I agree on that one. Drinking the same old potions is getting a bit cliched. And I like the idea about steroids, but there should also be something for mages and rangers, kinda like a haste potion of some sort that speeds up the ranger's weapon and movement speed for a short period of time. Quote: Have to agree with Necrophilius on this one. But, still, good job on these suggestions, alotta ideas can be developed from them! ![]() Edited by LoricaSegmenta (03/20/08 03:24 PM) |

Reply for the following: 1.Limit to a certain amount of traps 6.Make a dungeon that is separate from all the others so only the guys who want a challenge should do it 9.I didn't like the cut scenes either -------------------- http://threeplanetssoftware.com/software/dr/Crackersd |

I don't think instanced puzzles are going to be particularly complex, so applying them to all dungeons should not be a chore for the players. |
