Difficulty slider "cache" bug?
#51653 - 03/19/08 01:22 PM

Scenario:

I login to DR as UlrichWolfsbane and want to farm Abby. I specifically remember to open my options to make sure that my difficulty is set to normal. It is. I then zone into Cleft of the Searing Knight and get my hind end handed to me because the instance difficulty is Insane. I double-check by typing /difficulty and, sure enough, my difficulty is Insane.

The same issue happened to me while playing LeCorbeau. I remembered that I had been fighting on Insane during my prior play session, but all the mobs I was fighting in the dungeon were Normal. I checked my options and Difficulty was set to Insane, but /difficulty showed Normal.

Please note - I never set difficulty by typing /difficulty <level>. I only set difficulty via the options menu.

Been having this same problem alot as well. If i want to make sure that im on normal I will move bar to insane set it then go back in and move bar down to normal and set it. This has worked for me everytime.

I ran into this same exact problem in the last two days when I played with Swiper. I have diff set to normal to grind/farm rotty before I catch people for a group, but the level is set to insane eventhough it says "normal". I have to also switch my diff up to insane then back down again to actually acheive normal difficulty everytime I log off then back on.

I had just the opposite happen to me in a group experience.

Set on Insane for a group farming. After picking up a rainbow drop and resetting instance, it went to normal difficulty. We could tell because the loot % dropped. Checked the options, and the setting was on Insane.

teaches me to not look in the bugs forum every so often...

I just posted this in the general diss forum....

Not only does the difficulty change without the slider being changed but also the slider will change to a differnt dificuly on it's own:)

I had been running Rotgut on easy basically so I didn't use pots and get some money. Finished the first mob and hit Rottie Dog and died... inattention death because in 10 runs I had not used a single pot....respawned and checked difficluty and the slider was on insane. Set it back donw to normal, reset instance, started the run and everything was back on insane. Finished the first mob, changed difficulty back to normal, reset, and it was fine.

I've also had the same or almost the same happen with Abby runs. Both of these have been on Steele.

I've also logged in, hit a dungeon, and died. in checking the slider it was on normal. Back in to the dungeon and the mobs were at insane. Moved slider to formidable and reset. Back in the dungeon and mobs were still on insane. Set slider to insane and reset, Set slider to normal and reset. Back into the dungeon and mobs were finally on normal. This has happened in both Embercore and HDoL.

I have mentioned this in game and several others have noticed it also.
